| Game #1: | Jacob Lopez responded well to the callup to the bigs by shutting out Long Beach for eight innings and with the help of some rare offensive support came through with a 5-0 Bethesda win. Lopez struck out 8 and limited to Dirt Bags to just three hits and a walk. Jeff McNeil (5) and Will Benson (1) homered for the Bandicoots with McNeil also getting drilled in the elbow in his next at bat after the home run and was knocked out of action for almost two weeks. Sigh. |
| Game #2: | It was death by Tyler as Tyler Soderstrom drove in Tyler Freeman twice including a go-ahead run in the top of the 10th to give Long Beach a 3-2 extra inning win. Chris Flexen continued to be the right place at the right time guy and got his 4th win as a reliever this season with Anthony Bender getting his 9th save. Shea Langeliers drove in both Bethesda runs with a pinch hit double in the 6th. |
| Game #3: | Mike Burrows gave up just one unearned run over 8.1 innings in a pretty easy 5-1 win for Long Beach. Like most teams, the Dirt Bags had little trouble handling Merrill Kelly and scored three runs on six hits off of him in the first five innings. Anthony Bender got the final two outs to get his 10th save. Joey Ortiz homered with one man aboard in the 9th to pad the Dirt Bags’ lead. Kelly dropped to 1-4 and did nothing to improve his market value as the Bandicoots continued to try and trade him. |
| Game #4: | Michael Wacha went the distance with a two-hitter in a 7-0 Bethesda win. Ryan O’Hearn, Heston Kjerstad and David Hamilton homered in the game. Wacha struck out seven and walked two. |
| Game #5: | A key error by Joey Ortiz in the 5th inning made the difference as it led to a pair of unearned runs and a 5-3 Bethesda win. The Dirt Bags made it close with a two-run homer by Kyle Teel in the 9th, but couldn’t make up for the Ortiz gaffe to narrow the gap. Mickey Moniak finally homered for Bethesda. |
| Game #6: | This game turned into an unexpected pitchers’ duel between Jake Irvin and Jacob Lopez, but the Athletics lefty prevailed and won for the second time in the series as Bethesda edged Long Beach 3-1. Irvin went the distance for Long Beach and struck out nine while walking three. Bethesda got all of its offense in the first inning thanks to a three-run homer by Pavin Smith, but the Bandicoots offense was scattered after that. Lopez pitched brilliantly for the second time in the series and went eight innings in which he allowed just two hits and three walks to go with seven strikeouts. Josh Hader nailed down his 6th save. |
