Long Beach Dirt Bags @ Sacramento Capitals |
|
|---|---|
| Summary: | Sacramento takes 4 of 6 from Long Beach. Chris Sale gets his first CG no-hitter. |
Motor City Muscle @ Titusville Super Sonics |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | The Motor City Muscle visit Titusville to face off against the Super Sonics as the two teams look to get something going during a rough season. |
| Summary: | More of the same for both sides as Motor City and Titusville earn a series split. A decent bullpen might have provided a different for Titusville who blew multiple late inning leads. |
Columbus Explorers @ Prairie Falcons |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Columbus capturing the hometown fans hearts by being just a game behind the dreaded Tempe Tempers…but this could be an important two weeks for them as both Tempe and Columbus switch dance partners like it is a Swinger party…as Tempe/Bethesda play this week then Bethesda squares off with CBUS while Tempe gets things flaring with Little House on the Prairie. |
| Game #1: | Yamamoto vs Peterson In his second to final game of the season ( next week vs Tempe will be his last ) Yamamoto dazzled with a 5 hit 1 run CG Victory…Henry Davis hit a red solo cup and Yoshida had 3 hits to support his fellow Japanese teammate. Where in the world is Oswaldo Cabrera well he hit the DL just like in real life – gone for the next 10 days..PRA 5 – COL 1 |
| Game #2: | Schmidt vs Pepiot CBus had the Trifecta working as Sosa, McCarthy and Donovan all had 3 hits and Schmidt, King and Honeywell pretty much tied a knot in the Falcons offense as a all we could muster was a 9th inning solo shot from the Burger Meister…CBus 4 – PRA 1 |
| Game #3: | Sears vs Eovaldi Sears went bankrupt and had to close his doors early as he got blistered for 9 hits, 9 runs 4 doubles and a homer in 4 innings…all Falcons starters had a hit…Eovaldi tossed 7 innings of 2 hit shutout ball and we coasted…PRA 9 – COL 0 |
| Game #4: | Parker vs Mikolas Everytime I see J. McCarthy all I can think of is 90210 – I think she was one of the main characters…well she was today as she got 3 hits and a homer in this celebrity softball game and despite a Casas 2 run jack – Falcons couldn’t beat the 90210 crew. Gelof lost for 9 days – if only HyeSong Kim were here with is .400+ batting average…have to wait until next year…COL 6 – PRA 3 |
| Game #5: | Myers vs Hall Pedro Pages with a 3 run exclamation point homer in bottom of the 2nd and that was pretty much all Explorers needed as it was 6-0 when Jung Hoo Lee hit a 2 run opposite field homer in the 8th but all that did was pad his stats – we did not sniff the win column at all today. COL 6 – PRA – 2 |
| Game #6: | Peterson vs Paddock Wilson and Kike Hernandez provided all the run support for Columbus as they drove in all 5 runs…was it enough…DUh!! Yeah – Stanton went yard for the 389th time in his career but it was 5-1 when falcons crossed 2 more to close the gap…then it got weird…2 outs in the bottom of the 9th…CBUS playing a clean week…Popup into Foul territory and Correa and Buxton collide – knocking their noodles together …oh wait that was in real life…here in MWBL it was Hernandez and Torrens…Torrens lost for 16 days, Kike for 8…and the clean slate went POOF… wild that it happened on the very last at bat of the series…COL 5 – PRA 3 |
| Summary: | CBus takes the series 4-2 and at least for the moment lead Tempe by a game…as I said that Tempe Bethesda series could prove key…Falcons don’t have a lot to cheer about except their 2025 pitching as we seem to have a lot of starters getting lots of action and 2 of them looking really good. Offense on the other hand is looking rough – although Burger went yard last night after his demotion to AAA…Casas gone for season, Cabrera gone for a long time, Trout seems to continue to flop around in the water…Yoshida still not able to hold down his sushi…Gelof hurt…it is a rough time for a hitter in the Prairie…we have Stowers and Kim that’s about it…rest are sucking wind… |
Bethesda Bandicoots @ Tempe Tempers |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | The stadium was backed to see the rematch of the 2024 NLCS finalists. Both teams are also looking like front runners to make the playoffs in 2025, so this should be a great seven game series. |
| Game #1: | Tempe got on the board in the first on an Ozuna RBI single, but that was the only run Kirby would allow. Vaughn’s sac fly and Monasterio rbi single in 2nd gave the Bandicoots a 2-1 lead. DeJong’s three run bomb in the 3rd knocked out Gray. Stripling gave up a couple more runs in relief. Bethesda 8-1 |
| Game #2: | DeJong’s rbi single with a runner on 3rd and 2nd only yielded one run because Kwan gunned the second runner at home in the 1st. In the 2nd, Benson stole 2nd and came home on a week grounder to make 2-0. Freeman’s two run homer tied it in the 4th. Four straight singles in the bottom of the 4th by the Coots made it 5-2. Wong added a solo in the 6th and McNeil hit one in the 7th. Bethesda 7-2 |
| Game #3: | Abreu doubled and Albies singled him home in the 2nd. In the 4th, Ablies added a rbi double and Bogaerts hit a sac fly that gave Verlander a 3-0 lead. Tempe got another run in the 7th off Hader. Albies got his 4th hit of the game and scored again to make 5-0 in the 9th. Verlander scattered six hits across nine innings for the complete game shutout. Tempe 5-0 |
| Game #4: | Cole surrendered a solo in the 1st to Castellanos but then pitched five solid innings. Abreu’s solo in the 4th tied it 1-1 and Kwan’s two run homer in the 5th gave Tempe the lead 3-1. Cole ran into trouble in the 6th, but Munoz came on super early to strand two runners in the 6th. He also pitched the next three innings for a well earned 3.2 inning save. Tempe 3-1 |
| Game #5: | A wild rabid Bandicoot fan ran on to the field in the 1st and looked like he wanted to attack Darvish before he was tackled by security. Darvish wasn’t intimidated and actually responded with a grade bump and pure domination. Wacha was also locked in early. Tempe finally broke through with two runs in the 5th on singles from Abreu, Rosario and Realmuto. The two runs scored in the 5th were the only runs of the game. Darvish allowed two runners to reach in the 6th, but that was the only threat he faced. Wacha gave up six hits over seven innings and Darvish finished with a two hit complete game shutout. Tempe 2-0 |
| Game #6: | Ramirez’s rbi double in the first put Tempe up 1-0, but it was the only hit Kirby would give up over six innings. Gray went seven innings and only gave up four hits, but three of them came in the 4th and resulted in two runs when O’Hearn doubled in a run and Won singled in the go ahead run. The crowd wasn’t happy when Kirby was pulled to start the 7th, but pen did their job and locked down the win. Bethesda 2-1 |
| Game #7: | McNeil and Fitzgerald took Peralta deep in the 1st for the early 2-0 lead. Abreu doubled, Jones singled and Albies doubled them home to tie it. Albies was gunned trying to take 3rd. The next inning Freeman led off with a solo to give Tempe a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Realmuto gunned two runners in back to back attempts with Fitzgerald sitting at the plate. Fitzgerald then led off the 4th with a solo homer to tie it up 3-3. Coots put runners on the corners in the 6th with one out and scored the go ahead run on a weak ground out to 1st. Hader pitched a scoreless 7th and 8th. With two outs in the 9th, Cook worked a pinch hit single to bring up the hot hitting Albies… The pitch … fly ball … left center … not too deep … Friedl coming on … reaches out can’t get it … it bounds away from him … he’s after it … Cook’s around third they’re waving him in here comes the throw home Albies’s going for third here’s the play at the plate … and Cook’s … out!…just missed getting in oh, those, Bandicoots … they snuff out the tying run Bethesda 4-3 |
| Summary: | Great back and forth series with Bethesda pounding out 15 runs to easily win the first two games. Tempe rebounding to grab three in a row and only allow one run in 27 innings. Then Bethesda coming back and scraping out two one run wins (2-1 and 4-3) in the final two games with the final game ending on a play at the plate. |

Gavin Stone ran out of gas in the 9th, but tossed 8 2/3 innings, yielding only 1 unearned run, while scattering 10 hits and a walk. Baltimore swiped 7 bases off Curt Casali and the Expos staff.
EXPOS 1 / 10 / 0 |
| Game #4: | Kyle Tucker pounded a 3-run homerun (16), part of an 11 hit Expos attack, as the Expos take this one, 8-3. Baltimore held a 2-1 lead after 5, but the Expos bullpen shut down the Comets while the Tampa Bay bats got hot.

Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Fremont Cannons |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | The Bottle Rockets are hovering around .500 which should be good enough for the playoffs this year. Fremont leads the AL East but has cooled off after a hot start and dropped their last two series. |
| Game #1: | Cristopher Sanchez (TIJ) vs Charlie Morton (FRE)
A post-draft cut for Fremont in 2022, Sanchez looks to make his mark against the Cannons. He ends up going 6 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 6. Morton only allowed two hits, but with 4 walks and 3 HBP (which resulted in an ejection), he departed after just 2.1 IP with 4 runs allowed. The Fremont bullpen doesn’t slow the Bottle Rockets, and they go on to win 10-4. Corbin Carroll goes 2-4 to raise his average to .186, while also walking twice and scoring 4 runs. W: Cristopher Sanchez (6-2) HR: TIJ- Austin Wells (7); FRE- Carlos Correa (6), Elly de la Cruz (12) |
| Game #2: | Framber Valdez (TIJ) vs Bailey Ober (FRE)
A good pitching matchup sees Fremont get on the board with back-to-back doubles from Teoscar Hernandez and Elly de la Cruz. An Austin Hays single brings in EDLC and Fremont goes up 2-0 in the fourth. Ober doesn’t allow a hit until Ian Happ’s single with two out in the 7th. The Cannons load the bases in the eighth and ELDC outruns a double play to bring an insurance run across. Sean Reid-Foley walks the first two Tijuana batters in the ninth, but gets the next three to hold down the 3-0 Cannons win. W: Bailey Ober (6-4) HR: none |
| Game #3: | Reese Olsen (TIJ) vs Joey Cantillo (FRE)
Fremont gets an early run from a leadoff HR from Elly de la Cruz, but Tijuana gets to Cantillo after that, with 5 runs off of 10 hits in 6.1 IP. Teoscar Hernandez brings the Cannons within 2 with a two-run HR in the sixth, but an error sets up Ian Happ’s two-run HR in the seventh. Tijuana goes on to win 7-4. W: Reese Olsen (5-6) HR: TIJ- Ian Happ (15), Austin Wells (8); FRE- Elly de la Cruz (13), Shohei Ohtani (22), Teoscar Hernandez (15) |
| Game #4: | Marcus Stroman (TIJ) vs Carlos Rodon (FRE)
Stroman cruises in this one, allowing 4 hits and no runs in eight innings. Rodon pitches well before giving up a sixth-inning HR to Corbin Carroll. Pete Crow-Armstrong then doubles, and Dairon Blanco boots it and allows him to score as well. An Ian Happ double in the eighth brings in an insurance run, and Tijuana wins 3-0. PCA goes 3-4 with two doubles. W: Marcus Stroman (3-5) HR: TIJ- Corbin Carrill (5); FRE- none |
| Game #5: | Spencer Strider (TIJ) vs Charlie Morton (FRE)
Morton’s second start goes better than the first- despite allowing 5 hits and 5 walks, he allows just 1 run over 7.2 IP. Fremont has no trouble with Strider, who is chased after 3.0 IP with 6 runs allowed. Fremont wins 9-1. Elly de la Cruz goes 3-4 with a double, a triple, and 4 runs scored. W: Charlie Morton (7-6) HR: TIJ- none; FRE- Byron Buxton (11), Mike Yastrzemski (10), Bo Naylor (3) |
| Game #6: | Grayson Rodriguez (TIJ) vs Tarik Skubal (FRE)
Tijuana scores one in the first with two outs after back-to-back doubles by Ian Happ and Isaac Paredes. Mike Yastrzemski ties it up in the 5th with a solo HR. The rain comes down in the sixth, with the youngster Rodriguez looking fine but Skubal not as sharp. The Bottle Rockets get two on, but a double play ends the threat. Nolan Gorman sends one over the fence in the seventh for a slim 2-1 lead for Fremont. Sean Reid-Foley tries to hold it down in the eighth, but Ian Happ’s double with two on ties the game. With two outs and runners on second and third, Cedric Mullins tries to steal home but is thrown out. In the bottom of the inning, an Isaac Paredes error turns an out into two bases for Shohei Ohtani. A two out IBB brings up Elias Diaz, who doubles home Ohtani for the go-ahead run. Spencer Turnbull goes on to load the bases, but pinch-hitter Jose Iglesias can’t get it done. Edwin Uceta has a quiet ninth inning and Fremont takes the finale 3-2. W: Sean Reid-Foley (2-1) HR: TIJ- none; FRE- Mike Yastrzemski (11), Nolan Gorman (7) |
| Summary: | A 3-3 split is an improvement for Fremont, but not by much. Tijuana continues to hover around .500. The 1st half concludes with Tijuana staying in the East to play Cincinnati, while Fremont hosts Gainesville. |
