JIMMY ROLLINS – HALL OF FAME BIO

The case for Jimmy Rollins’ induction into the Mid-West Baseball League Hall of Fame is built upon nearly two decades of elite defense, consistent offensive production, and invaluable leadership in the postseason. Rollins played 17 total seasons in the MWBL, suiting up for the Johnstown Johnnies, Tijuana Bottle Rockets, Kentucky Head Hunters, Motor City Muscle, Sacramento Capitals, Pittsburgh Lumber Company, Clovis Wheat Kings, Bethesda Bandicoots, and Hollywood Werewolves.

Rollins was a defensive stalwart throughout his career, earning five Gold Glove Awards at shortstop (2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2015). Offensively, he retired as a prolific two-way threat, accumulating 2,134 hits, 1,192 runs, 219 home runs, and surpassing the 1,000 RBI mark, finishing with 1,009. His speed was consistently elite, stealing 443 bases over his career. Rollins was also recognized by his peers and fans, earning three League All-Star selections (2008, 2009—a starter —and 2013). His 2008 season earned him the runner-up for the MVP award after batting .309/370/.543 with 32 HR, 132 RBI, and 49 SB.

However, his highest value was demonstrated in October. In 32 career Division Series games, Rollins was a clutch performer, posting a stellar .281 batting average, .361 on-base percentage, and a powerful .521 slugging percentage for an outstanding .882 OPS, along with 16 stolen bases. His best playoff showings came with the Kentucky Head Hunters, notably during the 2009 Division Series, where he hit two home runs with a .429 average. He maintained this clutch reputation into the World Series, where he holds a career .273 average and two home runs in nine games, driving in three runs. Rollins’s regular and post-season accolades cement his legacy as one of the MWBL’s most impactful shortstops.
