Long Beach  Dirt Bags @ Rosemere  Renegades

Series Summary: RRG steals 3 from the division leaders.

Selkirk  Steelers @ Columbus  Explorers

Series Preview: NL Central bookends – Selkirk (first) and Columbus (last) meet for a 6-pack. Steelers look to pad their big division lead.
Game #1:  A surprise – Carlos Matias Martinez tosses a 2 hitter for 8.2 innings and Columbus scores 3 runs, Charlie Blackmon (7) solo homer and Brock Holt 2 run double.
SEL 0-2-1 LP Max Fried (11-6)
COL 3-7-0 WP Martinez (5-8)
Game #2: In another low scoring game, the Steelers prevail 3-1 on a Marcus Semien 2 run homer (34) and an rbi double from Austin Hedges.
SEL 3-5-0 WP Ian Anderson (8-6) S Andrew Chafin (6)
COL 1-4-1 LP Jordan Lyles (6-16)
Game #3: Finally Selkirk exercises some muscle to the tune of 14 hits and 5 homers including a grand slam by Kyle Seager. Seager strokes 2 homers (28, 29) and 5 rbis. Jordy Mercer (4), Adolis Garcia (12), and Nick Ahmed (9) are the other long ball guys. And Cal Quantrill goes 6 innings, 1 hit and Chris Croswell follows for the final 3 and no-hits the Explorers!
SEL 12-14-1 WP Quantrill (11-7) S Criswell (4)
COL 0- 1-2 LP J.A. Happ (6-14)
Game #4: Hang on – another upset – as Steven Brault, Steve Cishek and Tony Watson hold Selkirk to 3 hits and 1 run – a Mookie Betts solo homer (15) in the 6th. Dylan Cease meanwhile is holding off the Explorers as well, but he gives up a 2 run double to Charlie Blackmon in the bottom of the 6th – and that 6th inning was all the scoring!
SEL 1-3-0 LP Cease (14-8)
COL 2-3-0 WP Brault (6-13) S Watson (7)
Game #5: Can the Explorers keep it up? Heck no! 4 runs in the 2nd – Nick Ahmed (10) and Mookie Betts (16) each hit 2 run homers! That was enough as the teams swap singles runs in the 8th, but Selkirk cruises to the 5-1 win.
SEL 5-10-1 WP Kyle Gibson (17-3)
COL 1- 4-1 LP Peterson (2-4)
Game #6: Carlos Matias Martinez tries to outduel Max Fried again – and fares well, but not good enough. Pete Alonso hits a 2 run double in the 1st and Mookie Betts slugs another homer (17) in the 3rd. But those 3 runs were all they could get off Martinez. However, Fried is sharp going 6, 6 hits, 1 run – a Trevor Story homer (15) in the 6th. That was all the scoring as both bullpens blank the opposition the rest of the way.
SEL 3-5-0 WP Fried (12-6) S Andrew Chafin (7)
COL 1-9-0 LP Martinez (5-9)
Series Summary: So no big surprise, Selkirk wins the series, biggest surprise maybe was Columbus winning 2 of the games.

Valdosta  Snappers @ Corktown  Cycle

Corktown 6-5
W. Jordan Romano 5-2
L. Tyler Alexander 3-6
S. Art Warren (1)

Corktown 8-3
W. Tyler Rogers 4-2
L. Jon Lester 7-12

Game #3: Miguel Sano gets the only hit off Robbie Ray today, but it was good for a 2 run blast. It wasn’t going to be enough for the Snappers though.

Corktown 7-4
W. Robbie Ray 13-6
L. Miguel Yajure 0-4

Game #4: Valdosta gets one back with a big outing from Martin Perez, and a late innings surge from their offense.

Valdosta 1-0
W. Jon Lester 8-12
L. Jorge Lopez 7-8

Virginia  Sluggers @ Hollywood  Werewolves

Series Summary: Hollywood takes 4 of 6.

Jersey  Nor’easters @ Harsens Island  Walleye

Series Summary: Harsens kept it close in a couple of games but end up getting swept by Jersey.

Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas @ Mesa  Solar Sox

Game #6: Ryan McMahon copies Lowe with his own 6 RBI, 2 homer and a double game. SW wins 14-6.
Series Summary: Too much hitting from the Dogs. Not enough pitching from the Solar Sox. Nothing seems to change!

Baltimore  Comets @ Bethesda  Bandicoots

Series Preview: The Bethesda Bandicoots are pretty much only looking to F– Up other teams occasionally as they make moves for the post-season as they take on the Baltimore Comets.
Series Summary: In kind of the same way a racoon or a porcupine slow up an 18-wheeler, the Bandicoots manage to gum up the Comets’ tires a bit in taking one game in the series.

Detroit  Crime @ Southbend  Lynx

That was all the scoring.

SBL T.Houck, in a rare complete game for the Lynx, tosses a 4 hit shutout. He did walk 6 but also fanned 12 for his 6th win on the season.

SBL WP-T.Houck / DET LP-S.Watkins

Southbend 3, Detroit 0

SBL gets another run in the B7 when Gallagher 1bs, moves to 2nd on McKinney’s error, and then scores on a Soto rbi-2b.

Once again, as in the 1st game, SBL gets a strong start from N.Pivetta as he bests the previous start by tossing a 1 hit shutout, while fanning 9 and walking 4. The lone DET hit was a 4th inning 1b by Voit.

SBL WP-N.Pivetta / DET LP-M.Bumgarner

Southbend 5, Detroit 0

Game #3: DET M.Minor vs SBL J.Yamamoto

SBL again open the scoring in the B1 when Bichette bbs, K.Tucker with a H&R rbi-2b, and after a Minor WP, Muncy w/rbi 1b for a 2-0 SBL lead.

DET gets a run right back in the T2 when Schwarber 1bs, and McKinney comes through with a 2 out rbi-2b for DET first run of the series.

DET then ties the game in the T4 when Machado 1bs, and then McKinney comes through with his 2nd 2 out rbi-2b.

But in the SBL B5 the game gets away from DET as the Lynx explode for 8 runs highlighted by a Bichette 2-run HR, a Meadows 3-run HR, and a Soto 2-run HR.

SBL add 3 more in the B6 and 1 in the B7 to close out the Lynx scoring.

DET gets their last run on a Voit DP grounder in the T8.

SBL WP-J.Yamamoto / DET LP-M.Minor

Southbend 14, Detroit 3

Game #4: DET R.Weathers vs SBL J.Oviedo

Once again SBL scores in the B1 when Soto 1bs and Bichette hits a 2-run HR.
SBL adds another run in the B4 when Canha 2bs and scores on Alford’s rbi-1b.

DET gets on the board in the T6 with a C.Hernandez solo-HR.

But that would be all for DET as the SBL bullpen of Jackson, Cimber, and Steckenrider close out the game with 2.2 scoreless innings.

SBL WP-J.Oviedo Sv-D.Steckenrider / DET LP-R.Weathers

Southbend 3, Detroit 1

Game #5: DET A.Nola vs SBL F.Peralta

DET breaks the pattern and opens the scoring in the T1 with a Machado solo-HR. DET adds to their lead in the T4 with a B.Harper solo-HR.

In the SBL B5 Canha 2bs, Escobar bbs, and Wynns hits a 3-run HR to give the Lynx a 3-2 lead!

SBL add a run in the B6 on an Escobar solo-HR and then another in the B7 on a Bichette solo-HR.

SBL Peralta goes 6IP giving up the 2 HRs but nothing else as he fans 7 and walks 3. The SBL bullpen tosses 3 scoreless innings to close out the game.

SBL WP-F.Peralta Sv-D.Steckenrider / DET LP-A.Nola

Southbend 5, Detroit 2

Game #6: DET C.Carrasco vs SBL M.Foltynewicz

DET jumps on SBL M.Foltynewicz in the T1 as Machado 1bs, C.Hernandez hits a 2-run HR, and Harper follows with a solo-HR. Three Crime hitters, 3 runs! M.Foltynewicz then walks Belt but somehow manages to get out of the inning without any further scoring.

In the SBL B1 Soto hits a solo-HR to get a run back.

DET Carrasco and SBL M.Foltynewicz trade scoreless innings through the 4th.

In the SBL B5 Tucker 1bs, steals 2nd, Muncy bbs, and then Altuve hits a 3-run HR to give the Lynx a 4-3 lead.

SBL extends the lead in the B7 when Altuve 1bs, Meadows 1bs, but Canha hits into a DP, Escobar is IW, Wynns with a rbi-1b, Soto w/rbi-2b, and Bichette with another rbi-1b to close out the scoring.

On the mound SBL M.Foltynewicz gets thru 5 innings and then turns it over to the bullpen. Duffey, Jackson and Familia close out the game.

SBL Familia does give up a Crawford solo-HR in the T8.

SBL WP- M.Foltynewicz / DET LP-C.Carrasco

Southbend 7, Detroit 4

Series Summary: Southbend gets the unlikely sweep over Detroit by taking advantage of the Detroit starting pitching and some offensive woes by the Detroit hitters.

Motor City  Muscle @ Yonge Street  Stalkers

Series Preview: Yonge Street welcomes Motor City. The Muscle arrive eager to halt their current 4 game slide. Play Ball!
Game #1: Nestor Cortes for the good guys, B. Wilson for the Muscle. The Starters cruised thru 7 with the score knotted at 2. B. Wilson ran into some heat in the 8th, Gregory Soto relieved him and threw the match. Kris Bryant cleared the bases with a double. Emmanuel Clase locked it down in the 9th. Niko Goodrum was a hero for a split second, as his solo shot tied the game at 2 in the 7th. YSS 5 – MCM 2
Game #1: A Marwin Gonzalez solo shot in the 2nd opened the scoring in this one. The home team answered by scoring the next (and final) 11 runs. Michael Pineda settled down and allowed just the 1 run in his 7 IP. The Stalkers went with the “one HR and 13 single strategy”, overall 6 guys knocked in runs. YSS 11 – MCM 1
Game #2: Adrian Houser was brilliant. He allowed 3 singles, walked no one and his run was unearned. Kris Bryant hit a pair of homers and plated 4 to pace the Stalkers in this one. No real highlights for MCM. YSS 8 – MCM 1
Game #4: Gregory Soto and Brady Singer in a barn burner. Through 7, the teams were deadlocked at 1. Soto finally gave in. An itchy Mike Zunino (1st game back from the D.L) hit a solo shot in the 8th, and Emmanuel “Nails” Clase locked it down. YSS 2 – MCM 1
Game #5: Gerrit Cole vs W. Crowe. Truth be told, W. Crowe was done wrong. The Muscle defense committed just 1 miscue, but it allowed a pair of unearned runs to score. Crowes’ final line was 8.2 IP, 6H/2BB/12K/1ER. Gerrit Cole was solid. He also allowed 3 runs, but he gave em’ up the old fashioned way. (Usually solo HR’s) This game continued along for quite a while, with both bullpens just mowing guys down. B. Garrett drew the short straw for the Muscle. Joc Pederson walked it off with a base knock in the 13th. YSS 4 – MCM 3
Game #6: Travis d’Arnaud smacked a 3 run HR in the 4th, and the Stalkers added another run in the 5th to take a 4-0 lead after 5. The 6th inning saw a Motor City rally. T. Wade knocked in a run with a pinch hit single, Candelario plated another with a sac. fly and Nootbaar connected on his 4th HR of the year to tie it at 4. Alas, Muscle fans…Thairo Estrada hit a 3 run HR in the 8th, the Stalkers tacked on one more run. YSS 8 – MCM 4
Series Summary: Motor City visited Yonge Street and were “Muscled” out the door. MCM will take their 10 game slide to CIN. YSS will pack up and head to MSS.
