Mitch Garver capped the scoring with a solo home run in the eighth. Miller was outstanding, pitching 7.2 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11. The Muscle struggled to generate offense, managing only a handful of baserunners and never advancing past third base. The Mobsters’ bullpen closed the door, preserving the shutout. Defensive miscues by both teams didn’t factor into the outcome, as Chicago’s pitching was simply too strong. This win improves Miller’s record and keeps the Mobsters rolling.

Chicago answered in the fifth to tie it, then broke through in the seventh when Luis Arraez doubled home the go-ahead run. The Mobsters’ offense erupted in the ninth, tacking on three insurance runs thanks to timely hits from Yandy Diaz and Riley Greene, and an error by Motor City’s closer. Hunter Brown was stellar for Chicago, pitching eight innings and allowing just two unearned runs on two hits, while Aroldis Chapman came in to secure his 10th save. Luis Garcia took the loss in relief for Motor City. The Mobsters’ aggressive baserunning and late-inning execution proved decisive.

Alex Bregman added a solo homer in the fifth to stretch the lead to 8-0. Seth Lugo was dominant for Chicago, tossing seven shutout innings and striking out eight. Motor City mounted a late comeback, scoring four runs in the eighth and a two-run homer by Jackson Holliday in the ninth to close the gap to 8-6. | Summary: | The Chicago Mobsters took the series over the Motor City Muscle, winning 6 of 7 games behind dominant pitching and timely offense. Chicago’s arms—highlighted by Bryce Miller’s 11-strikeout shutout and Seth Lugo’s seven scoreless frames—set the tone, while Aroldis Chapman racked up four saves, often shutting the door in tense late innings. Offensively, Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez powered key rallies, with Bregman’s bases-clearing triple and multiple home runs standing out. Motor City showed fight, stealing one game with a comeback and pushing Chicago in several close contests, including a narrow 2-1 finale. However, defensive miscues and bullpen struggles proved costly for the Muscle. Ultimately, Chicago’s depth, clutch hitting, and shutdown relief pitching kept them atop the AL Central and underscored their status as series favorites. |

Yucaipa Road Runners @ Columbus Explorers |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Yucaipa comes into the series with the worst record in MWBL, the Explorers are surprisingly in the hunt for a Wild Card – and even a shot at the division – though that is certainly suspect with their limited depth of pitching and hitting – fielding on the other hand is their strong suit. Alvarez launched a solo home run, his fifth of the season. Alvarez finished 1-for-3, accounting for one-third of Yucaipa’s total hits. The Columbus defense played a key role in the victory, turning four double plays and limiting Yucaipa’s opportunities. The Explorers’ bullpen closed the door, with John King and Tim Herrin combining to retire the final five batters.Injury Update: Columbus outfielder Jake McCarthy exited the game in the fifth inning due to a minor injury and is expected to be sidelined for two days. With the win, Columbus improves their record and maintains momentum as they move deeper into the season. Yucaipa, now looking to regroup, continues to search for answers on the mound as Nastrini’s struggles persist. |
