GAME #5 – Lance Lynn #12-10 (2.47) vs. Marco Gonzales 14-9 (2.91)
This was a classic pitchers duel. Solak and Pham traded homers in the 1st but that was all the scoring until the 12th inning. Lynn and Gonzales both went 7 before the bullpens took over and threw goose eggs until the 12th. In the 12th Solak and Reyes homered to give the Dirt Bags a 4-1 lead but Jersey wasn’t ready to quit yet. In the bottom of the inning, Pham doubled in Calhoun. Pham scored when Reyes dropped a routine flyball by Ramirez to make it 4-3. The next batter Hosmer flew out to left. With Stephenson at bat Ramirez tried to steal second and was thrown out by Perez ending the game and series. What a dramatic finish! LBD 4 – JNE 3 (10 Innings) |
SERIES SUMMARY – Though Long Beach winsthe series 4-1, the last 4 games were all close games and could have gone either way. Congrats to Wally and his team for a strong season and series. |
