TIM WAKEFIELD – Mr. VERSATILITY

Tim Wakefield will be starting his sixth season with the Buffalo Braves. Since coming over to Buffalo in 2002, Tim has been a steady performer and the anchor of the Braves pitching staff. He has compiled a record of 53-46 and recorded 564 strikeouts in five seasons. The 40 year old Knuckle-baller has proved that an “old guy” can perform very well in the MWBL.
“When I was traded to Buffalo I knew that I had found a home here.” Tim was a youthful 35 years old at the time. “I knew that if I could keep my Knuckler going, I would be here for a long time. I love this place. We are always a veteran team, so we take our game seriously. Management here has a reputation for bringing in solid veterans and making them perform beyond everyone’s expectations because they know that with all the experience here they can perform well under pressure and this team will always be competitive.”
Tim is not only a team leader, he is very involved off the field, taking part in many charitable events around the Buffalo area and in his home state of Florida. He loves being involved in the community and doesn’t know the word NO.   Manager Wally Walczak says that Tim Wakefield was one of the better acquisitions that Buffalo has made over the years. “Tim is a great leader for us on the field and in the locker room. He has proved to the league that older can be better. We hope to have him around for a few more years! He has done everything that we have asked of him and more. He has been primarily a starter in the Braves rotation, but will also come in at times to relieve. Being a Knuckler, he can pitch for us on just a few days rest. I guess that’s why they call him Mr. Versatility.”
