Selkirk Steelers @ Prairie Falcons |
|
|---|---|
| Preview: | Falcons still above water and playing well but this week host a tough Steeler offense led by Mookie, Adolis and the Big Peter…Can Prairie continue their hot start or will it come crashing down like at Aunt Minnies… |
| Game #1: | Boyd was stellar tossing a 2 hit CGSHO…yeah Matthew Boyd the grade 4…This was his 7th win of the season already…so far over his expected production…Casas and Yoshida each hit 2 run bombs in this 5-0 Falcon victory…PRA 5 – SEL 0 |
| Game #2: | What comes around goes around and then time Ryne Nelson doesnt get the shutout but did get his 3rd win thanks to the LONG Ball – cause Chicks dig it…Betts, Turner, Adolis and the Big Peter all with 2 run homers as the Steelers Mash and the Falcons only have a single patty Burger…SEL 9 – PRA 4 |
| Game #3: | Anderson vs Ashcraft… Yes Adolis and the Big Peter go yard but the talk of the Steelers dugout and in their hometown press was #9 power hitter Nick Ahmed…4-4 with 2 triples….you do not win many games hen the opposing teams #9 hitter has one of those days… Then again you dont win many games only having 5 hits and a single run either…SEL 6 – PRA 2 |
| Game #4: | F^&*ing Adolis AGAIN – 3rd day in a row he goes yard…BUT…this time the Falcons fly around the basepaths while keeping the ball in the park – every hitter chipped in except for Tyler Stephenson as the Birds rattled of 7 singles and 5 doubles and got 4 BB’s in Josh Fleming the Leming’s 8th ( Yes 8TH!!!) win on the year…I cant believe the phone is not off the hook with guys like Fleming and Boyd close to 15 wins projected seasons!!! PRA 7 – SEL 3 |
| Game #5: | Prairie has their ace on the mound in Bryce Elder but Selkirk didnt care…Betts twice – the Big Peter and yeah a double dose of Adolis ( 4 games in a row for the Big Man ) and the Steelers had enough of the shenanigans…Maeda improves to 4-0 SEL 9 – PRA 3 |
| Game #6: | This this game which features 27 hits only had 3 long balls and 2 of them came from the losing team..Mookie had a great lind 4-5 with 6 ribbies and a dinger…SPOLIER Alert – Casas ad Stephenson go yard for Falcons…yeah the final score was tighter than the game really was as the Steelers had a 5 run 4th and a 4 run 8th as they laced 14 singles en route to their win…SEL 12 – PRA 8 |
| Game #7: | Salvador Perez was the main player involved for both teams in this game…how can that be??? He plays for selkirk…well in the first he threw the ball away and allowed Zelof to score the first run and then called for a fastball on the outside corner which Baker shook off and Perez shook off the shake off – the PA announcer caught on and played some T Swift – Shake it off!!!! He won the battle but lost the war as Zach Gelof took that double shook off pitch downtown…lucky for him offensively he had 4 hits to lead the team and got by with a little help from his friends DJ Stewert and the Big Peter and Selkirk Rolls…SEL 8 – PRA 3 |
| Summary: | Steelers visit the Prairie and leave with a handful of wins – one for each finger and even one for the thumb…Adolis and Alonso padded their HR stats and the Falcons demise has begun…rumors were swirling all week as Falcons were opening up trade talks and someone internally leaked out a massive deal that is on the table that would stay in theme and Shake it Up!!! No not the Pillar move which was like a gnat flying around an elephant – which is about as unnoticable as Pluto circling the sun…this one has some bite to it…could just be a rumor thought you never know as news around here travels as if it was 1800’s and delivered by quarter horse…Falcons stay by the campfire next week as the Rats from Arboga come to town while Slekirk goes home to take on the struggling Sacramento team…Once again this week no injuries outside of some deflated egos and statistical anomolies… |

| Game #1: | Berrios vs. Woodward Berrios was shaking for the first two innings and Tempe jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a Martinez two rbi single and Ramirez rbi double. Woodward tossed five and the pen finished it. Tempe 3-0 W – Woodward (3-0), L – Berrios (7-3), S – Munoz (15) |
| Game #2: | Bello vs. Gray Taylor led off with a solo in the top of the first, but Ozuna responded with a two run homer in the bottom half. Volpe tied it with a rbi single in 4th. A Bleday solo in the 5th put Corktown back on top 3-2 for half an inning until Albies singled in a tying run. O’Hoppe gunned two Tempers in the middle innings which most likely saved one run. The pens took over for both starters in the 6th and put up zeroes until the bottom of the 10th when Ozuna went deep with his second homerun of the day. Tempe 4-3 W – Kerr (1-0), L – Diekman (0-1) |
| Game #3: | Rea vs. Verlander Tempe slapped four hits in the first inning for two runs. Corktown got one in the 2nd on a Bleday sac fly. Freeman sac fly in the 4th. Bogaerts and Gomes rbi singles in the 5th. Verlander works an easy five. Tempe 6-1 W – Verlander (9-3), L – Rea (2-3) |
| Game #4: | Gray vs. Cole Cole was shaky in his first inning as a Temper giving up a solo to Lowe and then back to back doubles to Mountcastle and Caballero. Albies capped a three run 2nd for Tempe with a homer. Noda two rbi single in the 4th knocked out Gray. Cole left after seven solid innings. In the 8th, the Cycle put runners on the corners with two outs and Chisholm doubled to put the Cycle within run. Jimenez came on and got Rosario to end the inning. Kwan solo in 9th gave Munoz some breathing room as he picked up the save. Tempe 6-4 W – Cole (10-0), L – Gray (3-3), S – Munoz (16) |
| Game #5: | Bibee vs. Woodward Kelenic solo off Woodward in first. Outman rbi double in 4th. Tempe only got to Bibee in the 6th when Freemen stole second and Ramirez doubled him home. Bibee finished with two hits over seven innings. In the bottom of the 9th, Jackson allowed a runner to reach, but then closed it out for the save. Corktown 3-1 W – Bibee (5-4), L – Woodward (3-1), S – Jackson (1) |
| Game #6: | Berrios vs. Woodward Tempe got going quickly with a Noda rbi double and Ramirez two run homer in 1st. They then added two more runs in 2nd on a Albies homer and Noda triple that knocked out Berrios. Tempe employed a bullpen game which worked well until the third when Perez entered the game. Caballero doubled in two runs in the 3rd for the Cycle. Bogaerts solo in 3rd put Tempe up 6-2. Taylor rbi single and Rosario sac fly cut the lead to only two runs in 4th. Perez finally settled down and Ozuna’s two run homer in the 5th put away the Cycle. Tempe 9-4 W – Little (2-0), L – Berrios (7-4) |
| Summary: | Tempe rode solid pitching and timely hitting for a 5-1 series win. It could have been a much closer series, but Corktown left 8 runners on base in the extra inning game while Tempe made every runner count. Cole looked solid in his one start of series. He’ll make two starts next week as Tempe ventures to Baltimore. Corktown looks to get their offense re-engaged at home against Long Beach next week. |
