PABLO SANDOVAL – HALL OF FAME BIO
Pablo Sandoval’s compelling case for the Mid-West Baseball League Hall of Fame is built upon a foundation of sustained presence over 14 seasons, primarily spent with the Elyria Indians and the Selkirk Steelers.
Sandoval’s peak year came in his second season in 2010, his breakout year with Elyria, during which he was named the American League Most Valuable Player and earned a League All-Star starting position at third base. That season saw him deliver remarkable numbers, including a league-leading .368 batting average, 217 hits, 122 RBIs, and a 1.006 OPS. He was honored again in 2015 with a reserve All-Star nod.
Over his 1,401 career games, Sandoval amassed 1,233 hits, 282 doubles, 154 home runs, and 636 RBIs.
His value often extended into the postseason, particularly in the Division Series. Across 10 total Division Series games, he posted a respectable .270 average. His 2010 Division Series performance was especially clutch, where he hit his only postseason home run and recorded an impressive 1.123 OPS. While his subsequent League Championship Series appearance was disappointing, his overall regular-season performance and MVP-caliber peak make him a worthy candidate for the MWBL Hall of Fame.
