| Game #2: | Defenders scored first in this one with two to start the game. In the 4th, Freeman doubled in two to tie it up. Merrifield pinch ran and stole 2nd and 3rd off Hedges and then scored the go ahead run on a sac fly from Cronenworth in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th, Ramirez singled and Abrue singled to put runners on the corners. Albies fly to shallow right field was deep enough for Ramirez to tag and beat the throw at home. Abrue moved to second and then scored on a pinch hit walk off gapper from J.D. Martinez. Tempe 4-3 |
| Game #3: | Bogaerts drove in a run in the 1st for Tempe. Mateo’s pinch hit rbi single and Ozuna’s solo made it 3-0 in the 2nd. Ward’s rbi single in 4th and Devers rbi single in the 5th made it a one run game. Freeman’s two out single made it 4-2 Tempe in bottom of the 5th. Tempe added insurance with Abreu’s rbi triple in 7th and a rare Hedges homer in the 8th. Verlander turned it over to pen in the 6th, but went long enough for the win. Tempe 6-2 |
| Game #4: | Alomar took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th. Freeman doubled and error put runners on 3rd and 1st with no outs. The Defeners got Realmuto to hit into a double play which tied it up 1-1. Albies then doubled and Bogaerts hit his 3rd homer of the season. Blewit picked up the two inning save. Tempe 3-1 |

| Game #6: | Both teams scored two runs in the 4th in a well pitched game. Rizzo broke the tie in the 7th with a rbi single. Tempe threatended in the 7th and 8th, but Junnis and Holten pitched three scoreless inning for the save. Alamo 3-2 |
| Summary: | Splitsville – Alamo won the opener and then dropped three in a row before rebounding to win the last two games behind dominating pitching. Tempe’s big bats continue to perform below expectations. Hopefully they’ll wake up on the road in Baltimore. In a fun early season anomaly, Verlander (2.65 era) is pitching like Cole and Cole (5.45 era) is pitching like Verlander. |
