Chicago Mobsters @ Hollywood Werewolves |
|
|---|---|
| Summary: | Hollywood miraculously wins 4 of 6. They burn their best pitchers in their homes series’ this year against the best teams in the AL. Chapman (4), Judge (3) and Ketel Marte (5) lead the way with their power in the series, picking up 9, 4 & 7 RBIs, respectively.. |
Valdosta Snappers @ Long Beach Dirt Bags
|
|
|---|---|
| Summary: | In a series between 2 teams going nowhere this year, Valdosta and Long Beach split 6 games. |
Baltimore Comets @ Prairie Falcons |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Prairie working on off season golfing schedule while the Comets are trying to hold on to their 8th place and final playoff team status. |
| Game #1: | Birdsong vs Mikolas
Keibert Ruiz drives one deep in the 3rd inning for a 1-0 lead but in the 6th Birdsong delivers a pitch to Stanton – POP!!! yeah it was loud and thunderous swing and a miss strike three…the pop we heard was from Haydens elbow as he is down for the count 16 days…Contreras comes in and Benintendi takes him yard o tie it up and then Schanuel hits a PH sac fly to give Falcons the 2-1 lead. In the 7th Ruiz again gets in on the action as he didnt like the call from home plate umpire and heads to the showers early. Mikolas marvels the hometown crowd with a 2 hit CG…PRA 2 BAL 1 |
| Game #2: | Herz vs Pepiot
Neither starter gets a decision and this game went back and forth but in the end Baltimore outscored Prairie even though Falcons had more hits. Zerpa tallied his 2nd win getting support from the long balls of Stott and Bell. Nice Swing Bitch Kelly took the loss however Luis Robert did manage to connect on one pitch for a two run homer…BAL 7 – PRA 5 |
| Game #3: | Stone vs Paddack
Falocns take a 2-0 lead both from the bat of Tristen Casas – solo dinger and an RBI single but Baltimore attack was led by Mitchell with 4 hits and a double shy of the cycle and a 3 run homer by Wenceel Perez…BAl 6 – PRA 2 |
| Game #4: | Cannon vs German
Domingo night as this is first time on the hill in 2025…he pitched solid 7 innings giving up 3 (2ER) walking 5 and striking out 6 – one of those a lead off homer by Stott..Cannon also pitching into the 8th inning giving up 3 runs and the 397th career homer to Stanton…but it was Brett Baty in the bottom of the 11th with a walk off single..PRA 4 – BAL 3 |
| Game #5: | Montas vs Mikolas
Falcons trying to get Miles all the starts they can so that he gets to 50% of his innings pitched…Not as good of an outing as Game 1 but he doesnt get the loss as we go to 11 innings again – this time though Comets load them up in the 11th and Christian Vazquez hits a SAC fly and it turns out to be the Game winner. BAL 5 – PRA 4 |
| Game #6: | Contreras vs Elder
Elder comes in 3-0 for the Birds but gets roughed up for 4 runs thru 5 + innings Contreras much better going 6+ giving up just 2 but those 2 were important as they came off the 398th career homer run by Giancarlo Stanton – just 2 away from the big 400…Contrears gets his 1st win of the year and Elder takes his first loss – Rortvedt couldnt even get an at bat as he argued with home plate umpire in top of the first and Henry davis had to come in practically before the game even started..BAL 5 – PRA 2 |
| Summary: | Comets go 4-2 this series and are clamping down on that playoff spot…meanwhile Prairie placed call to all of the local greenskeepers and got some early tee times setup for October already. Stanton should get a shot at 400 next week in Long Beach unless we decide to rest him for the week and see what he can do when he returns the following week…Sorry sacramento – we dont play you for quite some time so chances of him lasting that long are probably very very very slim… |

Arboga Rats @ Tempe Tempers |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | The Tempers defense and the pitching have been outstanding this season, but will it be enough to fend off the surging Columbus Explorers for the NL Central title. The hometown crowd was disappointed the Tempers didn’t make a big splash at the deadline to improve the offense, but the early MWBL trade deadline definitely reduced the amount of available players with more teams still in the playoff hunt. |
| Game #1: | Arboga jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Singleton’s first inning three run homer. Cole and the pen didn’t allow another run and Tempe came back with homers from Ozuna and Ramirez. Munoz closed it out and lowered his ERA to 0.16. Tempe 4-3 |
| Game #2: | Freeman’s three run homer capped a five run third inning and Tempe cruised to an easy victory for Darvish. Tempe 9-1 |
| Game #3: | Another third inning rally as Realmuto, Ramirez and Martinez all went deep. Another easy win for Gray. Tempe 7-0 |
| Game #4: | Great pitchers duel with both Crotchet and Verlander going the distance. In the 2nd, Realmuto’s rbi single gave Tempe a 1-0 lead, but the Rat’s avoided a bigger inning gunning Ramirez at home. In the 6th, Verlander intentionally walked Trea Turner with runners on 3rd and 2nd to load the bases with two outs. Bauers went down swinging. Arboga again loaded the bases in the 8th, but this time with no outs. Verlander got a home to 1st double play. Turner was again intentionally walked to reload the bases and get the light hitting Bauers to pop up. Crochet was extremely effective striking out 12 over eight innings and would have picked up a win if Bauers had done anything. Tempe 1-0 |
| Game #5: | Ozuna and Ramirez both doubled in the first to give Tempe a 3-0 lead. Singleton broke the shutout in the 4th with a rbi single. Hinds popped a pinch hit double off the wall to drive in two and end Spence’s day in the 6th. Arboga got one in the 8th, but Munoz came on and got five outs for his 25th save. Tempe 5-2 |
| Game #6: | Solar gave the Rats their first lead since the beginning of game one with a rbi double in the 1st. Ramirez’s two run homer in bottom of the 1st quickly put Tempe back in the lead. Suarez took out his teams frustration on Albies and injured him for 24 days. Martinez’s rbi sac fly in 2nd made it 3-1. Another Ramirez homer made it 4-1 in the 6th. Tempe loaded the bases in the 7th, but Walker came on and got to two strikeouts. Pederson doubled Munoz’s ERA with a solo homer in the 9th, but Munoz recovered to pick up his 26th save. Tempe 4-2 |
| Summary: | Tempe trampled the Rats and Rutschman with 31 steals over the six game sweep. Tempe’s one deadline acquisition Robles led the way as a pinch runner going 9-0. Arboga only scored eight runs the entire series and only five after the first inning of game one. Darvish and Cole each picked up two wins to put them in the running for pitcher of the week. Ramirez was the hitter of the week with five homeruns. |

| Summary: | Coconut Creek takes 5 of 6. Gainesville really never had a chance with an unreliable bullpen and inconsistent hitting/defense which included 8 errors over the 6 games.
Eric Fedde had a great week going 1-0 in 2 starts (including a CG). His line was 16.1IP 9H 1ER 6K. Next week Coconut Creek continues their road trip against Titusville as Gainesville plays host to Dallas. |

|---|---|
| Summary: | Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas take 4 of 6 over the home town Harsens Island Walleye. |
Cincinnati Skyliners @ Dallas Cougars |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Battle of the Chili’s Cincinnati vs Dallas. Ohio chili looks like spaghetti with cheddar cheese while Texans will argue all day if beans should be in it. I personally like a little bit of beans.
The Skyliners come to Dallas with a 52 and 56 record (22-35 road). The home team Cougars having another long season but have been decent at home 24-27. Overall they are 43 and 65. |
| Game #1: | You know it’s going to be a crazy game when Jose Abreu drives in two in the bottom of the first with his 4th triple of the year. Rumors are starting to swirl that Jose may not play after this year. With nothing left to play for Manager Jackson moved the “face” of the franchise back to his old cleanup spot in the lineup for the remainder of the season.
Jaren Duran hits a 2 run homer in the 2nd, but unfortunately the lead wouldn’t hold up as Cincinnati scored 6 in the 5th highlighted by a grand slam homer by Zach Dezenzo – his 1st home run of the season. Dallas didn’t give up. Ramon Laureano hit a 2 run homer in the 7th – his 4th of the season. Then in the bottom of the 9th the Cougars tied the game with two outs when M.J. Melendez hit a 2 run homer – his 15th and we went into extra innings. Josh Jung delivers the walkoff hit in the bottom of the 14th as Dallas takes game 1. Final Score: Dallas 10, Cincinnati 9 |
| Game #2: | Skyliners jumped ahead 3-0 after 3 scoring single runs in each inning and didn’t look back as Nathan Eovaldi pitched 7 strong innings allowing only a single run. Chris Morel (15) and Michael Conforto (4) hit solo homers for Cincinnati.
Final Score: Cincinnati 3, Dallas 1 |
| Game #3: | It was all Cincinnati in this one as they romped the Cougars 12-2. The 2,3,and 4th hitters drove in 10 of the runs. Mitch Haniger had 4 hits, 4 RBI, and hit his 18th homer of the season.
Final Score: Cincinnati 12, Dallas 2 |
| Game #4: | The Cougars even the series at 2-2 thanks to their ace Cole Ragans, who earned his 10th victory of the year with 7.1 shutout innings. He allowed only 4 hits and struck out 6. Brooks Lee provided the offense going 3 for 4 driving in 2 with a double.
Final Score: Dallas 2, Cincinnati 0 |
| Game #5: | Another blowout win for the Skyliners as they hit 5 homers (6 total) off Dallas starter Bellozo to win easliy. Chris Morel hit 3 homers.
Final Score: Cincinnati 8, Dallas 1 |
| Game #6: | Patrick Corbin after his team took him off the hook for the loss in game 1 pitched much better in this game, but the offense must have already been thinking about the upcoming off day as they couldn’t plate a run.
Zach Dezenzo provided the only scoring with his 2nd homer of the year for Cincinnati as they had a combined 4 hit shutout. Final Score: Cincinnati 1, Dallas 0 |
| Summary: | Cincinnati takes the series 4 games to 2. |

Titusville Super Sonics @ Fremont Cannons |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Titusville is looking to stay in the playoff hunt, while Fremont tries to keep pace with the top teams in the AL. |
| Game #1: | Griffin Canning (TSS) vs Osvaldo Bido (FRE)
The Super Sonics plate two in the third. That’s all they’d need as former Cannon Griffin Canning shuts down his old team. Titusville wins 2-0 behind Canning’s 3-hit CGSO. |
| Game #2: | Gavin Williams (TSS) vs Jared Koenig (FRE)
All the offense Fremont saved up from Game 1 was unleashed in this one. Williams is chased in the second after allowing 7 earned. Fremont wins 18-3 despite a 2-HR day from Eugenio Suarez. |
| Game #3: | Andrew Heaney (TSS) vs Tarik Skubal (FRE)
Fremont gives Skubal an early cushion with 5 runs in the 1st, including an Elly de la Cruz grand slam. The Cannons go on to win 6-2. |
| Game #4: | Nick Lodolo (TSS) vs Bailey Ober (FRE)
Both starters pitch well. Brenton Doyle is ejected after arguing balls and strikes and P Colin Poche is asked to play right field for the Super Sonics. Bryan Reynolds breaks the deadlock with a solo HR in the 6th to put TSS up 1-0. Carlos Correa matches him in the bottom of the inning with a HR of his own to tie it. A baserunning gaffe keeps the Cannons from getting another. After a pair of singles, Vladimir Guerrero Jr tests the arm of first-time outfielder Poche and comes up with the go-ahead run in the eighth. Fremont wins 2-1 behind a 2-hit performance from Ober. Lodolo strikes out 11 in the loss. |
| Game #5: | Joey Estes (TSS) vs Osvaldo Bido (FRE)
Eugenio Suarez picks up a 2-run homer in the third to give TSS the early lead. Fremont is held in check until the seventh, when Nolan Gorman’s two-run shot ties it. In the ninth, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singles and pinch-runner Byron Buxton steals second with no outs. An intentional walk gets the desired result as a double play and lineout ends the threat. A single from Kyle Isbel in the tenth is followed by a run-scoring double from Gunnar Henderson to put Titusville up 3-2. In the bottom of the inning, Jonah Bride walks but Josh Rojas bunts foul 3 times and fails to move him over. Joey Bart then ends it with a two-run walkoff homer as Fremont pulls it out 4-3 in ten. Estes went 9.1 innings in a heroic effort but came up short. |
| Game #6: | Tanner Houck (TSS) vs Carlos Rodon (FRE)
A back-and-forth game saw Fremont with the 5-4 lead after six. In the eighth, Rowdy Tellez’s second homer of the game ties it at 5 each. A walk and HBP in the bottom of the inning sets up Jonah Bride’s 3-run HR to put Fremont up 8-5. Titusville goes 1-2-3 in the ninth and Fremont wins the finale 8-5. |
| Summary: | Fremont takes the series 5-1. Tellez and Suarez homer 3 times in the series for TSS. Ohtani has now gone 14 games without a HR. Titusville is looking forward to expanded rosters in September to hopefully avoid pitchers in the outfield.
Next week: Titusville comes home to face the AL west leaders Coconut Creek, while Fremont hosts Hollywood. |
Yucaipa Road Runners @ Bethesda Bandicoots |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | A good thing that this was a home series as we would never have gotten through airport security with the sasquatch-sized horseshoes up our butts. |
| Game #1: | Tyler Fitzgerald homered off of Xzavion Curry in the bottom of the 8th to give Bethesda a 7-6 win. |
| Game #2: | Fitzgerald, Castellanos and Vaughn homered in a 5-1 Bandicoots’ win. |
| Game #3: | Bandicoots hammered out 14 hits without leaving the park in a 8-3 win over Yucaipa. |
| Game #4: | George Kirby just gave up a pair of unearned runs as Vaughn and Benson homered in a 8-2 Bethesda win. |
| Game #5: | Nothing like a no-hitter to shrink your ERA and WHIP as Merrill Kelly struck out 8 and walked two as he held the Roadrunners hitless in a 2-0 win for Bethesda. |
| Game #6: | Bethesda completed the sweep with a 4-2 win over Yucaipa. |
| Summary: | Always take luck over skill. |
