SERIES PREVIEW – Two American League Central & bitter rivals match up in Wild Card Round action. Detroit heads to Chicago for the 6 or 7-game series depending on who wins. Chicago only needs to win 3 Games, while the Crime of Detroit has to fight their way to 4 wins. The Chicago Mobsters won the division over the Stalkers of Yonge Street by an 8-game margin, and over the Detroit Crime by 10-Games. Still, no easy task for either team to pull this one off. Vegas odds have the Mobsters winning the series 3 games to 2.

XBryce Haper comes out pounding with 2 Hits, both Home Runs, 5 RBIs. Yasmani Grandal has 2 RBI’s as does Brett Garnder. Crhis Bassittgoes 7 strong innings allowing only 1 Earned Run. Kyle Cody chips in with 2 Innings. Detroit sets themselves up nicely for Game #2. Chicago’s ace Trevor Bauer gets roughed up and only faces 27 Batters. Bauer allows 6 Runs, all Earned, both Home Runs to Harper & trails 6 to 0 when he departs the mound. Chicago only musters up 5 hits in this game.
Detroit takes a 1-0 lead in the series.

GAME #2 – Stephen Strasburg 1-1 (5.67) vs. Julio Urias 14-7 (3.11)

Bryce Harper does it again. This time 3 Hits in 4 trips, including a Home Run. Yasmani Grandal & Carlos Hernandez also have Home Runs. All 3 guys have 2 RBIs in the game. Chicago’s #2 man Julio Urias is pounded for 7 Earned in 6 Innings. Chicago again scrapes up only 5 Hits in the game.
Detroit takes a 2-0 lead in the series.

DET 7 – CHI 3
Win: Stephen Strasburg 1-0 (3.00)
Loss: Julio Urias 0-1 (10.50)

GAME #3 – Lance McCullers Jr. 9-11 (4.16) vs. Aaron Nola 16-13 (3.51)

This one is tight. Chicago limits Bryce Harper to a Single & a walk. (Might be the keep to winning a game vs. Detroit). Kyle Schwarber & Manny Machado both have Home Runs. Schwarber is of the 2-Run variety. Joey Votto has a Home Run & 2 RBIs for Chicago. Chicago ends up with 6 Hits in the game but still falls short as Aaron Nola & four relievers hold the Mobsters to just 2 Runs.
Detroit takes a 3-0 lead in the series.

GAME #4 – Marcus Stroman 13-12 (3.16) vs. Carlos Carrasco 2-4 (5.93)

Chicago has a breakout game from Alex Bregman. A Double & a Home Run lead to 5 RBIs. Joey Votto has 3 Hits, including 2 Doubles & 2 RBIs. Chicago brings out the whipping sticks in this one. Marcus Stroman goes 7 solid Innings allowing only 3 Runs before 4 Chicago relievers close the door on the Crime. Yasmani Grandal has a Home Run & Kyle Schwarber knocks in a pair with a Triple (You should have seen the fat man run).

GAME #5 – Trevor Bauer 12-5 (3.28) vs. Chris Bassitt 13-3 (2.72)

The best game of the series as far as close & great pitching. Chris Bassitt goes 7 Innings allowing only 2 Runs for Detroit. Trevor Bauer on the other end goes 8 Innings allowing only 2 Runs for Chicago. Yasmani Grandal Homers again. Detroit ends up with 5 Hits. Mike Trout is the man for Chicago. 2 Home Runs, both solo shots, however, Trout’s 2nd of the game comes in the 13th Inning to give Chicago a 3-2 lead. Chicago scores another Run, but it’s all they needs after Trout’s 2nd blast. Gregory Soto was super for 2 Innings, retiring all 6 batters he faced, including 3 Strikeouts.
Detroit has a 3-2 Lead over Chicago in the series.

CHI 4 – DET 2 (13 Innings)
Win: Gregory Soto 1-0 (0.00)
Loss: Blake Parker 0-1 (5.40)

GAME #6 – Stephen Strasburg 1-1 (5.67) vs. Julio Urias 14-7 (3.11)

Detroit scores 3 Runs in the 1st Inning off Julio Urias & the Chicago crowd gets a little restless & on them. It takes a while, but by the 3rd Inning Chicago puts up 2, followed by single Runs in the 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th, before piling it on in the 8th with a 4-spot. Luis Arraez has 2 Hits, 2 RBis. Joey VOtto has a Double, Triple, Home Run & 3 RBIs. Veteran & team leader Andrew McCutchen has 3 Hits, including 2 Home Runs, 4 RBIs. Julio Urias settled down & ended up going 7.2 Innings not allowing another hit along the way. Chicago closes it out with 2 relievers for the last 1.2 Innings.

SERIES SUMMARY – After Chicago won game #6 of the series the Crime started packing their bags for home. The Mobsters were in the home clubhouse & thinking about game #7, when the Commissioner’s Office called & said “Hey you Idiots – You won your Division, thus there is no game #7″… The the party started. Andrew McCutchen popped some champagne & all the Mobsters started dancing and drinking & thinking about what will happen next either in Hollywood, or hosting the Lynx of Southbend right here at home in good old Chicago.
Chicago wins the series with the 3rd win & the Ghose Win for winning the American League Central Division.
