Game #2: Defenders scored first in this one with two to start the game. In the 4th, Freeman doubled in two to tie it up. Merrifield pinch ran and stole 2nd and 3rd off Hedges and then scored the go ahead run on a sac fly from Cronenworth in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th, Ramirez singled and Abrue singled to put runners on the corners. Albies fly to shallow right field was deep enough for Ramirez to tag and beat the throw at home. Abrue moved to second and then scored on a pinch hit walk off gapper from J.D. Martinez.
Tempe 4-3
Game #3: Bogaerts drove in a run in the 1st for Tempe. Mateo’s pinch hit rbi single and Ozuna’s solo made it 3-0 in the 2nd. Tempe added insurance with Abreu’s rbi triple in 7th and a rare Hedges homer in the 8th. Verlander turned it over to pen in the 6th, but went long enough for the win.
