Javier Baez’s three-run homer in the second off Dustin May gets the scoring started for Fremont. Austin Hays and Shohei Ohtani keep the homer party going and make it 6-1 in the second. May would get out of the inning but is pulled after only one out in the third; however, Pierce Johnson keeps the Werewolves in the game by racking up 8 strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Hollywood adds on a run in the fourth, then a solo HR by Jake Cronenworth in the sixth makes it 6-3 Fremont. The Cannons answer back with 3 runs in the seventh, and take the game 9-3.

W: Walker Buehler (20-6)
L: Dustin May (2-2)

HR: HOL- Jake Cronenworth (15); FRE- Shohei Ohtani (53), Javier Baez (23), Austin Hays (16)

Game #2: Carlos Correa leads Fremont off with a homer off of Wade Miley to put the Cannons on top 1-0 after 1. Marte then hits a two-run blast off of Tarik Skubal in the third to put Hollwood in front 3-2.

Skubal walks the first two batters in the fourth then gets the hook. Normally reliable Brad Wieck adds another walk to load the bases, then Nick Castellanos doubles in two. Wieck’s trouble continues as he walks another to load the bases again. He gets Paul Goldschmidt to hit into a double play but another run scores, and Hollywood takes the 6-2 lead. Elias Diaz singles in a run for Fremont in the seventh, but Diego Castillo strikes out Yoan Moncada with runners on 1st and 3rd to end Fremont’s last good threat. Hollywood wins 6-3.

L: Drew Rasmussen (3-5)

HR: HOL- none; FRE- Shohei Ohtani (54)

Game #4: An error from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. set the table for Nick Castellanos’s 2-run homer in the 1st off Shohei Ohtani. Fremont ties it 2-2 after one with run scoring singles from Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa off of Shane McClanahan. Hollywood scores two more in the third, but Fremont gets it back with homers by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Carlos Correa to tie it at 4-4.

Fremont calls on Jake Cousins in the sixth. After a leadoff double from Nick Castellanos, Cousins walks the bases loaded, then walks another to put Hollywood on top 5-4. A double play keeps it from getting any worse. The Cannons don’t get a single baserunner the rest of the way, so Hollywood wins 5-4.

W: Shane McClanahan (13-4)
L: Jake Cousins (3-1)
S: Diego Castillo (28)

HR: HOL- Nick Castellanos (35); FRE- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (37), Carlos Correa (30)

Game #5: Matt Olson and Jake Cronenworth homer in the first off of Sandy Alcantara to put the Werewolves up 3-0. Jake Marisnick singles home a run in the second to pad the lead to 4-0. Fremont loads the bases in the sixth but gets just one run on a sac fly. Hollywood gets it back with a Cronenworth run-scoring single in the seventh to make it 5-1 Hollywood.

Fremont scores two in the seventh to bring it to a 5-3 game. It stays that way until the ninth, Giovanny Gallegos gives up a double then three straight walks to bring in a run. It doesn’t get better as he then allows a run-scoring groundout and three-run homer to Kyle Farmer. Hollywood wins it easily 10-3. Charlie Morton fans ten in the win. Jake Marisnick is HBP and knocked out for 13 days.

Pinch runner Jace Peterson steals second, advances to third, then is thrown out at home on a flyout to Christian Yelich. After an argument, he is tossed, and Fremont is on to their 3rd second baseman of the game.

Yadiel Hernandez finally gets the scoring started in the 5th with a solo HR off of Walker Buehler, putting Hollywood up 1-0. Christian Yelich adds to the lead in the seventh with a two-run-scoring double. Joshua Rojas finally puts Fremont on the board with a run-scoring single in the seventh to make it 3-1 Hollywood. The Werewolves get three in the ninth to make it an easy 6-1 victory.
