GAME #1 – Marco Gonzales 14-9 (2.91) vs. Robbie Ray 15-7 (2.49)
Jersey scores 3 runs in the 3rd inning and holds on to win 3-1. Marco Gonzeles goes 6.1 innings for the win and Hader gets the save. Tyler Stephenson homers for Jersey in the 3rd and Toro homers for Corktown to account for their only run. Robbie Ray takes the loss for the Cycle. JNE 3 – CRK 1 |
GAME #2 – Matt Boyd 5-5 (2.95) vs. Dominic Leone 2-4 (3.64)
Corktown manages only two hits but manages to win the game 1-0 on Nate Lowe’s solo homer in the 7th inning. Both starting pitchers, Boyd for Jersey and Leone for Corktown, were outstanding. Leone was one run better in the 1-0 win. CRK 1 – JNE 0 |
GAME #3 – Anthony DeSclafani 15-10 (2.23) vs. Adbert Alzolay 13-8 (3.21)
The Nor’easters take this on 3-2 coming from behind on homers by Zack Short and Domingo Leyba. Again, both starters were outstanding, Desclafani for Corktown going 7 innings allowing 1 ER and Alzolay for the Noreasters going 8 innings allowing but a single run and getting the win. GAME #4 – Jose Berrios (12-14 4.26) vs. Kwang-Hyun Kim 3-1 (1.19)
This is the turning point of the series, Kwang-Hyun Kim throws a complete game no-hitter in a 2-0 Jersey win. Jose Ramirez drives in both Jersey runs in the 1st inning and the Nor’easters ride the coattails of Kim the rest of the way. JNE 2 – CRK 0 |
GAME #5 – Robbie Ray 15-7 (2.49) vs. Marco Gonzales 14-9 (2.91)
Any hope that Corktown could mount a comeback were quickly dashed when the Nor’easters pound Robbie Ray for 7 runs in the first two innings of game 5 and hang on to win the game and series 7-5. Marco Gonzeles wins his second game of the series going all the way. JNE 7 – CRK 5 |
SERIES SUMMARY ā Jersey wins the Wild Card Round 4-1. Except for game 5, there was almost no offense from either team. Corktown scored only 9 runs in the series with 5 of them coming in game 5, they only had 21 hits in 5 games. |
