KEVIN APPIER THROWS NO HITTER AGAINST NORTHRIDGE
For Immediate Release
July 27, 2000
ESPN NEWS (Bristol) – Kevin Appier went out today and did his best, and his best was 2 mistakes away from perfect.  A throwing error by catcher Tom Prince, and a base on balls by Appier himself, was the 2 mistakes away from a perfect game.  But in the end Kevin Appier and the Santa Fe Devils came away with teh second No-Hitter of the 2000 MWBL season. Appier improved a dismal record to 4-6, and lowered his ERA to 4.64   In his press conferance Appier said all the right things, and his best quote was “some days you win, some days you lose, other days, you throw a No-Hitter and feel like a million bucks”.  Appier said he was looking forward to holding a spot in the Santa Fe rotation for a few more starts.  “Hopefully I can be around when the playoffs start, and I sure am hoping I can make the playoff roster.  I know I have it in me, to throw like that again, maybe against Kentucky.   The offense in the 7-0 win, was provided by Luis Gonzalez, and Shawn Green, who both collected 3 hits.  Appier even “help his own cause” (reporter cliche) by taking a walk, and scoring a run in the game.
