Chicago heads home for a playoff series (Most likely against Hollywood). Chicago’s not well-rested, but after bringing their own water bottles to Tijuana they are feeling better than they thought they would. |

Castro 3-5 and two other Caps collect 2 hits. Bellinger 3-4 w/ 4 RBI, Seager 3-5 w/ 3 RBI and Hiura 4-4 ( where has that been all year!) lead Triple Creek.
SC 5 TCP 13 W – Montas (1-4) |
| Game #2: | Dugger was en fuego as he tossed 7 innings of shutout ball. Alex Wood nearly matched him allowing just 1 run over 6 full. Heading into the bottom of the 9th it was still 1-0 Caps until Triple Creek mounted a rally and pinch-hitter Villar delivered a walk off double.

Harsens Island Walleye @ Columbus Explorers |
|
|---|---|
| Series Preview: | Last week of the season – tune up and rest for post season. Columbus hosts Harsens Island whose plans are based on next year. |
| Game #1: | Columbus bats scores 3 in the 1st and 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th. Walleye wake up and get 2 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd but then they falter until the 8th and 9th where they add 1 more in each inning. Ty France gets 3 hits, Nolan Arenado drives in 2. Columbus gets big games from Matt Carpenter, 3 for 4, Asdrubal Cabrera 3 for 3, 2 walks, 4 rbis and a homer (6) and D.J. LeMahieu, 3 for 4, 3 rbis, homer (8). Trevor Story also connects (21) and collects 3 hits and 3 rbis. HIW 6-10-0 LP Ryan Castellani (2-9) COL 14-16-0 WP J.A. Happ (6-2)The fun part of the game was the RARE PLAY where I’m in the script!!! * J. LAGARES facing K. MIDDLETON, B 7th, 2 Outs, 1st and 2nd, Ahead 11-4 MIDDLETON now … off-speed pitch … misses … LAGARES draws a walk … that fills the bases * D. GORDON facing K. MIDDLETON, B 7th, 2 Outs, Bases Loaded, Ahead 11-4 And MIDDLETON drops the ball! … it’s a balk! … the ump is bringing CABRERA home HERNANDEZ moves to third … LAGARES’s taking second … Fritz is out of the stands and the ump’s taking some heat … Roswell and Kenneth are off the bench Jeff, Sam, and Ileana are waving their arms phenoms Colby, Alan, Gregg, Corlise, and Bill are running over … everyone’s hopping mad but the call stands … and the fans leave the field |
| Game #2: | Well we could have used a couple of those excess runs for game one in this one – but a tired Michael King comes in a pitches a CG 10 hit SHUTOUT!!! And in addition to giving up 10 hits, he gives up 7 walks – and yet NO RUNS!! Columbus leaves 14 on base and hit into 3 DPs (2 by Jarrod Dyson). And then there was Mike Fiers – he pitches 7 innings, 5 hits (5 walks) and gives up a 6th inning solo homer to Max Stassi – and that was the games ONLY RUN!! Explorers were resting a lot of guys – but 14 LOB!! Even the scrubs should have done something with all those base runners – give King and his defense some credit, they made it work! HIW 1- 5-0 WP King (3-9) COL 0-10-0 LP Fiers (3-4) |
| Series Summary: | So we finish a surprising season with perhaps the leagues 2nd best record and berth in the playoffs – not bad for a team expected to finish 2nd to last (or last) in the early preseason scouting reports. But since we are getting old – we hope for a surprising run in the post-season (who knows, usage rules will cause a lot of weird pitching usage). |
