The Mobsters go to their closer in Aroldis Chapman who comes in for a 1-2-3 9th Inning.

Lopez two run shot in B5 got this game started. Hernandez PH triple in B6 brought the score 5-0 for the locals. Jersey tried to make things a little more interesting later on but Romo secured Gsellman perfect season start as he collected his 4th win.

A great pitcher’s duel won by Windy City 1-0. Saunders singled in the only run of the game in the first. Harvey left after 1 inning with an injury but the Black Sox bullpen threw 8 innings of 5 hit
ball to close out the win. Anderson gave up just 2 hits and struck out 9 in 7 innings but took the tough luck loss. |

Windy City broke open a close game with 4 runs in the 9th and won 6-1. Beltran had a key 2 run PH 1B to key the rally. Severino pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to pick up his first win of the season.

Samardzija broke a 2-2 tie with a RBI 1B in the 8th and Windy City won 3-2. In an unusual managing move, Samardzjia didn’t come out to pitch the bottom of the 8th as Hembree and Jansen finished up the Black Sox win.

After Windy City took a 4-0 lead in the 2nd, Long Beach came back and tied it behind a 3 run HR from Kiermaier. It was still 4-4 in the 7th when Pedroia singled in Maxwell with the winning run as the Dirt Bags won their first game of the series 5-4.

Utley had an unbelievable game going 5-6 with 3 HRs and 7 RBI to lead Windy City to a 12-3 win. Arenado was also 5-6 and had a HR as the Black Sox pounded out 19 hits.

Anderson went the distance giving up 6 hits and striking out 10 in the Long Beach 2-1 win. Peavy gave up just 3 hits and had 10Ks in 6 innings but took the tough loss when an Arenado error led to 2 unearned runs in the 2nd inning.

This was a wild game. Long Beach took a 4-0 lead but Windy City stormed back to take an 8-4 lead. Long Beach cut it to 8-7 but Beltran hit a 2 run HR in the 6th to make it 10-7. Long Beach cut it
to 10-9 in the 7th but couldn’t get any closer and Jansen closed out the 10-9 win. The Black Sox offense was led by with 5 hits along with Belt and Gardner with 3 RBI each. |

6-5 (11) PIT. Sensing a theme here? One run games reign supreme. Both Andriese and DeSclafani stink up the mound, but each bullpen is tough. Corey Knebel surrenders the losing run in the 11th for the Cycle.

2-1 PIT. Another one run game. Cole Hamels is just a tick better than Colin Rea, even though he surrendered more hits. Kelley gets save #4.

6-3 PIT. The string of one run affairs is broken, as Pittsburgh doubles up Corktown. Chad Kuhl is masterful, going 8 shutout innings with only 3 hits, 0 walks, and 9 Ks. Fernando Abad starts off the
9th and certainly lives up to his last name — surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits without collecting a single out. Shawn Kelley puts out the fire with save #5. |

A couple costly errors allowed Tempe to put three runs on the board in the 4th and home runs Votto and Cano put Tempe up 6-0. Lester’s scoreless streak came to end in the 1st when Peraza hit a solo homerun. Reynolds added another solo in the 2nd, but Tempe rallied back to give Lester his 4th win of the season. A Garcia two run homerun made it interesting in the 8th, but Law closed it out in the 9th.

Neither pitcher pitched past the first inning. Carter’s 3rd homerun of the series and a Seth Smith two run homerun put Valdosta up 3-0 in the top of the 1st. Tempe however responded with seven runs in the bottom of the 1st. A Cespedes pinch hit three run homerun in the bottom of the 1st ended being the difference in the game.
