A less than stellar match-up opened up the series, as Latos vs Locke lacked the sizzle of the later pairings. Trout and Jose(?) Ramirez hit solo shots for the visitors, but Latos was sharper throughout. Hector Gomez knocked in 3 with 2 doubles to lead the home team.

That’s the closest VIR will get to DET in this series. Kazmir (8-2) stutters in his second start, but the bullpen holds on and that guy Harper explodes for a 3-4 4 RBI day (no homers). |

The exclamation point!! Bumgarner (9-3) is,…well,…Bumgarner,… 7 innings 2 hits 6 k’s. With 18 hits and 14 runs from your offense you just cruise. K.Morales 2-4 2 homers 5 RBI. J.Peralta 4-5 homer 2 RBI. Zobrist 3-5 3 RBI. Schwarber a PH homer. And that guy, Machado, 3-5 with a home run. |

SBL 3, CHI 2 SBL somehow avoid the sweep. CHI gets 2 in the 1st on a McCutchen rbi-2nb and a Posey rbi-1b. That would be all for CHI as Niese settles in and then Familia picks up his 6th save. SBL gets a solo-HR from Altuve in the 4th. SBL ties the game in the 5th on back-toback 2bs by Cana and Peterson, Joyce would get an rbi-1b later in the 5th for the game winner. |

CHI 10, SBL 6 The final score is not a reflection of the game as it all CHI most of the way. SBL got a grand slam from Trumbo in the 8th to make it respectable. CHI got a solo-HR from McCutchen and 2 HRs from Laroche (3-run and solo-HR) to account for most of their runs. Laroche would go 3-5 with 7 rbi. |

Another game where Corktown loaded up on runs early. This time almost blowing a 7-0 lead, as the Patriots scored 6 in the 8th. After using 6 pitchers from the 7th on the Cycle were somehow able to squeak out of it with a win. Triple Creek stranded 12 runners.

This game didn’t have the the drama of the past 2 games, but a similar background, as Corktown put up another 8 runs to take a 8-4 victory. The top of the lineup looked good for Triple Creek, but the Cycle offense, lead by Andrus 3 run bomb were too much.

Triple Creek was never short of offense in this series and it continued in game 5. The Patriots put up 7 runs, 6 off Cycle starter Jeremy Hellickson, combined with a couple fielding errors by Corktown early.

This one was all Triple Creek once again. Brantley was 3/5 and De La Rosa went the distance for a big 8-1 victory.

Corktown had only 2 pitchers available in the pen going into this game. They used them both, but the bats could not get it done late stranding a runner on 3rd with 1 out late. Closer Reed struck out 2 and closed the door on the Cycle in game 7.

Series Summary |
It was a series with no pitching and many errors for all. Both teams reached the 20 win plateau, but it was the Cycle who took the series 4-3. These teams will more than likely continue to find themselves near the bottom of the NL as the season progresses.
