Motor City  Muscle @ Virginia  Sluggers

Series Preview: Two bottom feeders. I could have won more games if I had a different team.
Game #1: VIR 2-1

Both pitchers did well but VIR was able to pushover an 8th inning run and Chargois held on in the 9th for save #31. Candelario homered (15) for MCM and VIR’s J.Rojas raised his BA to .171.

Game #2: MCM 9-7

MCM scored 8 runs in the last 3 innings to overtake VIR. O.Arcia’s 3-run blast in the 7th sparked MCM’s beginnings of the comeback. VIR had 16 hits (14 singles and 2 doubles) and left 16 runners on base. VIR’s A.Trejo got his first hit of the year and now leads VIR in BA at 1.000.

Game #3: VIR 6-3

J.Segura’s Homer (11), R.Dever’s 2-run Homer (37) and E.Jimenez’ 3-run Homer (16) trumps N.Goodrum’s solo Homer (6).

Game #4: MCM 7-6

A 5-run 4th, powered by L.Nootbaar’s 5th Home Run, gave MCM a 7-2 lead they almost lost,…but VIR is not used to winning so they did what they do best,…they lost.

Game #5: VIR 7-5

A.Rizzo went 4-4 with 3 RBI and VIR’s bullpen went 3.1 innings allowing no hits and just 1 baserunner (on A walk). B.Anderson added a 2-run homer for the Sluggers (poor name choice) making it hard to call this a team effort.

Game #6: MCM 9-3

The Muscle finally showed some as they walked away with this one by collecting 13 hits. Y.Daza was 3-4 and scored 3 runs. D.Moore was 2-4 with 3 RBI. J.Candelario had 1 hit and 2 RBI. W.Ramos 3-4 with a solo HR and N.Goodrum was 1-5 with a RBI as the top 5 batters in the lineup controlled the game.

Series Summary: VIR squeaked out a split against a strong team of grade 3 and 5 starters. VIR would look forward to a winning season next year, but alas, the future looks just as bleak.
