“FAREWELL WASHBURN, FARWELL”
Sacramento / Los Angeles fan will admit, this was a very emotional trade for them, despite great advice from the Tempe Tempers to never become attached to players. Los Angeles drafted Washburn as a minor leaguer in 1998, and he has been exceptionally solid and a mainstay on the Los Angeles Riots / Sacramento Capitals pitching staff for 12 MWBL seasons.
Washburn ends his Sacramento / Los Angeles career having pitched in 355 games (263 starts) with a 3.44 ERA, a 127-65 W-L record, and only ONE season with a sub-.500 record. Washburn was not only a very consistent pitcher, he was a heck of a batter—leaving with a .261 career batting average, 74 runs and 45 RBI in 578 AB. Not bad at all … and easily my most consistent pitcher for 12 years.
Farewell Washburn, Farewell.
