JUSTIN UPTON – HALL OF FAME BIO
Justin Upton’s 15-season MWBL career established him as one of the Mid-West Baseball League’s premier power-hitting outfielders and a defensive anchor during his dominant tenure, primarily with the Tijuana Bottle Rockets. Debuting in 2008, Upton anchored the Tijuana lineup for over a decade, playing a total of 1,815 regular-season games for Tijuana, Sacramento, Tempe, and Triple Creek.
His career statistics cement his Hall of Fame case, finishing with 284 home runs, 945 RBI, 1,580 hits, and 339 doubles. His peak performance came in 2018, when he showcased his prodigious power by blasting a career-high 35 home runs and driving in 119 runs, resulting in a remarkable .900 OPS. Upton was twice selected as a League All-Star reserve (2015, 2018). His elite status as a defender was undisputed, earning him back-to-back Gold Glove Awards in 2016 and 2017.
Crucially, Upton consistently delivered in the clutch throughout his career. He was often at his best when the lights were brightest, notably posting an outstanding 1.292 OPS with 3 home runs and 7 RBI in the 2012 Division Series. Furthermore, he registered a nearly .900 OPS (.887) in his 2010 World Series appearance. This rare combination of sustained offensive production, elite defense, and clutch post-season heroics makes Justin Upton an undeniable MWBL Hall of Fame inductee.
