A.L. CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – TIJ @ HOL G#6

Game 6 – Zack Greinke vs. David Price.Â
Last time Hollywood was home, they had their tails tucked between their legs as Tijuana manhandled them in game 1 and shut ’em out in game 2. They now return how hoping to make it 4 wins in a row. They did the improbable. After losing the first 2 games at home, they went on the road to win 3 games, only to bring the season back to Hollywood. Tijuana sends out Greinke again, while Hollywood counters with game 3 winner, Price. Price has come up big in the post season so far, having gone 2-0 in the DS – winning the clinching game – and now goes for Hollywood in another clinching game.

Game #5 –Â Alexi Ogando vs Jered Weaver.Â

With the series tied at 2, it now turns out to be a best of 3. In a series, which was dominated by Tijuana’s hitters in game 1, has turned into a pitching duel after all.   The last time Hollywood faced Ogando, they were no-hit by him for 5 1/3 innings enroute to a 2-0 shutout. Since that game, Hollywood has turned it around and they have shutout Tijuana’s high voltage offense for 10 straight innings. If Weaver pitches like he did in game 2, we could have another good one.
Ogando starts the 1st inning with 2-quick outs before walking Alex Gordon, but then induces Ian Kinsler on a bounce out for the 3rd out.

Game #4 –Â Justin Verlander vs. Brandon McCarthy
The hometown Sacramento Capitals host a must-win Game 4 championship game. Down 2 games to 1, a Capitals loss would put them in a hole out of which–with the prospect of Matt Cain back on the mound–they may never escape. While the first three games have been extremely close–with a total score of 15-13 in favor of Tempe–Sacramento knew that success would depend to some extent on Verlander’s ability to keep Adrian GONZALEZ in check. Through the first three games, AGONE had batted .545 with 3 runs, 4 RBI, 3 doubles, and 2 home runs. Simply put, GONZALEZ has been killing the Capitals. Game #4:Â Clayton Kershaw vs Ian Kennedy

In a rematch of game 1, Tijuana seems supremely confident since they trashed Kershaw 12-1 already.   The game remains relatively quiet until the bottom of the third. With 1-out, Hanley Ramirez doubles to center. This brings up Ben Zobrist. Speedy Ramirez edging toward third … pitcher steps off … Kershaw’s back on the rubber the pitch … he swings … no he held up and Zobrist heads to first. Kershaw seems frustrated that the pitch was called a ball and steps off the rubber and does a circle around the mound.  Ian Kinsler calls time and heads to the mound to chat with Kershaw. Continue reading

Game #3 –Â Cliff Lee v. Matt Cain

Both teams understood the importance of Game 3 in this series, and so both teams were determined to bring back their rested Game 1 pitchers for Round 2. Game 3, however, presented much greater urgency for Sacramento, and Tempe knew it. Down 2-0 against the best manager MWBL has ever experienced and the best team of the 2012 season, Sacramento was on the verge of digging itself into a hole it may not be able to dig itself out of. Sacramento manager, George Skiles, knew his team needed to strike first, strike hard and, well, show no mercy (thank you, Karate Kid).
