JON LESTER – HALL OF FAME BIO

Jon Lester’s 16-season Mid-West Baseball League career makes him an unquestionable choice for the MWBL Hall of Fame. A true cornerstone pitcher, Lester compiled 206 career regular-season victories, 2,552 strikeouts, and a sharp 3.21 ERA across 2,866.2 innings, pitching for the New River Road Runners, Elyria Indians, Long Beach Dirt Bags, Tempe Tempers, Hollywood Werewolves, and Valdosta Snappers teams.

His statistical zenith came in the 2017 season with the Tempe Tempers, where he dominated the National League to secure the prestigious Cy Young Award after posting an incredible 25-5 record with a league-best 1.82 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. Lester was recognized as an elite talent throughout his tenure, garnering five total League All-Star selections (2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017), including a starting nod in 2017. Notably, his All-Star Game statistics were perfect, registering a save and 4 strikeouts with a 0.00 ERA over 2.5 combined innings of work.

However, Lester’s true legacy rests on his postseason clutch performances. He was the definition of dominant in the high-stakes Wild Card Round, throwing 20.1 career innings without allowing a single earned run. Most notably, he led the Tempe Tempers to the World Series title in 2017, capping off his Cy Young season by delivering a spectacular World Series Most Valuable Player performance. In the final round, he was 2-0 with a stellar 1.46 ERA and microscopic 0.16 WHIP over 12.2 innings, solidifying his status as one of the great championship pitchers in MWBL history.
