Triple Creek Patriots @ Bethesda Bandicoots
Series Preview:	A couple of 4th place teams meet up to take a few swings at each other and then meet afterwards for a few beer.
Game #1:	A horrific game for pitchers as the teams combined for 31 hits on 11 pitchers with Triple Creek outlasting Bethesda 11-9. The Patriots victimized Corey Oswalt early and often scoring in each of the first five innings and compiling a 9-8 lead by the end of the 5th. The Patriots scored three times in the off Oz starting with a leadoff blast by Andrew Benintendi (5) and then Lonnie Chisenhall’s 1st of the year with Stephen Piscotty aboard. Sensing that it would take a crapload of runs to even stay in this game the Bandicoots responded by whipping Patriots’ starter Nick Tropeano for five runs in their first inning including a two-run single by Trevor Story and a 2-run ay-carumba blast into next week by Robinson Chirinos. The Patriots got one back in the 2nd and two back in the 3rd to take the lead briefley, but the Bandicoots tied it back up with a run in their half of the 3rd to make it 6-6. Cody Bellinger bopped his 9th of the year off Oz-man in the top of the 4th to make it 7-6, but Bethesda snagged two runs off Frankie Montas in their half on Chirinos’s 2nd of the day and an RBI single by Alen Hanson. Triple Creek’s turn again with two runs off Yoshihisa Hirano to make it 9-8 but again courtesy of David Peralta’s 9th dinger the Banidcoots were able to even it up in the 6th 9-9. Brandon Morrow apparently was offended with the prospect of setting up Steve Cishek and responded by giving up a pair of runs in the 8th with one of them coming on a homer by Piscotty (2). Joakim Soria fanned two in a surprisingly quiet 9th inning to preserve the win – his 5th save of the year. Offensively, Caleb Joseph, Piscotty and Chisenhall each had three hits for Triple Creek with Jon Jay getting three for Bethesda. Only starting pitcher Oswalt for the Bandicoots failed to get a hit.
Game #2:	Day 2 of the Crappy Pitching Festival for Bethesda featured Sonny Gray handing out 10 base hits in just five innings as the Patriots easily handled Bethesda 8-2. The Patriots wound up with 16 hits in total (only two were extrabase hits – doubles by Cody Bellinger and Stephen Piscotty) including four by Lourdes Gurriel who also drove in four runs. The Bandicoots meanwhile were super quiet getting only three hits against Shane Bieber and company with only Trevor Story’s two-run homer in the 1st inning – his 12th – driving in any runs.
Game #3:	Tyson Ross chucked six innings of one-run ball and although the bullpen struggled they managed to hold off the Patriots for a 5-3 win. Cody Bellinger (11) continued to hit like a madman smashing out two homers in the game and scoring three runs to lead the Patriots’ offense. Trevor Story (13) and homeless Brad Miller (3) countered for Bethesda. Alex Wood was iffy for Triple Creek starting on the mound. He managed to last six sloppy innings but gave up four runs on six hits and five walks. Steve Cishek didn’t impress in his temporary time in the closer spotlight allowing a homer in the process of protecting the three-run lead.
Game #4:	Bethesda’s Jake Arrieta lasted only two inings and Kevin Gausman bettered him a bit by making it through four, but it was another pitching bloodbath in Bethesda but this time the Bandicoots came out on top 9-7. Cody Bellinger and Stephen Piscotty continued to hit like mother …. well you get the idea … with Piscotty driving in four runs on the strength of homers numbered three and four on the year and Bellinger smashing his 12th – all off Arrieta. Ryan O’Hearn (1) and Brad Miller (4) homered for Bethesda with Miller’s pinch hit homer in the the 6th proving to be the winning run.
Game #5:	A 7-1 laugher although no one in Bethesda was laughing much as Triple Creek crushed Alex Cobb and the Bandicoots 7-1. The Patriots scored once in the 1st inning on an RBI single by Andrew Benintendi but then Cobb shut them down until falling apart in the 5th when they scored four times and chased his blistered ass. Another 10 hits in five innings performance for a Bethesda starter with Sonny Gray accomplishing the feat earlier in the series. Brad Miller smacked his 5th homer as one of two Bethesda hits while Cody Bellinger (13) and Caleb Joseph (2) got his 2nd. Stephen Piscotty and Jonathan Villar each had three hits for Triple Creek.
Game #6:	Corey Oswalt dominated (no – not a typo) through six innings before finally running out of gas, but the Bandicoots had built up too much of a lead for the Patriots to complete a comeback before time ran out and the series closed 3-3 with the home team capturing the final game 8-5. Oswalt left with none out in the 7th but entered the inning having allowed just three hits and two walks before running out of gas. The Bandicoots were leading comfortably 8-2 heading into the 9th but Matt Hall’s 2nd inning of relief work did not got as well as the scoreless 8th he tossed and he left the game with one out and two men aboard which suited Cody Bellinger just fine as his hot bat golfed one out of the park to dead centre field – his 14th – to make it 8-5. Lourdes Gurriel also homered for the Patriots. Trevor Story was the big guy for Bethesda with three base hits including a double and 14th homer of the season as part of a 4-RBI performance. David Peralta (10) and the surprising Brad Miller (6) also homered for Bethesda.
Series Summary:	A split series with some hot hitting by guys like Piscotty and Bellinger for Triple Creek and Story and Miller for Bethesda and not much in the way of pitching …

Series Summary:	Valdosta won the series 4 games to 2.

Manhattan Project @ Coconut Creek Crushers
Series Preview:	A very early 1st vs last match up.
Game #1:	All about poor pitching in this one. Pete O’Brien gets a start batting cleanup to give Myers a rest. O’Brien hits a 1b, 2b and hR with 5 RBI in a 13-10 CCC win.
Game #2:	Caleb Smith out duels Quintana in a 3-0 CCC win.
Game #3:	Richards is strong as MAN wins their first game 5-3.
Game #4:	Tanaka dominates in a 4-1 MAN win.
Game #5:	O’Brien gets a 2nd start in the series. He hits two Singles and another HR with 3 RBI to back Snell’s NO_HITTER!!!! CCC wins 7-1.
Game #6:	MAN jumps out to a fast 4-0 lead and CCC is unable to catch up. MAN wins the finale 6-3.
Series Summary:	Haniger and Cruz provided big HR’s for MAN. O’Brien and Betts produced the offense for CCC. Snell provided the biggest highlight with his No-Hitter. At the end of it all, the series was split 3-3.

Selkirk Steelers @ Tempe Tempers
Series Preview:	Selkirk has played Tempe tougher when in Arizona over the last couple of years. Will trend continue?
Game #1:	Mikolas complete game shutout. JD Martinez, Gattis and Cespedes homered for Tempe. Tempe 6-0
Game #2:	Tempe gets one in the first, but fan interference limited a big inning. Matz helped his cause with a two run hr, but the rest of the team let him down. Braun two run hr. Beltre rbi single. Tempe 4-2
Game #3:	Kluber came off the DL an itchy 21 grade. 🙂 He pitched 6 hit-less innings before leaving for a pitch hitter. JD HR and rbi double. Bogaerts rbi double. Ozuna hr. Braun hr. Melancon allowed four runs in the final three innings. Tempe 7-4
Game #4:	Tempe got two in first on 4 hits. Nick Williams and Profar hit solo homeruns for Selkirk to tie. Brantley sac fly. In the 7th, a couple errors allowed the tying run to score and then Profar crushed a grand slam. Tempe surrendered five unearned runs in an ugly 7th. Selkirk 7-4
Game #5:	Cueto worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first and eventually pitched around 7 hits for a complete game shutout. Braun hit a homerun and had a couple hits driving in three. Tempe 4-0
Game #6:	Wolters rbi single and Dixon two run hr put Selkirk up early. Williams solo made it a 4-0 lead. Albies rbi double gave Tempe one. In bottom of the 7th Tempe loaded the bases with no outs but only ended up with one run due to Franco (pinch hitting) hitting into a double play. In bottom of the 9th Tempe put runners on the corners with one out giving Franco the chance to redeem himself…. He hit into another double play to end the game. Selkirk 4-2
Game #7:	A Sanchez two run hr broke a 1-1 tie and gave Selkirk a 3-1 lead. Tempe responded with homeruns by Upton, Albies and Gattis to go up 5-3. Matz hit his second homerun of the series. (Selkirk needs to consider making him a two way player.) Tempe’s pen pitched four scoreless innings to preserve the win for Lester. Tempe 5-4
Series Summary:	Tempe was able to win 5 of 7, but Selkirk was within striking distance in most games.

Long Beach Dirt Bags @ Sacramento Capitals
Series Summary:	In a surprising series, Long Beach bats go quiet and the Caps get the sweep.

Game #1:	SWD 5 – MCM 4 WP: J. Gray LP: de Grom SV: Burnes HR: SWD–Lowe, Wieters; MCM–Granderson, Kendrick Ex-Muscle players Jon Gray and Matt Wieters led the way for SWD.
Game #2:	MCM 5 – SWD 4 WP: Liberatore LP: Burnes HR: SWD–Andujar; MCM–Villanueva Christian Villanueva walked it off with a 10th inning two-run bomb to make up for the two-run error he made to allow SWD to tie the game in the 9th inning. SWD had taken a lead in the top of the 10th.
Game #3:	MCM 4 – SWD 2 WP: K. Stewart LP: Pannone SV: Nuno HR: SWD–Bader; MCM–D. Fowler, Ahmed SWD jumps out to another early lead but can’t hold it.
Game #4:	MCM 3 – SWD 1 WP: R. Hill (CG) LP: R. Lopez HR: SWD–Swanson Rich Hill struck out 16 for MCM, while Reynoldo Lopez stuck out 10 of his ex-mates for SWD.
Game #5:	MCM 7 – SWD 5 WP: Verlander LP: C. Fulmer SV: Wendelken HR: SWD–Wieters; MCM–Castellanos (2), Kinsler Nick Castellanos led the MCM hitting attack with two homers. The MCM bullpen was a bit shaky but held on. Willson Contreras injured 7 days
Game #6:	MCM 5 – SWD 0 WP: de Grom LP: Lucchesi HR: MCM–S. Perez, A. Garcia De Grom dominated, going the distance and striking out 11, while only giving up two hits.
Game #7:	MCM 7 – SWD 4 WP: Wendelken LP: M. castro SV: Nuno HR: none Another game in which MCM had to come back after SWD fought back to tie it late. Nick Castellanos was again the hitting hero for MCM, with three hits and four RBI.
Series Summary:	MCM takes the series 6 games to 1 It was a hard-fought series in which SWD had a lead in every game but Game 6. Rich Hill struck out 16 batters in his Game 4 win. MCM hit 10 HRs in the series; SWD hit 6. Nick Castellanos of MCM hit .480 (12-25), with 3 runs, 10 RBI, 2 HRs and 2 doubles SWD’s Willson Contreras was injured for 7 days in Game 5

Hollywood Werewolves @ Fremont Cannons
Game #1:	Fremont can’t get anything going against Clayton Kershaw, losing 3-0. Ketel Marte goes 3-5 for Hollywood.
Game #2:	In a back and forth affair, Hollywood takes it 8-5 in a game featuring 27 combined hits. Miguel Cabrera goes 3-3 with a HR and two BB.
Game #3:	The wind was blowing out hard, and Fremont nabs its first win of the series 6-5. Hollywood homers were provided by Christian Yelich, Matt Olson, and J.T. Riddle; the Cannons saw Yulieski Gurriel, Khris Davis, Teoscar Hernandez, Manuel Margot, and James McCann all leave the yard.
Game #4:	A 5-run fourth breaks this open for the Werewolves, as they beat Fremont 9-1. paul Goldschmidt goes 3-4 to raise his average to .431.
Game #5:	This one took extra-innings to resolve, but ultimately Fremont won 3-2. Shohei Ohtani singles home Max Kepler for the winning run.
Game #6:	Clayton Kershaw again is brilliant, shutting out Fremont 8-0 to pick up his 5th win.
Series Summary:	Hollywood takes the series 4-2. Clayton Kershaw is the likely pitcher of the week for the AL, going 2-0, 0 ER in 15.2 IP, with 7H, 0BB, and 14K. Fremont’s catchers shut down the running game, as Hollywood goes 2-10 in ASB.

Portland Lumber Jax @ Corktown Cycle
Series Preview:	Portland visits Corktown this week. The Cycle are currently in 1st place in the NL East despite playing a few games below .500 ball, while Portland is in a battle among giants in the NL West.
Game #1:	Rookie Jack Flaherty continues to shine for the Lumber Jax going 7 with 2 earned while fanning 6. Portland 5-3 W. Jack Flaherty 5-0 L. Jacob Faria 1-3 S. T.J. Mcfarland (6)
Game #2:	Corktown empties their bench and it somehow paid off as they score 3 in the 9th on a Tony Kemp PH HR to tie it and walked it off in the 10th. Corktown 6-5 (10) W. Blake Treinen 2-1 L. Tyler Clippard 0-2
Game #3:	Walker Buehler piggybacked on fellow rookie Jack Flaherty and crusised in this one giving up 1 run over 6 innings. Adrian Gonzalez showed flashes of his former self with 4 RBI coming into the game late. Portland 9-1 W. Walker Buehler 3-2 L. Robbie Ray 1-3
Game #4:	For the 2nd time in the series Corktown comes from behind and gets the Lumber Jax pen for the win. It was Chris Taylor with a 2 RBI hit off Blaine Hardy in the 7th in this one. Corktown 3-2 W. Jose Berrios 4-0 L. German Marquez 1-3 S. Blake Treinen (7)
Game #5:	The sew saw series continues as Portland gets another W as Kyle Freeland goes the distance giving up 1 lone hit (3 run HR). Freeland punched out 10 and walked 3. Portland 6-3 W. Kyle Freeland CG 6-1 L. Brian Johnson 0-3
Game #6:	Corktown gets a good game out of starter Jorge Lopez (Until trying to blow it in the 8th giving up 3) Corktown 5-3 W. Jorge Lopez 2-1 L. Jack Flaherty 5-1 S. Blake Treinen (8)
Series Summary:	Corktown and Portland split the 6 game series going back and fourth. Seems like a big victory for the home team (14-17) as the NL East proves to be anyones division, while Portland 22-10 will need to pickup more victories elsewhere while battling in the NL West with the champs and a much improved Long Beach club. Portland gets to battle Tempe next as a true test to measure the clubs status.

Game #1:	The King was just that, going the distance & allowing only 3 Runs. Francisco Mejia had a Home Run & 3 RBI’s for Chicago. Freddie Freeman & Billy Hamilton chipped in with 2 RBI’s each. Final Score: Chicago 8 – Mesa 3 Win: Felix Hernandez 1-2 (4.26) Loss: Wei-Yin Chen 0-4 (5.40)
Game #2:	A 4 run 8th inning for the Solar Sox off Mobsters reliever Dellin Betances was enough to squeak by Chicago as Mesa picks up the 1-Run victory. Final Score: Mesa 6 – Chicago 5 Win: David Hernandez 1-1 (2.38) Loss Dellin Betances 0-4 (9.75) Save: Jeremy Jeffress #6
Game #3:	Mitch Garver was 4 for 5 & Eddir Rosario was 3 for 4 with a Double & 3 RBI’s for Mesa. Chicago could only muster up 6 Hits, 3 of them by Billy Hamilton. Final Score: Mesa 8 – Chicago 1 Win: Andrew Heany 4-1 (3.43) Loss Marcus Stroman 2-2 (3.99)
Game #4:	After a day off in the heat, Chicago found their hitting shoes. The Mobsters pounded out 16 Hits. Neil Walker had 3 Hits, including 2 Doubles. Andrelton Simmons had 4 Hits in 5 trips including 2 RBI’s. Chicago bullpen came in after Noah Syndergaard’s 5 Inning of work and held the Solar Sox to just 2 Hits in 4 Innings. Final Score: Chicago 15 – Mesa 2 Win: Noah Syndergaard 3-1 (3.26) Loss: Clayton Richard 0-4 (9.37)
Game #5:	Chicago gets 1 Run in the 9th off an Andrew McCutchen solo Home Run to take a 3-2 lead. Aroldis Chapman took the hill for the bottom of the 9th & despite walking the bases loaded he wiggles free for the Save & the 3-2 Mobster victory. C.C. Sabathia seems like he’s found the fountain of youth. Final Score: Chicago 3 – Mesa 2 Win: C.C. Sabathia 4-1 (1.90) Loss: Jeremy Jeffress 2-1 (1.77) Save: Aroldis Chapman #5
