In the eighth, Shohei Ohtani provided crucial insurance by launching a solo home run off reliever Felix Bautista. Anthony Bender then locked things down with two perfect innings of relief to secure his 16th save. The Mobsters scratched across a run in the bottom of the eighth on a Xavier Edwards single, but Anthony Bender closed out the ninth to lock down his 17th save. Bethesda Bandicoots @ Columbus Explorers
Preview:	Bethesda comes to Columbus thinking about the future, while Columbus works to stay atop the Wild Card hunt. Lots of changes in the pitching world, and this week’s GAME 3 is ONE NOT TO MISS – we’re talking PERFECTION! The opposition’s rebound in Game 4 is not too shabby either.
Game #1:	This game looks a little closer in the abbreviated short line score, but it wasn’t close after Columbus plated 7 runs in the 7th. Jeff McNeil launched a 1-out solo homer (14) in the 1st off Clarke Schmidt, but that was Schmidt’s last moment of weakness. He goes 6 innings, 3 hits, 6 Ks, and the one run. Meanwhile, the Explorers hit up Bethesda starter Michael Wacha for 11 hits and 5 runs through 6. And that was before the 7-run 7th. Trent Grisham homers (27) for 3 runs, Chase Meidroth goes 4 for 5, and Enrique Hernandez has a 3 for 4 day with 4 RBIs. McNeil adds a 2nd homer (15) and 2 more rbis and David Hamilton (17) homers for 3 in the 9th to make the final 13-6 seem closer. BET 6-10-0 LP Wacha (10-10) COL 13-18-0 WP Schmidt (4-2) S Garcia (1)
Game #2:	Columbus gets the 1st run in this one on a Nathan Lukes SF in the 1st. Andrew Vaughn ties it up in the 6th with a solo homer (5) off Shane Smith. But Smith gets help in the bottom half when Columbus scores 3 times, 2 of the runs on a Pedro Pages 2-run PH single. David Hamilton makes it interesting in the 9th with a 2 run homer (18), but Abner Uribe comes in to quash anymore chances as Columbus hangs on for 4-3 win. Game #3:	EXPLORERS CRUISE AS EOVALDI TOSSES PERFECT GAME COLUMBUS — August 15, 2026 History was made under the Saturday night lights at Huntington Park as Columbus right-hander Nathan Eovaldi delivered a masterpiece for the ages, hurling a 27-up, 27-down perfect game to defeat the Bethesda Bandicoots 2–0. Eovaldi (9-3) was utterly untouchable, needing just 98 pitches to dismantle the Bethesda lineup. He racked up 11 strikeouts—including a dynamic final punch-out of pinch-hitter Will Benson to seal the historic achievement. The Bandicoots’ bats never found an answer, failing to produce a single hit, walk, or baserunner. “Everything just felt in sync tonight,” an emotional Eovaldi said post-game. “The defense made incredible plays behind me, and after the seventh, you just try to stay in your routine and breathe.” While Eovaldi stole the headlines, the Columbus defense and timely baserunning provided the critical support. Second baseman Adam Frazier made two stellar diving plays to deny Jake Meyers in the fourth and Jeff McNeil in the seventh, preserving the perfect bid. Offensively, Dansby Swanson provided all the cushion Eovaldi would need, crushing a solo home run off Bethesda starter Chris Paddack (2-3) in the bottom of the second inning. The Explorers added an insurance run in the fourth when Gabriel Arias laced an RBI double to deep left-center, scoring Frazier. Columbus threatened for more with a total of 12 hits on the night—including a 3-for-4 performance from Chase Meidroth—but was stifled by a base-running blunder when Arias missed third base on an appeal play, wiping a run off the board. Ultimately, it didn’t matter. Eovaldi cruised through the final frames with clinical precision. In the top of the ninth, he struck out Pavin Smith, induced a shallow fly out from Nolan Jones to center fielder Johan Rojas, and blew a final strike past Will Benson to finalize the gem. Despite the loss, Paddack pitched remarkably well under heavy traffic, yielding two runs on 11 hits over seven resilient innings. However, on a night belonging entirely to Nathan Eovaldi‘s perfection, the Bandicoots were simply destined for the history books. Game #4:	Well, after getting the short end of a perfect game, what do you do? Come back with a vengeance! And that’s just what the Bandicoots do! Jeff McNeil goes 3 for 3 (and gets beaned twice) and homers (16) and scores twice. Shea Langeliers gets 1 hit, but it was a 2-run homer (24), and Ramon Urias adds a solo connection (11) as Bethesda answers the perfect game with a 5-0 win. Actually, it looked like Mitch Keller (selected at random by the game since no starter was assigned) was about to follow the perfect game with a no-hitter. But Pedro Pages broke it up in the 7th, and there were only 2 more Columbus hits in the game. Keller’s line: 9 IP, 3 hits, 3 walks, 9 Ks and NO RUNS! Game #5:	The brooms were left home after game 4, but the Explorers quickly rebounded from the blanking with 2 runs in the opening inning as Nathan Lukes lashes a pea down the RF line for a 2-run double off Jeffrey Springs. In the 5th, Jake Meyers cuts the score to 2-1 with an RBI single. But Columbus adds a bunch of insurance in the 6th when Jordan Beck wakes up and unloads a 3-run bomb (16) to give the home team a 5-1 lead. Andruw Monasterio comes in a pinch-hitter and cracks a solo homer (1) making it 5-2, but it was too little, too late. BET 2-7-0 LP Springs (8-10) COL 5-6-0 WP David Peterson (11-8) S Abner Uribe (28)
Game #6:	In the series finale, the teams play out a close fight. Shea Langeliers opens the scoring with a solo homer (25) in the 1st. Jake Burger, back in the lineup after 8 days, launches a 2-run shot (6) in the 4th, giving starter Michael Wacha a nice 3-0 lead. Clarke Schmidt was giving up few hits (4) in his 7 innings, but 2 of them were homers. And Wacha was being stingy, Columbus getting 1 in the 4th and then scratching out another in the 7th, ending Wacha’s day. But he left with a 3-2 lead. That lead evaporated in the 8th when Jared Triolo cleared the bases with a 3-run double off Juan Mejia, thus finishing the meltdown started by loser Reid Detmers, who gave up a walk and 2 hits and 3 of the 4 Columbus runs scored in the 8th. New relievers Shelby Miller and Bennett Sousa shut down the Bandicoots, which gave the Explorers the time to recover. BET 3-5-0 LP Detmers (4-3) BS (5) COL 6-7-1 WP Miller (4-1) S Sousa (3)
Summary:	Columbus wins the series 5 games to 1 and finishes up a nice two-week stretch. They hope to stay hot next week when they host Prairie. Bethesda returns home to host NL Central and another wild-card hopeful, Selkirk. But the Columbus crowd is still buzzing over the PERFECTION FROM NATHAN EOVALDI – and that quieted most (if not all) of the murmurs over the costs to obtain the hurler. More of that kind of outing? Fans hope so.

Sacramento Capitals @ Tempe Tempers
Preview:	Sacramento’s large lead over Tempe has shrunk to only three games over the last couple of weeks. Should make for a good series in Tempe this week.
Game #1:	Marsee started the game with a lead-off homer off Patrick for Sacramento. Tempe tied it in the 3rd with doubles from Crawford and Raleigh and then took a 2-1 lead on a Freeman sac fly. It could have been far worse, but Sale struck out Ozuna with the bases loaded. Busch doubled in the 4th, but Tempe brought in the lefty early to get Carpenter. In the bottom of the 4th, Albies singled, stole 2nd, and then scored on a Crawford RBI single. Marsee went deep again with no one on in the 6th to cut the lead to one run. Winn gave up a solo shot to Springer in the 7th. Capitals put two runners on in the 9th, but Munoz got out of it for his 36th save. Tempe 4-2
Game #2:	Kolek showcased his pinpoint control, giving up only two hits over 6.2 innings. Glasnow was all over the place, but effectively wild to start. Tempe got a run in the 3rd on a Freeman triple but then left multiple runners on. Glasnow walked the bases loaded in the 4th, but then got a couple outs to keep it a one-run game. His luck finally ran out in the 5th, when Tempe loaded the bases again and this time Abreu doubled everyone home. King pitched a perfect 2.1 innings to finish the game. Tempe 5-0
Game #3:	The wind must have been blowing out in this one. Busch crushed a two-run homer in the 1st off Degrom. Tempe loaded the bases in the 1st but got nada. Raleigh hit a two-run homer that tied it in the 2nd. Durbin hit a solo in the 3rd that gave Sacramento a brief lead until Abreu hit a two run homer in the bottom half. Degrom turned it over to the pen with a one-run lead in the 6th, and they blew it. Rooker hit a solo shot off Santana that tied it in the 6th. Rooker then tripled in the 9th and scored the go-ahead run on an error. Andujar then launched a two-run homer to put it away. Diaz pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th for the win. Tempe completely outhit Sacramento with 11 hits, but they stranded 10 runners. Sacramento 7-4
Game #4:	Imanaga was shelled and gave up six runs and four homers. Peralta cruised through five innings for an easy W. Springer, Jackson, and Raleigh (twice) all went deep. Tempe 6-1
Game #5:	Lindor tripled in the 1st and scored on a Rooker groundout. Tempe tied it when Kwan walked, stole 2nd, and scored on an RBI double from Ramirez. Lindor got another extra base hit off Patrick, and this time it left the park to give the Capitals a 3-1 lead. Berrios couldn’t hold the lead. He gave up a two-run homer to Abreu, and then another two-run homer to Polanco in the 3rd. Tempe added two more runs in the 6th as Pasqantino went deep. Tempe 7-3
Game #6:	Sale and Kolek both made their second starts of the series, and both were excellent. Kolek went 5.1 innings and only gave up an RBI single to Goodman in the 1st. Sale racked up 9 SO in 7.1 innings, and his only mistake was a solo home run to Abrue. Sacramento threatened in the 8th when Fermin walked and Profar singled off Suarez with no outs. Mattson came on and gave up a single to Lindor, but Fermin was gunned at home by Springer, and then Raleigh threw out Lindor trying for second. Santana replaced Mattson and struck out Rooker to keep the game tied 1-1. Diaz came on in the bottom of the 8th and recorded five outs to push it to the 10th. Munoz locked down the 9th and 10th for Tempe. In the bottom of the 10th, Abrue doubled off Raley. Kwan moved him to third, and Crawford squirted one through the drawn-in infield to win it. Tempe 2-1 10th
Summary:	Tempe used excellent pitching and the long ball to pull off a surprising 5-1 series win.

Game #4:	TIJ jumped on Webb early and made it hold up. TIJ wins 5-2.
Game #5:	Boyd and Perez both pitched well. An unearned run doomed Boyd as TIJ prevails 3-2.
Game #6:	CCC jumped out early. TIJ made a late comeback, but Miller came on in the 8th to shut it down. CCC holds on to win 4-3.
Summary:	CCC was looking like we had a chance to sweep. TIJ rebounded and only fell one run short of the split, CCC takes the series 4-2.

Summary:	Titusville takes four of six from Southwest Detroit. There was zero shortage of offense in this highly contested matchup.

Corktown Cycle @ Hollywood Werewolves
