YADIER MOLINA – HALL OF FAME BIO
Yadier Molina’s nineteen-season career in the Mid-West Baseball League, played across the Severn Express, Hollywood Werewolves, Sacramento Capitals, Tempe Tempers, and Triple Creek Patriot teams, establishes him as an undeniable choice for the MWBL Hall of Fame. Over 2,244 regular-season games, Molina was a model of durability and production at catcher, compiling 1,889 hits, 152 home runs, and 789 RBIs, finishing his career with a .259 batting average and a .681 OPS.
Molina’s defensive prowess defined his career. He was honored with the Gold Glove Award eight times, dominating the catcher position primarily in the National League between 2011 and 2020. He was also selected to the League All-Star Game seven times, earning the starting nod twice (2013, 2019).
Molina’s veteran presence shone in the Post-Season across all four rounds (Wild Card, Division Series, League Championships, and World Series). Across 53 Division Series games, he hit .244 with 17 RBIs and provided steady offense, highlighted by a phenomenal 2012 series where he hit .400 with a .908 OPS. In 49 League Championship games, he maintained a solid .236 average, again excelling in 2012 with a .321 average and five doubles. His four trips to the World Series included a strong 2018 performance, during which he posted a .273 average and an .801 OPS. Molina’s consistent contributions with the bat and excellence as perhaps the best defensive catcher in league history make his candidacy for the MWBL Hall of Fame unquestionable.
