| SERIES PREVIEW – Southwest Detroit comes into the windy city of Chicago as a mighty underdog. As it’s been 8 long years of being an under .500 club. But these Dogs are not only fierce and loyal to their owner they are on the way up a a team to contend with in the very near future. As far as 2023, their 83-79 record got them the 8th seed. What makes it tough for them is that means they take on the big dogs out of Chicago for the Wild Card Round. Chicago won 109 games just beating out the Werewolves of Hollywood by the tie breaker and a 7-6 record during the season for the #1 seed in the American League 2023 Playoffs. Lets see how this one plays out & who will move on to the Division Series. |

| SERIES PREVIEW – National Wild Card Round – #8 Portland Lumber Jax 81-81 vs. #1 Tempe Tempers 126-36. The odds are stacked against Portland with Tempe holding the extra ghost win and the 9-3 split during the regular season match ups. |
STAT LEADER – I’LL HAVE 3 PLEASE
For the first time in 4 years, we had a hitter reach 15 triples. None other than Magneuris Sierra of the Yucaipa Road Runners.

While the 15 triples aren’t the most in a single season, it is good for a tie for 15th all-time. It is a hard stat to come by for most hitters.
But what makes this even more impressive is that Sierra did it while struggling at the plate as a whole. He finished the season hitting .173 and an OPS of just .471. 15 of his 85 hits on the year were triples and Sierra only had 7 other extra-base hits, which were all doubles.

MWBL- PLAYOFF PARTICIPANT PROGNOSTICATIONS
Playoff Participant Prognostications – Casey Hoch 08/24/2023
While some may want to try to dazzle you with playoff predictions, I just want to predict who’s getting there!
Heading into the final week of MWBL, we know that all teams will play 6 games, there are no make-up games scheduled, and thanks to the new postseason tiebreakers implemented last season, there will be no Game 163.
We will also see the second year of the 1st round “ghost win” for division champs, but this year the top 4 teams will be seeded by the record, rather than giving the top Wild Card an automatic #4 seed (I’m sure Selkirk appreciates). Continue reading
