FREMONT

CANNONS

vs.

SACRAMENTO

CAPITALS

SERIES PREVIEW –The stage is set for a heavyweight showdown between two powerhouse clubs — the 119-win Sacramento Capitals (119-43) and the Fremont Cannons (110-52) — in a World Series that promises fireworks from the start. Sacramento, the National League’s top seed and winner of the NL West, enters the Fall Classic riding a wave of momentum after a big comeback victory in the NLCS, powered by a relentless lineup and a lock-down bullpen. Fremont, champions of the American League and winner of the AL East, counters with a roster built on power and precision — a deep rotation and explosive bats that turn the routine into the spectacular.

The two teams matched up well: while Sacramento has a clear defensive advantage (a .986 FLD versus Fremont’s .981 FLD), Fremont pitching staff produced a lower ERA (a 2.89 ERA versus Sacramento’s 2.94 ERA), and both clubs allowed 3.37 runs per game. Sacramento brings a slight advantage offensively, with a .268/.336/.466 line, 266 home runs, 96 stolen bases, and a 5.6 R/G, while Fremont is not far behind sporting a .259/.332/.449 line, 236 home runs, 102 stolen bases, and 5.2 R/G. This is the clash everyone anticipated all season: two juggernauts, each determined to cement their legacy, colliding on baseball’s grandest stage.

This is Sacramento’s 4 trip to the World Series, and first since 2018, and Fremont’s second appearance—the Cannons recently took home the trophy in 2022. Neither team has lost a World Series, but one will in 2025.

2024 WORLD SERIES

Tempe

Tempers

vs.

Chicago

Mobsters

SERIES PREVIEW – In the upcoming 2024 Mid-West Baseball League World Series between the Tempe Tempers and the Chicago Mobsters, the Tempe Tempers appear to have a significant advantage across multiple positions. Starting with the catcher position, J.T. Realmuto’s experience and offensive versatility give Tempe an edge over Gabriel Moreno. At first base, Freddie Freeman’s superior offensive stats, including home runs and RBIs, further strengthen Tempe’s lineup compared to Yandy Diaz of the Mobsters. Additionally, the Tempers’ advantage extends to second base with Ozzie Albies’ power and run production outshining Luis Arraez’s higher batting average.

The Tempers continue to dominate in the infield with Jose Ramirez at third base and Xander Bogaerts at shortstop, both providing more consistent offensive contributions than their Mobsters counterparts. In the outfield, Tempe’s combination of power from Marcell Ozuna and on-base skills from Steven Kwan and Austin Slater surpasses the Mobsters’ lineup. The designated hitter position also leans in favor of Tempe, with J.D. Martinez’s power slightly outweighing Yordan Alvarez’s on-base percentage. On the mound, Tempe’s starting and relief pitching, led by Gerrit Cole and a strong bullpen, present a formidable challenge for the Mobsters.

Given these advantages, the Tempe Tempers are predicted to win the series in five games, leveraging their comprehensive strengths to secure another World Series victory.

2023 WORLD SERIES

Hollywood2020

Tempe Tempers vs. Hollywood Werewolves

  Baltimore_Comets

Hollywood Werewolves vs. Baltimore Comets

SERIES PREVIEW – Hollywood and Baltimore…How did they get here…

The #2 seed Baltimore Comets did the near impossible…They upended the #1 Dynasty Tempe Tempers.  When Tempe sniffs a World Series appearance, they have no let downs, they kick it into high gear.  To put that in perspective, the last time Tempe lost a League Championships Series was in 2012 to Sacramento (4-3).  In Tempe’s 25-year history, that was the ONLY loss in the League Championships Series, and it was in 7 games.  So, to dispatch them in only 5 games was a monstrous feat.  And, to top it all off, this is the same team they traded expected Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander (28-2) to two weeks before the Annual Draft.  Baltimore put together the core of this team prior to the season.  Miles Mikolas & eventual draft pick David Robertson came back in the Verlander deal, along with potential superstar Jasson Dominguez.  #1 starter Tyler Anderson and bullpen piece Jake Woodford came over via an offseason trade with Triple Creek, but the most notable trade was the one made on January 25, 2023, linking Hollywood and Baltimore this season.  The two teams swung a deal that was expected to make Hollywood the favorite in the American League and just help Baltimore compete, possibly making the playoffs.  Baltimore sent Aaron Judge (with Mike Clevenger and a late pick) to Hollywood for what turned out to be three key bodies vaulting Baltimore to the World Series, Nick Castellanos, Cristian Vasquez & Matt Olson. The combination of Castellanos, Vazquez & Olson combined for 54 home runs and 181 RBIs.  While Judge hit 55 homers, driving in 136 for Hollywood.  It’s a trade was one of those rare ones that saw both teams reap the benefits.  That’s 7 pieces via trade.  Then you consider that in the draft they also added their closer in Evan Phillips and secondary starter Jose Quintana, makes 9 significant adds prior to the season.

The #2 Hollywood Werewolves led the AL all season, but faltered down the stretch, losing a late series to Chicago, which lost the #1 seed and home field advantage.  In the end it didn’t matter as Hollywood took out Chicago in 5 games.  The last time the two teams faced off in a League Championships Series was 2020, where Hollywood won in 5 games (as well) and eventually the World Series.  Now looking back at the Judge trade, some view that the biggest of the acquisition in Hollywood’s offseason, but while that was significant, the answer would be, it was not.  There were a series of bullpen acquisitions that turned a sad looking bullpen to stellar.  Hollywood added Cinel Perez (and Lane Thomas), Adam Ottavino, Peter Fairbanks and Jordan Romano in several trades.  Hollywood’s starting staff is some of the best in the game, but they cannot pitch long as they are often injured, so they need to be careful with their handling.  That was the reason they needed to shore up the bullpen.  Without that bullpen, Hollywood doesn’t win the division and is not in the League Championships Series.
