Game #4: VIR 13-3

VIR knocked out 19 hits as everyone except Reynolds got hits. Segura was 5-6 but Devers was 2-4 with a double and a HR (29) and 5 RBI (73). Rizzo (14) also went deep for VIR. CIN’s J.Reddick (3-4, double and RBI) had half the CIN 6 hits.

13 hits for CIN,…everybody except Vargas. CIN jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Springer got it to 4-3 with a HR (23). Murphy’s single tied it in the 6th but CIN flexed their muscles in the 7th and 8th. Santander with a 3-run HR (16) and Urias with a PH 3-run blast (5) made it 10-4 CIN. Devers’ 30th HR and 2 more 9th inning runs were not enough to overcome CIN’ 10 spot.

Game #6: VIR 7-6

A long game (14 innings) that saw A.Velazquez tie it with a HR (7) in the 8th and Reynolds walk it off the the 14th with his 15th HR. D.DeShields hit his 1st HR of the year for CIN.

Game #1: Dylan Cease tossed 6-plus shutout innings as the Steelers easily handled the Bandicoots in a 6-1 win. Pete Alonso homered and drove in three for the winners. Victor Reyes countered in a wasted effort for Bethesda.
Game #2: The Steelers pummelled a guy a forgot was even on my roster (Spencer Howard), homering three times off the Mystery Man in a 8-4 win that looked closer than it was.
Game #3: Austin Hedges homered to help Selkirk to a 3-1 win. Max Fried picked up his 11th win and Mitch Keller fell to 0-7 keeping his perfect record intact.
Game #4: Former Bandicoot Kyle Seager responded to being on a real team by smacking a line shot over the right field wall in a 5-1 Selkirk win. Bethesda managed just two hits with one of them being a homer by Ryan O’Hearn.
Game #5: The Steelers went deep three times but had trouble putting runners on base at the right time in a 4-2 win for the visitors.
Game #6: Dylan Cease won his 14th as Selkirk completed the sweep with a 6-2 win over Bethesda. Adolis Garcia homered and drove in three with Marcus Semien and Kyle Seager homering again for the winners. Just two hits again for Bethesda.

Chicago  Mobsters @ Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary:  SWD takes the series 4 games to 2.

Fremont  Cannons @ Tijuana  Bottle Rockets

Series Preview: The Bottle Rockets host the Cannons in Mexico during the real-world US Independence Day weekend. Will there be fireworks?
Game #1: Tarik Skubal goes 5 scoreless, then the Cannons turn to de-itchifying their bullpen. Tijuana pitches well, but the defense (or lack thereof) is the difference giving up two unearned runs on 3 errors. Fremont wins 3-1. A dud as far as fireworks go.

W: Tarik Skubal (11-4)
L: Kyle Muller (1-4)
S: Giovanny Gallegos (23)

Game #2: Los Bottle Rockets get on Walker Buehler right away in the first with a two-run Cedric Mullins HR. Fremont gets one back in the fourth, then chases T.J. Zeuch in the sixth with a two-run Shohei Ohtani triple. Tanner Roark is greeted by a Vladimir Guererro Jr. 2-run homer and the Cannons go up 5-2. An Elias Diaz HR in the seventh puts it away for a 6-2 Fremont win. Maybe the fireworks show is starting?

W: Walker Buehler (15-6)
L: T.J. Zeuch (4-7)

HR: FRE- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (28), Elias Diaz (8); TIJ- Cedric Mullins (28)

Game #3: Fremont gets it going in the first with a 2-run HR from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and a outfield drop by Trent Grisham to go up 3-0. Tijuana gets one back in the fourth, but the Cannons answer with two in the fifth. Shohei Ohtani hits homerun #40 to help Fremont close out a 7-2 win. Wander Franco goes 3-3 with two doubles in the loss. Corbin Martin is injured for 8 days. Looks like a decent fireworks show now.

W: Carlos Rodon (12-1)
L: Nick Margevicius (5-10)

HR: FRE- Shohei Ohtani (40), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (29), Josh Rojas (4); TIJ- none

Game #4: Woah! Fremont must have had a mix-up with timing, because they launched the grand finale in the first inning of Game 4. Tanner Roark departed after two outs with 7 runs allowed (3 earned, though the error was his). A.J. Puk eventually put an end to the inning, but not before Fremont batted around and totaled 11 runs. Puk would give Tijuana some innings, and would give Fremont six homeruns as they cruised to a 17-3 victory.

W: Shohei Ohtani (9-2)
L: Tanner Roark (3-12)

HR: FRE- Shohei Ohtani 2 (42), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (30), Teoscar Hernandez (23), Mike Yastrzemski (14), Yoan Moncada (10), Manuel Margot (5); TIJ- Gary Sanchez (13)

Game #5: Neither Fremont starter Sandy Alcantara nor Tijuana starter Framber Valdez would figure into the decision, as it went into the ninth tied 2-2. With two outs in the top of the ninth, Shohei Ohtani singles and steals second. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is intentionally walked, but Yulieski Gurriel makes the Bottle Rockets pay with a 2-run double. Ryan Tepera gets Tijuana to go 1-2-3 to end the game with a 4-2 Cannons victory. A humdrum segment until a late flurry of excitement.

W: Ryan Tepera (5-0)
L: Cole Sulser (2-4)

Game #6: Tied at 2-2 early, Fremont broke it open with 6 runs in the third, with a Kyle Higashioka 3-run HR as the big blow. The Bottle Rockets nibbled at the lead to get it to 8-6, but two runs in the eighth put it away for Fremont with a 10-6 victory and series sweep. A solid finale in the end.

W: Tarik Skubal (12-4)
L: T.J. Zeuch (4-8)

HR: FRE- Shohei Ohtani (43), Kyle Higashioka (10); TIJ- Luis V. Garcia (6), Garrett Hampson (9)

Series Summary: Fremont sweeps the series, outscoring Tijuana 47-16. The Cannons went 12 of 13 on stolen base attempts. The Bottle Rockets 9 errors allowed Fremont to score at least one unearned run in every game. Fremont is on a 16-game winning streak.
