CHICAGO LANDS COVETED OUTFIELDER BOBBY HIGGINSON
For Immediate Release
January 6, 2000
Chicago – The Chicago Mobsters, 3 years after the made it known that they were interested in Columbus outfielder Bobby Higginson, went out and finally got there man. Higginson, a likely candidate for the starting left field job, was extremely happy to be moving out of Columbus. Higginson was quoted as saying “Columbus was a nice place to play, but I didn’t want to go through the rebuilding process that has begun there, so the best thing for me to was move on. I look forward to getting the opportunity to play in Chicago and just want to go out, play them one game at a time, and hopefully help my new ball club”. On Columbus side of the deal was pitcher Charles Nagy and outfielder Rickey Henderson. Though Henderson was just a name in this deal, because two minutes after this press conference he was traded away to Connecticut in a larger deal.  Nagy looks to be a nice fixture in the Explorers rotation, and should provide them with a fair amount of wins. The deal works as follows:
Chicago Receives:Â Bobby Higginson, Columbus 3rd round picks in 2000 MWBL Draft, & Columbus 6th round picks in 2000 MWBL Draft.
Columbus Receives: Charles Nagy, Rickey Henderson, & Cantons 8th round picks in 2000 MWBL Draft.
