Game #4: Vladdy homers and drives in 6. Ohtani and Hayes add long balls. Freemont easily 10-3.
Game #5: Mesa dinks and dunks their way to 15 hits, rallies late again and wins 8-5.
Game #6: Ohtani hurls a 3 hit shutout for his 9th win, 2-0.
Summary: Freemont wins the series 4-2, and probably should have swept but Mesa got some home cooking for 2 late rally wins.

Sacramento  Capitals @ Tempe  Tempers

Preview: The NL West leader visits the NL Central leader.
Game #1: The game started off poorly for Sacramento as India took a ball off his shin and was injured for 11 games. A single and stolen base by Realmuto resulted in the first run of the game when Kwan singled. In the 5th, Carpenter cracked a two run pinch hit homer off Scherzer to put Tempe up 3-0. Realmuto’s bases clearing triple in the 7th off Barria put the game away. Darvish pitched five scoreless innings for the win.
Tempe 6-0 W – Darvish 16-3, L – Scherzer 7-4, S – Strzelecki #1
Game #2: Tempe scored first on Ramirez’s first rbi double in the 1st. Nick Martinez’s 29 inning scoreless streak (all relief) to start the season ended during his first start of the season when he gave up back to back doubles to Taylor and Nido to put Sacramento up 3-1. Ozuna took Bush deep in the 2nd to tie it at 3-3. Ramirez’s two run homer in third put Tempe up 5-3. Realmuto’s two run homer in 5th off Pruit added to the lead. Munoz worked out of a jam in the 8th and pitched a scoreless 9th for the save.
Tempe 8-4
W – Martinez 2-0, L – Bush 2-5, S Munoz #24
Game #3: Taylor got Sacramento going in the first with a two run, two out, rbi double after Realmuto made a rare error. Tempe quickly responded in the bottom of the 1st by unloading on Glasnow. Ramirez launched a three run homer and then Ozuna added a two run homer. Glasnow left after only 2.1 innings. Tempe added four more runs in the 4th off Lugo and cruised to the easy win. Wainwright gave the bullpen the day off and pitched the rare complete game.
Tempe 11-3
W – Wainwright 3-1, L – Glasnow 0-2
Game #4: Pollock put Sacramento up 1-0 with a rbi single in 2nd. Thompson’s two run homer in 4th gave Tempe a 2-1 lead. Mateo’s solo in 8th gave Munoz a little breathing room as he closed out the 9th for his second save of the series. Smeltzer took his first loss of the season.
Tempe 3-1
W – Perez 18-3, L Smeltzer 6-1, S – Munoz #25
Game #5: Tempe scored first on a Realmuto rbi single in 1st. Schoop tied it with a solo shot in the 3rd. A Ramirez sac fly in third put Tempe back up 2-1. Freeman rbi double in 5th put Tempe up 3-1. Munoz picked up a 4 out save. Cueto pitched well in loss, but Darvish surrendered only one hit over five innings for the win.
Tempe 3-1
W – Darvish 17-3, L Cueto 3-3, S – Munoz #26
Game #6: Tempe got to Scherzer for two runs in the first with a Realmuto rbi single and a Kwan rbi triple. A Pollock solo homer and a Lindor rbi single tied in the top of the 3rd. A Freeman solo homer put Tempe back up 3-2 in bottom of 3rd. In the 5th, Lindor took Bass deep for a two run homer to give Sacramento the lead. In the 7th, Scherzer remembered game one and intentionally walked pinch hitter Carpenter with a runner on 2nd. He then got a double play to get out of the jam. Unfortunately for Sacrameto, Graveman replaced Scherzer in the 8th and gave back to back to back homeruns to Freeman and Ramirez. Munoz faced one batter in the 9th for his fourth save of the series.
Tempe 5-4
W – Bass 3-2, L – Graveman 2-3, S – Munoz #27
Summary: Ramirez instantly rewarded the hometown fans after the big trade yesterday with three home runs, two stolen bases, nine RBIs and a 1.312 OPS. Munoz was the pitcher of the series throwing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts and four saves. Darvish was also very good going 2-0 with only four hits over 10 innings. Sacramento’s offense was uncharacteristically quiet during the series allowing Tempe to win the tight games and pull out the unlikely sweep.

A 3 run PH double by Raimel Tapia sparks a 4 run 7th that disrupted an otherwise great performance from Lance Lynn. He had full control for 6 innings before the tough 4 run 7th.
LBD 0-3-1 LP Lynn (2-10)
