Fremont Cannons @ Motor City Muscle

Series Preview: Fremont at Motor City for a three-game holiday weekend series
Game #1: MCM 7 – FRE 0

WP: de Grom (CG)
LP: Gallen
HR: MCM–Trout (GS), Castellanos, Candelario

Except for a first-inning Nicholas Castellanos two-run shot, Zac Gallen was matching Jacob de Grom until the sixth, when he laded the bases and gave way to Shane Greene. Greene promptly gave up Mike Trout‘s grand slam. Gallen struck out 12 in 6.2 innings, while de Grom whiffed nine with only three hits in going the distance.

Game #2: FRE 8 – MCM 5

WP: Skubal
LP: Tanaka
SV: G. Gallegos
HR: FRE–Correa, Kepler, Yastrzemski; MCM–Castellanos

FRE scored early and often, putting up four in the first and never looked back. Homers with lots of traffic on the bases was the preferred method of destruction for Fremont.

Game #3: FRE 8 – MCM 2

WP: S. Alcantara

Game #1: VIR 7-4 W-K.Finnegan (3-0) L-C.Kershaw (2-5) SV-T.Webb (12)

A first inning SF and a third inning blast to RF by A.Gordon put Hollywood up 2-0. But the Sluggers get a break in the 4th when lefty faces lefty…”R. DEVERS facing C. KERSHAW, B 4th, 2 Outs, 1st and 2nd, Behind 0-2 …It’s a shot down the line to right … near the foul pole … and it’s … long gone!…a three-run homer for DEVERS … Rafael trots around the bases … he loves a trip downtown…he claps his hands … he’s greeted at home plate … congratulations all around…WEREWOLVES 2, SLUGGERS 3.” But it doesn’t stay that way long. Not to be outdone…”C. VAZQUEZ facing L. CASTILLO, T 6th, 1 Out, Runner on 1st, Behind 2-3 … CASTILLO kicks and delivers … he goes the opposite way
high fly deep to right … FRAZIER got a good jump … he’s at the warning track…say good-bye to this one…it’s gone! … home run for VAZQUEZ … and two runs score…WEREWOLVES 4, SLUGGERS 3.” But the scrappy team from Virginia doesn’t give up. In the 8th, J.Segura pokes a single to RF, A.Rizzo follows with a double to right. Then J.Castro lines another double to right scoring both runners giving Virginia a 5-4 lead. After a pitching change, Biggio walks and C.Frazier follows suit to load the bases. E.Jimenez lifts a SF and Springer bounces one over the drawn in infield to put Virginia up 7-4. T.Webb comes in for the 1-2-3 9th and his 12th save as Virginia surprises Hollywood in game 1.

Game #2: VIR 7-0 W-C.Mazza (3-2) L-C.Morton (4-5)

Mazza pitched like an ace,…8 innings, 4 hits. No runs and 8 K’s. Hollywood could not seem to figure him out. Meanwhile, Virginia popped off 13 hits, 10 coming in the first 4 innings. W.Merrifield was 4-5 with a homer and 2 RBI. J.Bradley. E.Jimenez and R.Devers (3-3) all went deep with Jimenez driving in 3 on his long ball.

Game #3: VIR 10-2 W-A.Plutko (7-2) L-B.Wilson (0-2)

It was over after 4 innings. In the 1st Springer lashed a 2-run double and J.Bradley brought him in with a single to RF. VIR 3-0. Then, in the 4th, Biggio with a bases loaded SF, Murphy scores on a WP, Springer walks in a run, VIR 6-0. After a pitching change, Devers clears the bases with a triple and J.Bradley brings him in with a single, 10-0. Hollywood would get 2 in the 8th but by then it was pretty much over.

Series Summary: A surprising 3-0 sweep for the Gentlemen from Virginia. They now get to face the Division leader when they take on Dallas in the next series while Hollywood goes up against Detroit.
VIR – R.Devers 6-12 7 RBI 2 HR, 1 Triple and 2 doubles

Jersey Nor’easters @ Corktown Cycle

Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Detroit Crime

Series Summary: Tijuana takes series over Detroit.

Triple Creek Patriots @ Pittsburgh Lumber Company

Series Preview: Triple Creek Patriots (23-20) at Pittsburgh Lumber Company (17-26)
Game #1: Due to a depleted starting staff, Triple Creek starts Greg Holland against the Lumber Company. It seems like a mismatch, on paper, as the Lumber Company counters Alex Young. Holland has a good start, tossing 6 innings and only allows 1 run on 7 hits, but Young has an even better day, going 9 2/3 allowing a single, unearned, run on 5 hits. This one was a marathon, and it wouldn’t be until the 17th when the Patriots finally break through with the winning run off Felix Pena. Victor Caratini had 4 hits for Triple Creek, Ryan Braun had 4 for the Lumber Company. It was a long day for Upton and Alcantara for Triple Creek and Sisco for Pittsburgh, all had 0 for 7 performances.

TC 2-10-2
PIT 1-11-1 (17 innings)
WP – Gerber (1-1)
LP – Pena (2-1)

Game #2: For the 2nd straight game the Patriots are forced to use a reliever in a start, this time its Josh Staumont. Staumont pitches well, until Josh Bell‘s 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 6th puts the Lumber Company in front. Hiura counters with a 2 run double in the visitor 7th to put the Patriots back on top, but that lead was short lived, thanks to a Hunter Renfroe solo homerun (#4) that ties the game at 3 after 7. The game will remain knotted until the home 11th, when Joey Gallo smacks a solo homerun (#9) off Zuber to send the hometown fans home happy.

TC 3-10-2
PIT 4 -6-1 (11 innings)
WP – Kaminsky (1-0)
LP – Zuber (0-1)

Game #3: The Lumber Company smacks around Patriot starter Kevin Gausman for 6 runs on 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings to win the finale and the series. Aaron Judge‘s bases clearing double in the bottom of the 6th is the big blast for Pittsburgh. Judge had 2 hits and 4 RBIs, Wendle added 4 hits and 2 runs scored for the Lumber Company.

TC 2- 7-1
PIT 6-12-0
WP – Clevinger (2-2)
LP – Gausman (4-5)

Series Summary: Pittsburgh survives a parade of double digit relievers to take the series 2 games to 1.

Harsens Island Walleye @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Preview: The Walleye go into the series with almost .500 playing Bethesda having lost their last 8 games.
Game #1: The fish stayed cold as Jonathan Schoop had one hit in the game and it was a big one with the bases loaded leading the Bandicoots to a 8-1 win over the Walleye.
Kevin Pillar was 4/5 for Bethesda while Nolan Arenado was the one bright spot for the Walleye with a single and the only extra base hit for the visitors – a double.
Alex Cobb earned the win after allowing a run on three hits and a couple of walks in six innings.
W-Cobb (4-3)
L-Wright (1-5)
HR-HAM: Schoop (8)
Game #2: Kyle Seager bashed a two-run shot into the upper deck in right field with a man aboard in the bottom of the 7th to lift the Bandicoots to a 3-1 win over the Walleye.
The Walleye starter Castellani gave a tutorial on how to strand baserunners prior to giving up the home run as he routinely allowed the Bandicoots to clog up the base paths only to snuff out any rally. Castellani walked seven in 6-2/3 innings and looked almost invincible until Seager came through.
Tejay Antone allowed just one unearned run in the start for Bethesda but did not factor into the decision.
W-Heuer (3-0)
Sv-Mayers (7)
L-CAstellani (1-6)
HR-HAM: Seager (8)
Game #3: Another game, another grand slam for Jonathan Schoop. Ho hum. Bethesda wins 10-4 with a 17-hit attack.
Paul DeJong, Carlos Santana, and Victor Reyes each had three hits for Bethesda.
Ty France had two hits including a double in the first inning that drove in two runs.
W-Kelly (2-2)
L-Urena (1-8)
HR-HAM: Pillar (7), Schoop (9).
Series Summary: Bethesda is lucky to hit the Walleye on a cold streak and benefit from some timely hitting by Jonathan Schoop to complete the three-game sweep of Harsens Island.

Portland Lumber Jax @ Rosemere Renegades

Game #1: Nice pitching duel. 3 runs by the locals in B8 is the difference.
4-1 Rosemere
Game #2: NO HITTER —
Richard throws 9 hitless innings and Garcia pitches a hitless 10th inning.
Rosemere finds a way to loose it 2-1.
Probably the most furstating game I have ever played.
Game #3: Another pitching duel. 5-2 Portland in 10.
Series Summary: Felt like I should have won the series but the APBA Gods decided otherwise.

Dallas Cougars @ Mesa Solar Sox

Series Preview: Mesa welcomes 1st place Dallas to the valley for a 3 game set.
Game #1: Mesa gets homers from Tim Anderson, Eugenio Suarez, and Adam Duvall. Kyle Kendricks beats Dallas Keuchel 6-1.
Game #2: Jose Abreu hits a two run homer and AJ Pollack drives in 3 with a pinch hit, bases loaded double. Zach Plesac out duels Christian Javier 6-2.
Game #3: Dallas carries a 3-1 lead in to the bottom of the 8th when Rowdy Tellez crushes a thee run homer off Riley Smith and Mesa takes the rubber game 4-3.
Series Summary: Homers decided the series. Mesa picks up a game on Dallas. Costly, though, a Yan Gomes injures himself and is out for the rest of the season. They will not have enough catching for the rest of the year and will have to go get a scrap heap body to get them to the end.

Coconut Creek Crushers @ Southbend Lynx

Series Preview: Coconut Creek travels to Southbend for a 3 game series. Coconut Creek still has an outside chance to sneak into the playoffs, Southbend does not.
Game #1: Lots of offense as neither starting pitcher can get it done. Score is tied 5-5 after 4 innings. CCC surges ahead 7-5 in the T5 on a Bohm 2-run HR only to see SBL tie it in the B6 on a Bichette 2-run HR. However, the big hit of the game is a Grand Slam Homerun by Altuve in the B7 which is the eventual game winning hit.

SBL T.Kinley gets the win and CCC T.Rogers takes the loss.

SBL 11, CCC 7

Game #2: CCC plate 5 runs in the T1 with the big hit being a Walsh 3-run HR. SBL get back-to-back solo-HRS from Altuve and Canha in the B1 and then from there on CCC Morejon settles down. After the HRs Morejon settles in and only gives up 5 more hits as he tosses 8 scoreless innings to close out the game. Oh, and by the way he fans 16 Lynx along the way as he nails down the win. CCC Betts and Myers also have HRs in the game.

CCC Morejon with the win and SBL Yamamoto with the loss.

CCC 8, SBL 2

Game #3: Another well pitched game by a CCC starter as B.Snell goes 7IP giving up only 2 hits, 0 runs, while fanning 9. CCC goes to the pen with the score 5-0 and SBL finally get a Gallagher solo-HR in the B9 to spoil the shutout. CCC scores 2 in the T1 and 3 in the T2 for the early 5-0 lead. SBL errors by Escobar and Mejia help out the CCC offense. Betts is 3-5 with a run and rbi; Bohm is 2-5 with 3 rbi’s and a HR.

CCC Snell earns the win and SBL N.Pivetta gets the loss.

CCC 7, SBL 1

Series Summary: Coconut Creek wins the series 2-1 over Southbend. Afterb the 1st game run outburst from SBL, the CCC starters take over the series. CCC Bohm and Bets and SBL Altuve are the hitting stars in the series.
