GREG HOLLAND – HALL OF FAME BIO

Greg Holland’s ten-season Mid-West Baseball League career stands as a testament to relief pitching dominance, making him a worthy addition to the MWBL Hall of Fame class. Primarily anchoring the bullpen for the Tempe Tempers, Holland established himself as the league’s preeminent closer for a significant stretch.

Holland was a two-time Rolaids Reliever of the Year winner (2012, 2014) and a three-time League All-Star (2012, 2014, 2015), earning a starting nod in 2014. His peak years were defined by nearly untouchable pitching. In 2014, he posted a staggering 0.79 ERA and a 0.66 WHIP—both elite marks—while accumulating a career-high 41 saves. He finished his regular season career across ten seasons with 141 saves, 48 wins, and 695 strikeouts over 597.2 innings, boasting an impressive career 2.80 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with the Tempers, Sacramento Capitals, and Triple Creek Patriots.

Holland’s value truly shone in the pressure cooker of the Post-Season. In 46 total playoff appearances, he was a reliable force across the Wild Card Round, Division Series, League Championship Series, and the World Series. He recorded 7 total Post-Season saves, including a clutch save in the 2015 World Series. His performance on the biggest stage was exceptional, highlighted by a dominant 1.16 ERA and 0.77 WHIP over 15.2 innings pitched in the World Series. Demonstrating his elite status in high-stakes games, Holland was also flawless in All-Star competition, recording 3 strikeouts over 1.2 innings with a perfect 0.00 ERA. His peak dominance and clutch playoff performance solidify his place among the MWBL’s greatest relief pitchers.
