| GAME #1 – Alek Manoah 10-6 (2.13 ERA) vs. Max Scherzer 22-4 (1.93 ERA)
Jonathan. India gave the Capitals the early lead with a leadoff home run, and Garrett Cooper extended the lead in the bottom of the 4th with a 2-run home run. The Renegades chiseled away at the Capitals’ lead with solo home runs by Rhys Hoskins and Evan White in the 5th and 7th innings. Up 3-2 in the top of the 8th, the Capitals turn to their bullpen, and Kendall Graveman promptly blows the lead by giving up a Fernando Jr. Tatis RBI single to tie it up. It would stay that way until the bottom of the 10th when Alek Manoah, who was still in the game after facing 36 batters, loaded the bases with two walks and a single. The Renegades turned to Nathan Eovaldi to prevent any damage, but it was too late. Giancarlo Stanton gets the 0-out bases loaded single to win the game 4-3. SAC 4 – RRG 3 (10 Innings) |
| GAME #2 – Tony Gonsolin 2-8 (3.63 ERA) vs. Tyler Glasnow 12-5 (1.89 ERA)
This time it was the Renegades first on the board with a Fernando Jr. Tatis 2-run home run in the top of the 4th. Francisco Lindor responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th to narrow the deficit 2-1, but the Renegades added to their lead with a Randy Arozarena RBI double (scoring Tatis) and Chad Pinder RBI single in the top of the 6th. The Capitals again responded with a Garrett Cooper 2-run home run in the bottom of the 6th, but that would be all the Capitals could muster. The Renegades bring in Nathan Eovaldi in the 7th for the 3 (scoreless) inning save. Renegades tie the series 1-1 with the 5-3 win over the Caps. RRG 5- SAC 3 |
| GAME #3 – Collin McHugh 8-3 (2.79 ERA) vs. Eric Lauer 9-5 (2.72 ERA)
The Sacramento bats take charge in a 10-0 blowout. Giancarlo Stanton, A.J. Pollock, Garrett Cooper, and Wilmer Flores each hit home runs in the affair. Meanwhile, Collin McHugh goes 8 scoreless for the win. SAC 10 – RRG 0 |
| GAME #4 – Max Scherzer 22-4 (1.93 ERA) vs. Luke Weaver 3-5 (2.91 ERA)
Sacramento was again first on the board with a Giancarlo Stanton 2-run home run in the 4th, but Rosemere answered back with a Raimel Tapia solo home run in the bottom of the inning and a Fernando Jr. Tatis solo home run in the bottom of the 7th. Garrett Cooper gave the Capitals the lead with a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Buster Posey. Capitals win the game 3-2 and the series 3-1. SAC 3 – RRG 2 |
| SERIES SUMMARY – Sacramento had the stronger team going into the series, but Rosemere put up a heck of a fight. Two of Sacramento’s wins were late-inning one-run victories that could have gone either way, A very close series. For Sacramento, Giancarlo Stanton was the star with go-ahead RBI in Game 1’s extra innings and a 2-run home run in the series 3-2 clincher. Overall he batted .400/.500/.800 with 2 HR, 4 R, and 5 RBI in the four games. For Rosemere, they star was Fernando Jr. Tatis, who batted .231/.333/.692 with 2 HR, 3 R, and 4 RBI. |
