| GAME #2 – Hyun-Jin Ryu 14-10 (3.42) vs. Zack Wheeler 22-3 (2.18)
Wheeler and 3 relievers combined to give up 4 hits in a 7-1 Long Beach win. 6 guys had 2+ hits and Solak and Perez had 2 RBI each to lead the offense. The series heads to Baltimore with Long Beach up 2-0. LBD 7 – BAL 1 |
| GAME #3 – Brandon Woodruff 14-8 (2.43) vs. Sonny Gray 7-11 (5.34)
This game was scoreless until the 3rd when Solak doubled in Grossman. Gray followed with a wild pitch scoring Kiermaier. They stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 4th on a Perez HR. Baltimore cut it to 3-2 on Wendle RBI 2B in the 5th and a Judge HR in the 6th but that was the end of the scoring. Treinen and Hendriks struck out 6 over 3 scoreless innings to close out the Dirt Bag win. LBD 3 – BAL 2 |
| GAME #4 – Logan Webb 12-5 (3.03) vs. Ryan Yarbrough 13-8 (2.81)
Another close game as Long Beach held on to win 5-4. Baltimore took an early 1-0 lead but Long Beach scored 3 unanswered runs. Baltimore tied it on a Renfroe 2 run HR in the 5th. Both teams scored in the 6th on Turner and Bell HRs. Long Beach scored the winning run in the 5th when Escobar doubled in Grossman. The Dirt Bag bullpen was strong again with 4 1-hit, 7 k scoreless innings to close out the win and the series. LBD 5 – BAL 4 |
| SERIES SUMMARY – The 4-0 sweep by Long Beach isn’t an accurate indicator of the series as Baltimore has a strong team and 3 of the games were very close. Congrats to the Comets on a strong season. |
