Preview: The upcoming series between the Chicago Mobsters and the Cincinnati Skyliners is shaping up to be an enthralling matchup. With the Mobsters holding a strong 13-8 record, they head into this series with confidence and momentum on their side. Their formidable offense and strategic gameplay have made them one of the dominant teams this season.

On the other hand, the Skyliners, currently at 7-12, are undeniably the underdogs in this clash. Despite their less impressive record, they have shown flashes of brilliance and resilience throughout the season, suggesting that they could upset the odds if the Mobsters aren’t careful.

Series Odds:
Chicago Mobsters: -150 (Favorite)
Cincinnati Skyliners: +130 (Underdog)

It’s bound to be a series loaded with tension and excitement as both teams vie for victory. Fans of the game can look forward to some high-quality action on the field.

Game #1: The game commenced on even footing, with both the Skylines and Mobsters playing solid ball early in this season. Pitcher Julio Urias flexed control from the mound, slicing through the Skylines’ lineup with precision, eventually stacking up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts. The Mobsters capitalized on their opportunities as Andrew McCutchen sent one deep for a homer, helping to establish their lead. Both teams would exchange defensive plays, but the Skyliners struggled to gain traction against the commanding presence of Urias. By contrast, A.J. Smith-Shawver was pressured early and couldn’t contain the Mobsters’ bats. Despite a late push and strategic pinch hitting by the Skyliners’ manager, they only managed to plate a single run. In relief, Prelander Berroa & Yennier Cano held firm, nurturing the Mobsters’ lead, which stood unassailable until the game’s conclusion.

Final Score: Chicago 5 – Cincinnati 1

Win: Julio Urias, Record 3-0 (3.12)
Loss: A.J. Smith-Shawver 0-1 (5.40)

Game #2: In a tightly contested match-up, the Skyliners held their ground to come out on top with a final score of Skyliners 4, Mobsters 2. Early innings saw both teams’ defenses shining with double plays to keep the game scoreless. However, the Skyliners broke through in the 2nd inning with a strategic hit from Jurickson Profar and some luck with a passed ball, establishing a lead they’d maintain throughout the game. Despite the Mobsters’ efforts, including a solo homer by Willy Adames and a thwarted rally attempt in the 4th, they couldn’t close the gap. Solid pitching from the Skyliners’ bullpen ensured their victory.

Final Score: Cincinnati 4 – Chicago 2

Win: Braxton Garrett 2-2 (3.42)
Loss: Tony Gonsolin 2-2 (4.91)
Save: Tim Mayza #3

Game #3: In a closely contested match, the Skyliners failed to capitalize on their opportunities, managing only one run compared to the Mobsters’ three. Despite putting runners in scoring positions, the Skylines couldn’t break through Alek Manoah‘s defenses, who struck out six across five innings. The game closed with Felix Bautista taking the mound and ensuring victory for the Mobsters with his sharp pitching, striking out two in the final inning.

Final Score: Chicago 3 – Cincinnati 1

The game remained tense until the fourth when Willy Adames delivered a two-run shot for the Mobsters to tie the game at 2-2. However, the Skylines pulled away with a series of home runs in the fifth and seventh innings, courtesy of Luke Maile and others, pushing the final score to Skylines 9, Mobsters 3.

Final Score: Cincinnati 9 – Chicago 3

Win: Aaron Civale 1-1 (2.70)
Loss: J.P. Sears 2-3 (4.00)

Game #5: In a tightly contested matchup, the Skylines edged out a 3-2 victory over the Mobsters. The game began with both teams displaying strong pitching and defense, keeping the score locked at 0-0 through the first inning. However, as the innings progressed, the Skylines managed to put crucial runs on the board while their pitchers maintained control. Despite a valiant effort by the Mobsters, who narrowed the gap in the fourth inning with a two-run homer from Willy Adames, they couldn’t catch up and ultimately fell short. BIg news here is that Nathan Eovaldi went down in the 3rd inning with a 20 day injury for the Skyliners.

Final Score: Cincinnati 3 – Chicago 2

Win: Justin Lawrence 1-0 (5.89)
Loss: Jesus Luzardo 2-3 (2.79)
Save: Tim Mayza #4

Game #6: In a tightly contested ballgame, the Skylines and Mobsters remained neck-and-neck, with the score teetering back and forth. Early in the game, Michael A. Taylor‘s solo home run put the Skylines ahead, but the Mobsters responded quickly as Andrew McCutchen crushed a two-run homer to take the lead. Both teams continued to battle, with the Skylines tying the game in the fourth inning. The decisive moment came in the bottom of the sixth when Julio Rodriguez‘s solo blast gave the Mobsters a one-run advantage they would not relinquish. ARB 5-10-0 WP Walker (4-2)

However in the 6th, after the 4th rain delay of the series Suarez began to lose his control. Southwest Detroit 2

W: B. Francis 1-0
L: R. Suarez 1-1
S: H. Milner 4

The series is tied going to the final game.

W: D. Coulombe 1-1
L: H. Harvey 2-1
S: H. Milner 5

Game #6: The final game gave an 11 K performance by Zach Eflin and a 2 home run day by Torres, but it wasn’t enough. Southwest Detroit was down the whole game until an explosion of 5 runs in the 7th. A lot of damage was done by this squad late in games and the Gainesville bullpen really struggled. It all got started on a JD Davis pinch hit 2 run home run and the fire was started. Southwest Detroit takes the series with a big time road win.

W: E. De Los Santos 1-0
L: Z. Eflin 4-1
S: R. Helsley 7

Game #6: The Falcons take a big 7-0 lead in the 2nd. It looks like the series would be tied headed to game 7, but Corktown was lead back by some of their bench bats to mount an incredible comeback. 6 run 8th gives the Cycle the spark they needed this early season.

Corktown 12-10
W. Anthony DeSclafani 2-2

Mesa  Solar Sox @ Virginia  Sluggers

Preview: Two teams holding up the bottom of the AL Central Division. Virginia fighting injuries again this season as they have not escaped a series without significant injuries. Fingers crossed.
Game #1: MSS 5-0 W- P.Lopez (2-2) L-N.Lodolo (1-2)

Lopez goes 9 innings allowing 3 hits with 9 K’s to highlight the MSS victory. C.Santana hit his 3rd HR and G.Henderson his 5th. It was a close game for 6 innings with MSS leading 2-0,…then the roof collapsed.

Game #2: VIR 6-5 W- L.Castillo (2-3) L- B.Raley (1-1) SV- R.Borucki (5)

A heartbreaker for MSS and starter C.Javier. Leading 3-1 after 7 innings Javier left it to the pen. Oopps! S.Murphy bloops a 1-out single in the 8th for VIR’s 2nd hit of the game. Reynolds doubles, Jimenez IBB (bases loaded), Merrifield a SF, Rizzo a 2-run double, Palacios an RBI double, Springer a RBI single and it’s 6-3 VIR. MSS made it close with E.Suarez’ 2-run shot in the 9th but Borucki came in to shut the door.

Game #3: VIR 5-2 W- D.Dunning (2-1) L- L.Allen (2-3) SV- R.Borucki (6)

Dunning and the bullpen combined on a 1-hitter, that being Tovar’s 2-run double. Dever’s 2-run blast and Jimenez’ solo shot led VIR in a 12 hit attack.

Game #4: VIR 3-0 W- J.Ryan (1-2) L- A.Heany (1-3) SV- R.Borucki (7)

Ryan stymied MSS on 6 hits over 7 innings while striking out 10 batters. All of VIR’s runs came on a 6th inning homer from B.Anderson. AND, Vir’s injury jinx hit again as Biggio got beaned and will miss 12 days.

Game #5: VIR 9-6 W- Y.Chirinos (2-2) L- K.Waldichuk (1-4) SV I.Hamilton (1)

A 6-run 4th pretty much put the game away for VIR. In the 4th, 2-runs scored on a Merrifield hit and error, a Devers RBI single, a Murphy 2-run homer and a Jimenez solo shot. With an 8-2 lead it was just a matter of holding MSS from scoring too many runs. Suarez’ 2-run single and Suwinski’s 2-run blast helped MSS but they still fell short.

Game #6: MSS 9-0 W- P.Lopez (3-2) N.Lodolo (1-3)

MSS got back on the winning track in a big way. Lopez held VIR to 3 hits and K’d 9 while the batters banged out 14 hits. G.Henderson was 3-3 with a triple and 2 RBI and Tovar was 4-5 with a double and 2 RBI and T.Ward chipped in a solo homer.

Game #7: MSS 3-2 W- C.Javier (1-4) L- G.Soto (0-1) SV-R.Pressly (2)

Henderson and Suwinski got the early RBI’s for MSS and VIR got their 2 runs on Palacios’ 2-run homer. But the winning run came on a WP from Soto in the 8th. AND to top it off, Rizzo, who just got off the VIR injury list ,…went back on for 14 days. This is getting ridiculous!

Summary: VIR takes the series 4-3 in spite of the constant injuries.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Valdosta  Snappers

Summary: Bethesda sweeps a wild series. Snappers pitchers K’d 82 in the 6 games, which is pretty awesome. Problem is we allowed 19 HR’s. Taj Bradley‘s line for the series sums it up: 13 1/3 IP, 24 K’s, and 14 (!!!!) HR’s allowed.
