Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas @ Chicago  Mobsters

Preview: Another I-94 Series between Detroit in the American League East & Chicago in the American League Central. Both teams are hopefuls for the playoffs, with one being more of a sure thing than the other. But how will the series go?
Game #1: Tied at 2 runs each following 9 innings, the game proceeds to the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th, until Chicago secures victory in the 14th inning with a walk-off single by Julio Rodriguez, allowing Luis Arraez to score. The extensive use of both teams’ bullpen pitchers during this game raises the question of whether it will have any impact on the outcomes of games 2-6.

Final Score: Chicago 3 – Southwest Detroit 2 (14 Innings)

Win: Jhoan Duran 4-3 (2.34)
Loss: Enyel De Los Santos 2-1 (2.24)

Game #2: Chicago hits Willson Contreras with a pitch, forcing him to be benched for 12 days. In response, the Fighting Chihuahuas also take action and target Starling Marte, causing him to miss 5 days and the rest of the series. This sparks a fiery performance from Willson’s brother, William Contreras, who impressively smashes 2 home runs and racks up 10 total bases. Despite Chicago’s efforts, Southwest Detroit dominates this game, scoring 9 runs and handing a resounding defeat to the Mobsters.

Final Score: Southwest Detroit 9 – Chicago 2

Game #4: Another offensive outburst by those pesky little ankle-biting critters. Ryan McMahon has 2 Home Runs & 4 RBIs. The thrashing was significant enough that Cincinnati will now be a seller at the deadline in three days. Jose Urquidy, Ji-Man Choi, Kyle Famer, Ban Gamel and others are available now. It is very apparent the Skyliners will most likely make the postseason, but not go very far…..
