---|---|
Summary: | Cincinnati Skyliners take the series 4 games to 2 over the Detroit Crime. |
Yucaipa Road Runners @ Corktown Cycle |
|
---|---|
Summary: | Corktown wins the series 6-1. In no way was this a blowout like it seemed. 6 of the games were decided by 2 runs or less. Including 10 & 15 inning games. |
Tempe Tempers @ Harsens Island Walleye |
|
---|---|
Summary: | The Tempers destroy the Walleye taking all 7 games. BOOM! |
Valdosta Snappers @ Portland Lumber Jax

Preview: | Valdosta visits Portland. |

Game #2: | VAL 4 POR 1 Bundy wins his first game of the year after a complete game for Valdosta. |
Game #3: | POR 7 VAL 6 |
Game #4: | VAL 11 POR 1 Odor hit a grand slam for Valdosta. |
Game #5: | POR 4 VAL 1 |
Game #6: | VAL 6 POR 1 |

Sacramento Capitals @ Columbus Explorers |
|
---|---|
Preview: | 1st Place (NL West) Sacramento comes to Columbus to beat up a rebuilding Explorer team. |
Game #1: | Capitals off to a good start as Johnny Cueto fills in for a tired Marco Gonzalez and tosses a 6 hit shutout for 8 innings and the win (2-0). Most of the offense comes from Tyrone Taylor – 2 homers (7), 3 rbis and Tyler Naquin – 2 homers (5), 4 rbis. Final 8-0 Sacramento. |
Game #2: | Beat down continues as Max Scherzer gets the win (5-2) but only pitches 5.2 innnings. Tyrone Taylor homers (8) again, drives in 2 and Wilmer Flores solo homers (9) as Sacramento takes the game 5-1. |
Game #3: | Then a strange thing occurs, the Explorers score more than 1 run – in fact, they plate 9! Everyone but Daulton Varsho chips in for the 17 hit attack. Marco Gonzales (L 8-4) probably wishes he was still fatigued! Final Score Columbus wins 9-2! |
Game #4: | After the off day, turns out the Explorers did not lose the momentum. After a Francisco Lindor rbi single in the 1st, the Explorers clamp down behind strong pitching from starter David Peterson (W 3-3) who goes 6, 4 hits, 1 run, 8 ks. He leaves up 2-0, and then the Explorers score another in the 7th and 2 in the 8th leaving the Vinnie Pasquantino 9th inning homer (3) too little, too late. Giovanny Urshela maintains his torrid pace at the plate, getting 2 more hits in this including homerun #5. Light hitting Didi Gregorius manages 2 doubles and a single (but he’s still just hitting .180). Felix Bautista gets the save (7). Final Columbus 5-2 |
Game #5: | Then Columbus gets a CG from Josh Winder (W 5-3) as he tosses a 4 hitter with 6 ks. Good thing because Johnny Cueto and the Capitals bullpen also toss a 4 hitter. 1 of the hits was a 2 run blast by our slugger Robinson Chirinos (5) in the 2nd. The 3rd and last run of the game came in the 7th on 3 walks and a HBP by Kendall Graveman (8 walks on the day from Sacramento pitchers). Final, Columbus 3-0. |
Game #6: | Columbus has chance to win the series but the Capitals don’t think so. 2 runs in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd and another in the 3rd! Garrett Cooper with a 4 hit game, 2 runs, 4 rbi. Giancarlo Stanton goes 3 for 3 with a doble and 2 rbis Francisco Lindor and Tyler Naquin also each collect 2 rbis. However, Columbus gets to starter Devin Smeltzer for 2 in the 3rd on a Robinson Chirinos homer (6) adn the 3 in the 6th including a Daulton Varsho 2 run homer (7). 8-5 and still a threat, but Sacramento has none of it as they add a 9th run in the 9th and Andres Machado pitches the final 4 innings for the save (1). Smeltzer gets the win and is now 5-0 along with his lofty ERA of 4.66. |
Summary: | So it was surprising 3-3 split of the 6 games. We’ll take it and perhaps that tightens things up in the NL West. NL Central has no chance of anything getting tight unless an iceberg manages to find its way to Tempe and sink the Tempers! Nah! |
Bethesda Bandicoots @ Triple Creek Patriots |
|
---|---|
Preview: | Coots sail into Triple Creek for 7 game. |
Game #1: | Cobb was dealing the dark stuff, allowing just 3 hits over 8 full. Vaughn with the GW hit in the 1st inning.
BB 5 TCP 1 W: Cobb (2-7) |
Game #2: | Flexen “Hans and Franz’d” Triple Creek with 7 innings of shut out ball. Rainey allowed no base runners the last two innings. Marcano with the GW today. All Bethesda early in the series.
BB 5 TCP 0 W: Flexen (4-4) |
Game #3: | Triple Creek finally wakes up. It was Gausman’s turn at the doughnut machine with no runs over 7 full. Miller 3-4 3 RBI with the big bat for the homies.
BB 0 TCP 5 W: Gausman (5-5) |
Game #4: | Great back and forth game with scoring in almost every inning. This game had it all: 17 runs, 23 hits, 3 HBP, 8 walks, 16 left on base and 2 errors. After a 5-spot in the top of the 6th the Coots had a comfy 8-5 lead but the Patriots tag Rogers hard in the 7th with a 4-spot to pull ahead. Both bull pens would be perfect after that.
Wong injured for 1 game and Ashby ejected after his 2nd bean-ball. BB 8 TCP 9 W: Ashby (2-0) |
Game #5: | Triple Creek was cruising heading into the 8th with an 8-0 lead until Bethesda spiked their Gatorade. After a big 5-spot the game was much closer. Each team with 10 hits but 4 of Triple Creek’s were souvenirs.
BB 5 TCP 9 W: Wood (5-4) |
Game #6: | Bethesda scores 2 quick in the 1st but then go catatonic after that. Triple Creek erupted late with 5 in the 8th off Tate. Patriot’s homer-fest continued with 5 on the day. |
Game #7: | Triple Creek score early and often and collected another 5 run inning. Flexen and Littell were both hit like rented Mules. Coots strand 12!
BB 1 TCP 12 W: Montas (5-3) |
Summary: | It was a feast and famine type series for both teams. Triple Creek went on a rare homer rampage to take the last five after dropping the first two. |

DIRT BAGS 1 / 5 / 2 |
Game #4: | For the second game in a row, Baltimore pounds out 12 hits, but can only score 3 runs. Fortunately, Jose Quintana and 3 releivers limit Long Beach to only a pair of runs. Christian Vazquez has 3 hits for the Comets. Franmil Reyes has 3 of the 4 Dirt Bag hits.
DIRT BAGS 2 / 4 / 0 |
Game #5: | Carson Kelly’s 2-run, walkoff homerun prevents Baltimore from suffering a humiliating loss after Long Beach rallied for 5 runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game. Matt Olson hit a 3-run homerun for the Comets, Franmil Reyes had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for the Dirt Bags.
DIRT BAGS 5 / 7 / 1 |
Game #6: | Tommy Pham’s grandslam in the first, before Comets’ starter Dakota Hudson could record an out, set the tone for this one. Lamonte Wade had a double, homerun and 4 RBIs for Long Beach.
DIRT BAGS 10 / 15 / 0 |

Southbend Lynx @ Virginia Sluggers |
|
---|---|
Preview: | A not too good of a team (Sputhbend) against a better team that never gets decent results (Virginia). |
Game #1: | SBL 6-4 W- J.Oviedo (1-0) L-N.Lodolo (2-2) SV- T.Houck (9)
Tied 3-3 in the top of the 9th, K.Tucker basically gave SBL the win with a solo homer. They just tacked on 2 more runs because they could. Oh, by the way, VIR out hit SBL 11-5 but could not get the right results when they had 2 on no outs. |
Game #2: | VIR 3-2 W- J.Ryan (6-1) L- J.Junk (3-5) SV- (18)
SBL got both their runs on solo homers. Down 1-0, VIR got 3 runs in the 6th on a bunch of singles and FC’s, Ryan pitched good and Holmes did his job. |
Game #3: | SBL 4-0 W- W.Peralta (4-2) L- T.Williams (2-3)
This was all Peralta. A 6 hit shutout with 12 K’s. That’s also all the hits SBL got. They just got the right results, including 3 homers. |
Game #4: | SBL 3-2 W- N.Pivetta (3-5) L- T.McKnzie (6-1) SV- (10)
This looked like VIR’s win. Going into the 8th VIR led 2-1. But then, well you know,…VIR can’t get the results that help you win. SBL on the other hand get a 2-run jack from Altuve in the 8th and hold on for the win. |
Game #5: | VIR 5-2 W- L.Castillo (6-3) L- D.Martin (6-4)
Castillo’s game. CG 1-hitter. Yes it was a 2-run homer,…but still. Oh. He also struck out 15 batters. |
Game #6: | VIR 11-4 W- S.Baz (2-3) L- T.Henry (2-6)
VIR finally strung some hits together and pushed a few runs across. If they had spread these runs out over the series they would have won more games. D.Castillo had good game going 2-4. 2 homers, 3 RBI. |
Game #7: | VIR 10-5 W- N.Lodolo (3-2) L- C.Hernandez (0-7)
VIR jumped out with 5 runs in the first and continued from there. It was 8-4 by the 4th and basically over. Lodolo redeemed his game 1 loss with the help of three homers from VIR batters. SBL also had three homers but it wasn’t enough. |
Summary: | Somehow VIR took the series 4-3 in our face-to-face encounter. |
Fremont Cannons @ Motor City Muscle |
|
---|---|
Summary: | Fremont Sweeps! |
Chicago Mobsters @ Mesa Solar Sox |
|
---|---|
Preview: | Chicago brings its powerful pitching staff to Mesa, looking to pile on! |
Game #1: | A pitchers duel that goes 11 innings. Chicago wins it on an Adames RBI single, 3-2. |
Game #2: | Chad Pinder hits a 3 run homer for Mesa, and it was 3-2 in the 8th until Julio Rodriguez tied it with a solo homer. Mesa gets the win in the bottom of the 9th when Rowdy Tellez hit a walk off homer. Mesa 4-3. |
Game #3: | Rodriguez hits another homer. Bregman goes yard, too. Urias was dominant, winnings his 11th, 7-1. |
Game #4: | Sam Haggerty’s 2 run homer was enough for Tony Gonsolin and the bullpen and Chicago held on to a 2-1 win. |
Game #5: | Yet another Rodriguez homer! Mesa rebounds behind a homer from Eugenio Suarez and2 homers from Oscar Gonzalez, the last one in the bottom of the 9th for the walk off 3-2 win. |
Game #6: | Rodriguez (that’s 4!) and Adames hit back to back 9th inning homers for a Chicago 4-2 win. |
Game #7: | Rowdy Tellez hit a bases loaded 3 run double to fuel Mesa’s 3-1 win. |
Summary: | Against all odds, Mesa holds Chcago to 4 wins, ekeing out 3 close ones. Julio Rodriguez is a monster! |
