BUSTER POSEY – HALL OF FAME BIO
Buster Posey’s exceptional 12-season Mid-West Baseball League career defines what it means to be a Hall of Fame talent. Primarily playing for the Chicago Mobsters before concluding his career with the Sacramento Capitals, Posey redefined offensive expectations for the catcher position.
Over his career, he amassed 1,465 hits, 165 home runs, and 729 RBIs, maintaining a stellar career batting average of .296 and an impressive .813 OPS. His peak dominance was highlighted by a phenomenal 2013 season, during which he slashed .340/.412/.540 and finished third in MVP voting.
Posey was a perennial selection, earning seven All-Star nods and demonstrating his ability to rise to the occasion. His All-Star Game performances were legendary, resulting in a career .333 average and a monstrous 1.111 OPS, highlighted by his 2011 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award. He later added defensive hardware with a Gold Glove in 2022 with the Capitals.
Crucially, Posey elevated his game in the postseason across all four rounds of play. While consistently productive in the Wild Card and Division Series, he delivered massive performances in the later rounds. He was a pillar of Chicago’s 2013 World Series team, hitting .350 with a 1.159 OPS and two home runs. Even in his final season, he led the Sacramento Capitals in the 2022 League Championship Series with a remarkable 1.215 OPS and four home runs in that series alone.
Buster Posey’s combination of sustained regular-season excellence, defensive acumen, and unforgettable clutch postseason heroics makes him an undeniable selection for the MWBL Hall of Fame.
