FREMONT

CANNONS

vs.

SACRAMENTO

CAPITALS

SERIES PREVIEW –The stage is set for a heavyweight showdown between two powerhouse clubs — the 119-win Sacramento Capitals (119-43) and the Fremont Cannons (110-52) — in a World Series that promises fireworks from the start. Sacramento, the National League’s top seed and winner of the NL West, enters the Fall Classic riding a wave of momentum after a big comeback victory in the NLCS, powered by a relentless lineup and a lock-down bullpen. Fremont, champions of the American League and winner of the AL East, counters with a roster built on power and precision — a deep rotation and explosive bats that turn the routine into the spectacular.

The two teams matched up well: while Sacramento has a clear defensive advantage (a .986 FLD versus Fremont’s .981 FLD), Fremont pitching staff produced a lower ERA (a 2.89 ERA versus Sacramento’s 2.94 ERA), and both clubs allowed 3.37 runs per game. Sacramento brings a slight advantage offensively, with a .268/.336/.466 line, 266 home runs, 96 stolen bases, and a 5.6 R/G, while Fremont is not far behind sporting a .259/.332/.449 line, 236 home runs, 102 stolen bases, and 5.2 R/G. This is the clash everyone anticipated all season: two juggernauts, each determined to cement their legacy, colliding on baseball’s grandest stage.

This is Sacramento’s 4 trip to the World Series, and first since 2018, and Fremont’s second appearance—the Cannons recently took home the trophy in 2022. Neither team has lost a World Series, but one will in 2025.

SERIES PREVIEW – Power vs. Pitching: Sacramento and Tempe Clash for National League Supremacy

The National League Championship Series features a thrilling matchup of two dominant clubs: the West Division-winning Sacramento Capitals (119-43) and the Central Division champion Tempe Tempers (115-47). The Capitals, who led the entire league in wins and produced a prolific offense totaling 900 runs, prepare to face a Tempe club that boasts the lowest team Earned Run Average (ERA) in the league at 2.56 and top-tier defense, exemplified by their .989 fielding percentage. Sacramento’s success is fueled by elite power hitters like Brent Rooker, who led the club with 55 home runs and 125 runs batted in (RBI), alongside Jurickson Profar, the team leader in batting average (.305) and runs scored (133). Tempe counters this slugging ability with a deep pitching staff that includes 19-game winners Sonny Gray and Freddy Peralta, and an exceptional bullpen anchored by closer Andres Munoz, who notched 35 saves with a remarkable 0.24 ERA across 76.0 innings of relief. Whether the Capitals’ powerful core—featuring Francisco Lindor (33 HR, 105 RBI) and Rooker, who combined for over 258 Runs Created—can overcome Tempe’s stellar rotation, which also includes Yu Darvish (1.69 ERA) and Gerrit Cole (2.90 ERA), will determine who advances to the championship final. On the Sacramento side, star starters Shota Imanaga (24-3, 1.93 ERA) and Chris Sale (18-8, 2.27 ERA) will look to neutralize Tempe’s biggest threat, third baseman Jose Ramirez, who hit 50 home runs and drove in 127 RBI, and is key to Tempe’s relatively lower-scoring offense (761 runs).

Series Odds:  Sacramento Capitals: -150 Tempe Tempers: +130

2025 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Detroit

Crime

vs.

Fremont

Cannons

SERIES PREVIEW – The AL #2 seed Fremont Cannons take on the #4 seed Detroit Crime. Landing in the top Wild Card spot, Detroit has their best team since the 2021 COVID-shortened season, where they made it all the way to the World Series. They battled past the top team in the AL in six to get to the ALCS. The Cannons have made it for the fifth year in a row, and fought a tough 7-game series with Coconut Creek to get here. Detroit had the better of Fremont in the regular season, going 8-5.

Batting: Fremont was the 2nd highest scoring team in the AL, while Detroit was #8, more than 200 runs behind. The Crime finished 7th in home runs compared to the Cannons second-place in the category. Fremont has a significant edge in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging average.

Baserunning: Both teams were middle-of-the-pack in steals, with Fremont picking up just one more than Detroit. The Cannons were more successful when running, at 77.3% compared to the Crime’s 74.8% success rate.

Pitching: Detroit’s fearsome rotation helped them top the AL in team ERA at 2.76, compared to Fremont’s 3rd-best 2.89. Fremont had a slight edge in relief ERA (2.71 to 2.79) and brings some low innings/high grade relievers to the postseason. The Cannons had just a two strikeout edge over the Crime, while Detroit’s control was better with 391 walks allowed to 433 for the Cannons.

Fielding: Detroit has the edge here with the AL’s 3rd best fielding percentage of .983 to Fremont’s .981

Triple Creek

Patriots

vs.

Tempe

Tempers

SERIES PREVIEW – In a highly anticipated showdown, the Tempe Tempers and the Triple Creek Patriots are set to face off in a best-of-seven series that promises to be a tight contest, as they finished the regular season with a deadlocked 6-6 record against each other. Both teams have a strong presence in the National League, with the Tempers leading the Central division and the Patriots holding a strong position in the East division.

Tempe Tempers: Key Players to Watch
The Tempe Tempers’ success is heavily reliant on their pitching staff, particularly their starting rotation. Leading the charge is Freddy Peralta, who has a 19-11 win-loss record and a 0.633 winning percentage. He also leads the team in innings pitched with 207.1 and has an impressive 22 quality starts. Shane Gray is another dominant force on the mound, with a team-high 256 strikeouts and a stellar 3.01 ERA. He also has the lowest Baserunners Per 9 Innings (BR/9-s) among starters at 9.3. On the offensive side, Jose Ramirez is a major contributor, leading the team in runs (109), runs batted in (127), and hits (174). He also leads the team in total average (TA) with a .933.

Triple Creek Patriots: Key Players to Watch

The Triple Creek Patriots counter with their own set of aces. On offense, Corey Seager and Jonathan India are crucial to the team’s production. Seager leads the team in home runs with 28 and has the highest total average (TA) at .780. India leads the team in walks (75) and has created 73.2 runs. On the pitching side, starting pitcher Jose Quintana has the lowest ERA at 2.43 and has prevented the most earned runs with 25.3. The Patriots also boast a formidable bullpen, anchored by Matt Strahm, who has a team-leading 35 saves and the highest save opportunity percentage at 94.6%. Strahm also has the lowest ERA for a relief pitcher on the team at 0.93.

Series Impact

The series could very well come down to a battle of the bullpens. While the Tempers’ starters Gray and Peralta are dominant, the Patriots’ relief corps, led by Strahm and Jimenez, have been incredibly effective at preventing runs and securing wins. Whichever team’s bullpen can better hold a lead late in the game will likely emerge victorious. The offensive matchup between the Tempers’ Ramirez and the Patriots’ Seager will also be a key factor in the series
