Series Summary: It wasnt much of a series. Chicago hit 21 HOMERUNS in the series and took it 5 games to 2.

Virginia  Sluggers @ Mesa  Solar Sox

Series Preview: Inter division squabble between Virginia and Mesa. Should be an even match up.
Game #1: Mesa rides a strong start from Andrew Heaney (6 ip, 1 run, 6 K) and a 4-4 day from rookie Akil Badoo to a 7-3 win. Badoo drove in three with a single, a double, and a triple.
Game #2: After being behind all game, Virginia rallies late to take this one 3-2. Andrew Velasquez hits a game tying 2 run single in the 7th and Anthony Rizzo singles home the game winner in the 9th.
Game #3: Rizzo doubles, homers, and drives in 2. Tristan McKenzie wins his 6th. Virginia wins 5-2.
Game #4: Virginia blasts Pablo Lopez for 8 runs in the 1st two innings, but Mesa stays close, chips away at the lead and wins in in the bottom of the 9th on a two out walk off homer from Carlos Santana. Mesa 9-8.
Game #5: Mesa goes up 4-0 but Virginia gets a three-run bomb from Rafael Devers to get it close. Mesa breaks it open with an 8 run 8th to take this one 12-4.
Game #6: Luis Castillo holds Mesa at bay for a 6-2 win.
Game #7: Mesa gets a grand slam from Eddie Rosario and goes up 5-0. The lead does not hold, however. Whit Merrifield drives in 5, Virginia hits 6 doubles and comes back to win 8-7 in 12 innings. Jean Segura drives in Whit for the game winner off Mesa closer Ryan Pressley.
Series Summary: The Sluggers win the series 4-3 to take some of the stuffing out of the Solar Sox current hot streak.

Coconut Creek  Crushers @ Fremont  Cannons

Series Preview: Coconut Creek comes to Fremont for a 6-game series.
Game #1: DD vs DD. The Crushers get a based-loaded walk off of Fremont starter Danny Duffy for a first-inning lead. Fremont strikes back in the bottom of the inning with a two-run Shohei Ohtani homer. Fremont scores four more in the 3rd, aided by Mike Yastrzemski’s two-run home run. Fremont scores singles in the fourth and fifth innings, but Crushers pick up two in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to cut it to an 8-6 Fremont lead.

The Cannons gat an insurance run in the 7th with a Javier Baez solo homer. Giovanny Gallegos comes on for the two-inning save and Fremont takes Game One 9-6. Javier Baez goes 3-3 with a homer, double, and two SB.

Game #2: Fremont’s Zac Gallen and Coconut Creek’s Aaron Civale both pitch well in this one. Yonny Hernandez’s sac fly in the fifth gives CCC a 1-0 lead. Fremont finally gets to Civale in the eighth with Shoehei Ohtani’s two-run double, then Yulieski Gurriel is able to bring Ohtani around for the 3-1 lead.

Fremont brings in Jake Cousins to close out the game. Cousins allows two hits and a walk, but a timely double play and shoestring catch from Mike Yastrzemski keeps the Crushers off the board. Fremont wins 3-1. Zac Gallen strikes out 12 in the win.

Game #3: Travis Blankenhorn gets the Crushers on the board in the second with a solo HR off of Shohei Ohtani. Fremont ties it up in the bottom of the frame with a Teoscar Hernandez homer off of Joes Musgrove. Max Kepler homers in the seventh giving the Cannons a 2-1 lead.

Garrett Whitlock comes on in the eighth but is unable to close out the Crushers, allowing Brandon Nimmo’s sac fly to tie it at 2-2, then putting runners on 1st and 3rd in the ninth with no outs. Jake Cousins comes and gets a double play, but the go ahead run scores. Fremont gets runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs in the ninth, but a flyout and double play end it at 3-2 CCC. Musgrove strikes out 10 in the no decision.

Game #4: Coconut Creek strikes first yet again, with a Jared Walsh solo HR in the first off of Sandy Alcantara. Fremont strings a few hits together in the bottom of the inning off of Blake Snell, and the Cannons go on top 2-1. The Cannons bring home a run in the fourth with Yoan Moncada single, then a pair of walks in the fifth followed by a Javier Baez single gives Fremont the 4-1 lead.

Alcantara holds down the Crushers until the seventh, when a walk followed by a Sam Hilliard homer makes it 4-3 Fremont. After that, the Cannons bullpen is able to hold for the 4-3 final. Blake Snell strikes out twelve, but walks seven.

Game #5: Not only does Coconut Creek score first for the 5th straight game in the series, they bat around in the 1st and chase Fremont starter Tarik Skubal after only recording three outs. Chris Flexen pitches well and Fremont is never a threat to get back into this one. CCC wins 10-2.

Wil Myers and Jared Walsh each go 3-5. Worse than the actual loss, Flexen plunks and injures two Fremont outfielders, knocking Mike Yastrzemski out for 7 days and Austin Hays out for 6 days.

Game #6: DD vs DD round 2. Fremont finally scores first in a game, with Max Kepler’s HR helping to go on top 3-0 in the second. The Cannons continue to add on, scoring in each of the next four innings to go up 9-0. A two-run burst in the ninth is all for CCC, as Fremont takes the finale 4-2. Jared Walsh homers for the 3rd straight game. Alec Bohm commits 2 errors. Carlos Correa goes 3-5 with a double and HR in the win.

Columbus  Explorers @ Corktown  Cycle

Series Preview: Columbus is usually an NL powerhouse and Corktown is usually a bottom feeder. Is 2023 the year things change?
Game #1: Bottom of the lineup Jarod Dyson has a big game going 2/3 with a SB and the Explorers cruise.

Game #2: Corktown evens the series at 1 game a piece.

Game #3: Cycle ace Robbie Ray in cruise control giving up 1 in 7 strong.

Game #4: Jose Berrios faces 28 total Explorers. Hits 1 batter and walks another. Surrenders 0 hits! Berrios and the Cycle celebrate on the pitchers mound as he throws a no hitter! Corktown, had a horrible start to the season, but this game signals where this team may be headed.

Series Summary: A series the Corktown fans have been craving for many years winning 6 straight (6-1). The team is 3 games over .500 and they don’t want to get too far ahead of themselves but may not just be looking at a playoff spot, but actually eying up an NL East race.

Series Summary: The hometown Bottle Rockets get the rare series win, taking 5 of 7.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Tempe  Tempers

Series Preview: The Bandicoots come to Tempe hoping to hold on to the top spot in the NL East. Tempe looks to extend their Wild Card lead and claw a few games closer to Selkirk.
Game #1: Martinez two run hr in the 1st and a bases clearing double in the 2nd gave Tempe a quick 6-0 lead.

Game #2: Soto RBI double in the 1st put Bethesda up early. Martinez RBI single tied it and Smith RBI single put Tempe up 2-1. Seager three run jack in the 4th gave the Coots a 4-2 lead. Plawecki rbi single in the 6th put Tempe within a run. Littell walked in the tying run in the 7th. Kittredge pitched a scoreless 8th, 9th and 10th and a Freeman two out rbi single in the 10th won it for Tempe.

Game #3: Tempe jumped out to 3-0 lead capped by Peralta two rbi double. Gomber was gone after only 2.1 inn. Wainwright was on his game and only surrendered one hit in the 6th.

Game #4: Vaughn solo shot in the second was matched by Peralta rbi single in the bottom of the inning. Pujols rbi sac fly in the 4th broke the 1-1 tie. Melancon went 3.2 scoreless innings before letting Kittredge, Maples and Floro record the final four outs.

Game #5: Gant was strong until the bottom of the 7th when Pujols took him deep for a solo shot and then gave up singles to Perez and Brantley.

Game #6: Rendon rbi single in the 4th, but Detmer recovered to get Pujols and Freeman with the bases loaded. Martinez two run homerun in the 5th gave Wainwright breathing room. Albies three run shot in the 7th put the game completely out of reach.
Tempe 9-1
Series Summary: Surprising series with Tempe getting their first series sweep of the year as Bethesda left the bats at home. Wainwright recorded two victories for Tempe. Martinez had a nice series at DH.

Detroit  Crime @ Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary: Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas takes the series over the Detroit Crime.

Sacramento  Capitals @ Harsens Island  Walleye

Series Preview: Sacramento visits Harsens Island.
Series Summary: The Capitals take it 5 games to 2.

Series Preview: Dallas makes an intra-divisional trip to Glenn Sample Field for a seven game visit at Cincinnati.
Series Summary: Cincinnati takes five of seven from Dallas. The Skyliners outscored the Cougars, 31-24.

Series Summary: Snappers win 5 of 6. All 5 wins were 1-run victories, with 3 of those wins of the walk off variety.

Series Preview: AL Central Leaddeer Yonge Street travels into Southbend for a 6 ga
me series.
Game #1: YSS A.Houser vs SBL J.Yamamoto

SBL got an early lead on a rbi-1b in the B1 from Altuve. SBL Yamamoto looked good through 5 innings, until the wheels fell off in the T6.

Bryant hits a 2-run HR followed by a Ortega solo-HR and thats all she wrote. YSS added 4 more in the T7 to put the game away helped by a couple of SBL errors.

YSS A.Houser goes 6IP giving up only 1 hit and 1 run.

Game #2: YSS M.Pineda vs SBL F.Peralta

YSS gets a run in the T1 off SBL Escobar’s error (for some reason it was credited as an earned run against Peralta) and then blows the game open in the T5 courtesy of a Ortega Grand Slam.

Ortega adds another rbi in the game and end up with a 2-5 day w/5 rbi, a 3b and a HR.
YSS M.Pineda goes 6IP giving up 1 run on 4 hits while fanning 4.

YSS gets 8 run off 7 hits but benefited from 7 walks from the SBL pitchers,

Yonge Street 8, Southbend 2

Game #3: YSS B.Singer vs SBL N.Nelson

It looked like more of the same as YSS opened up a 5-0 lead after the T2 with the big hit being a Hicks 2-run HR. But SBL Canha 2-run HR in the B2 and Bichette’s 2-run 2b and Altuve’s rbi-1b in the B3 knots the game at 5-5.

There’s no more scoring until the SBL B6 when C.Gallaagher’s 2-run 2b and K.Tucker’s 3-run HR highlight a 6 run inning as the Lynx bats finally show up.

YSS and SBL trade a run in the later innings for the 12-6 final.

Game #4: YSS T.Walker vs SBL C.Hernandez

SBL evens the series at 2-2 behind the strong performance of C.Hernandez and the Lynx bullpen.

SBL got all the runs they would need in the B@ ona Escobar rbi-1b and a Canha 3-run HR. SBL Muncy adds a 2-run HR in the B7.

YSS Kim hits a solo-HR in the T3 and in the YSS T9 they load the bases but after a Duffy rbi-1b, SBL D.Steckenrider gets Ortega F8 and Frazier on a 5U groundout to end the game.

Game #5: YSS G.Cole vs SBL N.Pivetta

This game is all about YSS G,Cole as he tosses the 5 hit shutout while walking 0 and fanning 13 SBL hitters.

YSS got a solo-HR from Ortega in the T4 and a 2-run 3b from Frazier in the T5 as the big hits; M.Duffy goes 3-4 w/rbi

Game #6: YSS D.German vs SBL J.Yamamoto

SBL Fraley hits a solo-HR in the B3 to open the scoring. SBL then gets a Canha rbi-2b, a run on a YSS Kim error, and a Bichette rbi-1b in the B4 to push the score to 4-0 SBL.

SBL Yamamoto is once again cruising along through 4 innings until YSS opens up on him in the T5 when Frazier has a rbi-1b and Bryant adds a 2-run 2b. But the SBL bullpen comes on to shut the door and close out the game with 4.1 innings of scoreless pitching.

SBL puts the game away in the B7 with an Altuve rbi-2b and a Canha 3-run HR.

Series Summary: Southbend and Yonge Street play to a 3-3 split. Strange series as there weren’t any close games.
