Pittsburgh  Lumber Company @ Triple Creek  Patriots

Series Preview:  Pittsburgh is 2 games back of Bethesda and 4 of the Wild Card. Triple Creek has been fading for weeks and stand 10 back in the Wild Card. A big series by the Patriots could make things a bit more interesting.
Game #1:  Odorizzi is rocked early and often and allows 7 runs in just 3+ innings. Graveman is solid for the home squad and the coverage relievers mop up. Villar 3-4 w/ 2 HRs 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Moreland drills a 3-run shot.

Game #2:  Patriots lead 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Pittsburgh starter Darvish starts to labor so Soprano calls for Ynoa. Ynoa-what? He gets crushed. Ynoa allows 5 runs on 3 walks and 2 hits (1 HR) to put the game out of reach for the Company. Piscotty 3-4 w/ 5 RBI and 2 HRs.

Yonge Street  Stalkers @ Virginia  Sluggers

Series Preview:  Two teams playing out the year.
Game #1:  YSS 13-8
17 hits is a good way to start any series. Trea Turner homers and gets 3 hits and 3 RBI. David Wright also cranks out 3 hits for 3 RBI and has a long ball. And Abraham Almonte joined in by punching out 3 singles for 5 RBI. The beneficiary of all this was Taijuan Walker (11-6) who allowed 13 hits in 6 innings along with 4 runs. The Stalkers’ bullpen almost blew it as the Sluggers scored a total of 7 runs in the 7th and 8th innings,…but Hunter Strickland got all 5 batter he faced to pick up his 2nd Save of the year.
Game #2:  VIR 2-0
RBI’s in the 1st inning by George Springer and Carlos Santana held up for Virginia as Luis Perdomo (12-10) and Michael Pineda (6-12) hooked up in a pitchers’ duel. Perdomo threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball and Trevor Cahil picked up his 16th Save.
Game #3:  VIR 12-1
Chris Tillman (9-8) is stingy, allowing only 2 hits over 8 innings,…one of them a RBI single by Jorge Soler. Meanwhile, the Sluggers are cranking out 14 hits for 12 runs. Everyone except Todd Cruz got a hit for Virginia. George Springer had a 3-run homer and Jackie Bradley Jr. tripled and homered to drive in 4.
Game #4:  VIR 5-3
More good pitching for VIR. Chris Archer (11-9) goes 8.1 scattering 5 hits. He does allow Joc Pederson’s 2 run dinger in the 6th to tie the game, but Carlos Santana’s 2-run double in the 8th makes a winner of Archer.
Game #5:  VIR 11-1
Another game where VIR scores a lot of runs. Neil Walker flexes his muscle by going Bridge twice for a total of 5 RBI. Trevor Williams (10-9) K’s 11 in 8 innings for the win.
Game #6:  YSS 6-3
Yonge Street takes the book-ends with this win in game 6. Taijuan Walker (12-6) again picks up the win but, this time, hold VIR to only 3 hits in 7 innings. Kelvin Herrera took care of all 6 batters he faced in the last 2 innings to record the his 14th Save. Mike Zunino was the offense as he went 3-5 with his 12th home run and collected 3 RBI.
Series Summary:  A 4-2 series win for VIR.
For VIR, Carlos Santana was 9-20 (.450) with a homer and 9 RBI.
George Springer was 8-22 (.364) with 2 homers and 9 RBI.
For Yonge Street, Trea Turner continues to rip in his quest for Rookie of the Year as he went 8-19 (.421) with a homer and 3 RBI.

Mesa  Solar Sox @ Detroit  Crime

Series Summary:  Detroit takes series over Mesa 4 games to 2.

Windy City  Black Sox @ Jersey  Nor’easters

Series Preview:  Windy City visits the Nor’easters.
Game #1:  Brandon Belt hits a 1st inning 3 run homer for Windy City but Jersey claws back capped by a 2 run homer off the bat of Cesar Hernandez and the Nor’easters hang on to win 5-4.
Game #2:  Alexi Ramirez hits a deciding 3 run homer and Windy City comes away with a 6-3 win.
Game #3:  Windy City pounds out 18 hits in an easy 11-5 win.
Game #4:  Chad Bettis limits the Nor’easters to 5 hits as Windy City wins 4-1.
Game #5:  Tomas and Bruce hit back-to-back homers in the first for Jersey but they can’t stop Windy City. Windy City wins 5-4.
Game #6:  Gio Gonzalez pitches a complete games for Windy City losing his shutout in the 9th when Lucas Duda hits a 2 run homer for Jersey. Windy City wins 4-2.
Series Summary:  Jersey continues it’s march to nowhere dropping 5 of 6 to Windy City.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Rosemere  Renegades

Series Preview:  First place Bethesda travels North to face last place Renegades.
Game #1:  Liriano scores a 90 as he goes the distance in a 3-0 Renegades win. Crawford provides the offensive support going 3 for 4 with 2 rbi.
Game #2:  Lackey gets injured after a couple of outs but Bethesda doesn’t get distracted and get the 9-0 ez win. Many offensive stars for the winner who collected 18 hits.
Game #3:  Arrieta goes the distance in an easy 5-1 win. Shaw gets a double and a homer with a couple of rbi.
Game #4:  Renegades gets their second win of the series behind Eickhoff CG effort. 3-2 locals.
Game #5:  Hill improves to 11-0 on a 5-0 win. The top of the order collected 7 of the 10 visitor’s hits.
Game #6:  The visitors secures the series on a 9-5 win. Another strong offensive performance for them as they collected 17 hits.
Series Summary:  The locals puts a scare on the visitors but Bethesda was able to collect 4 wins.

Southbend  Lynx @ Motor City  Muscle

Series Preview:  Valdosta plays host to Corktown.
Series Summary: Too depressing to think about…The Cycle sweep the 6 game set. 

Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas @ Coconut Creek  Crushers

Series Preview:  To quote Dennis Eckersley … “YUCK.”
Game #1:  Godley and Iglesias are too much for SWD as CCC wins 3-1.
Game #2:  SWD puts up 6 runs in the 1st and coasts to a 12-3 win.
Game #3:  Hahn and Iglesias are too strong for SWD. The Crusher offense swats 4 HR’s to win 4-2. We try to only hit solo shots. lol
Game #4:  0-8 Henry Owens proves too much for CCC as he goes 7 IP with 2 runs.  CCC scores 2 more off the bullpen but it isn’t enough as SWD wins 6-4.
Game #5:  Six CCC pitchers combine on a nifty 9-hit shutout.  Betts and Myers hit HR’s to lead the CCC 7-0 win.
Game #6:  Jon Gray returns the favor with a dominant 3-hit shutout. He added 16 K’s
just to show off. SWD wins5-0.
Series Summary:  Back and forth tennis match ends at a 3-3 draw as both teams said “fuck it” and packed their bags.

Sacramento  Capitals @ Columbus  Explorers

Series Preview:  In a battle versus the I’ve Made It (Sacramento) vs. the I Wanna Be’s (Columbus) – the I Wanna Be’s almost won 4 games, but the I’ve Made Its ended up with the 4-2 series win and a couple of those weren’t close. And a couple of those wins were.
Game #1:  No contest as Max Scherzer tosses a 4 hit CG, 13 K shutout! Francisco Lindor gets 3 hits and of the 5 Capitals that got 2 hits each, Albert Puljos makes his two leave the yard (23, 24) for 5 rbis.

Game #2:  Explorers manage to score 4 in the 2nd inning of game 2, add 2 more in the 4th and hold off the Capitals to even the series. Eduardo Nunez goes 4 for 4, Ryan Zimmerman connects (8) as does Russell Martin (14). Giancarlo Stanton (19) and Albert Puljos (25) hits homers for Sacramento.

Game #3:  The Capitals didn’t like losing game 2, so they put up a 6 spot in the 7th inning of this one to ensure that the Explorers knew who was the better team. Albert Puljos got 2 hits, but no homers in this one, but Francisco Lindor smacked his 17th and Giancarlo Stanton made his 20th homer a grand slam! Chris Sale (6 ip, 1 hit, 7ks, 1 run) and Tyler Cravy (3 ip) combined for a 2 hitter.

Game #4:  But the good guys come back for this game. Down 4-0 after 3 – including a Giancarlo Stanton 2 run homer (21), the Explorers bounce back for 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 6th and another in the 7th. 3 hits and 3 rbis from Ryan Zimmerman pace the offense and Ervin Santana and 3 relievers hand;e the Caps.

Game #5:  Columbus builds a 5-2 lead after 5. It shrinks to 5-3 in the 6th and then Hunter Pence doubles in 2 in the 9th to tie it up. Then with 2 outs and a runner on 1st Pence singles to LF and Charlie Blackmon misplaces the ball and Delino DeShields Jr. comes around to score what turns out to be the winning run as the Caps take it 6-5 in 11. Their bullpen quieted the home team from the 6th on. Evan Longoria contributed his 30th homer to the melee.

Game #6:  The finale was another tight one as the Explorers jump out to a 3-0 lead after 2 with hopes of evening the series. Ian Desmond (17) Eduardo Nunez (14) went back to back in the 2nd. BUT Giancarlo Stanton launches a 3 run bomb in a 4 run 5th, the Caps adds single runs in the 6th and 8th and hang on to prevail 6-4. Max Scherzer hung tough after the rough start to pick up his 2nd win of the series.

Series Summary:  Sacramento Capitals only have one other team in the NL to worry about – the Tempe Tempers (of the evil empire fame). The Explorers – having a good year – are not quite in their class. Sacramento takes 4 heads home to host Valdosta and he Explorers are off to Corktown as September rolls around. Crowded dugouts coming.

Series Preview:  First place in the American League Central take on 3rd place & Wild Card Hopeful Bottle Rockets of Tijuana in a 6 game series.
Game #1:  Andrelton Simmons is 3 for 3 for the Mobsters & a J.D. Martinez solo Home Run give Chicago all they need.

Game #4:  This was the Corey Kluber show. Kluber shut down the Mobsters allowing only 2 Walks and 2 Hits. Jake Lamb had 3 RBI’s for the Bottle Rockets.

Game #5:  All Chicago in this one. Hitting and Pitching. Noah Syndergaard goes 7 allowing only 1 Hit & 4 Walks, but held the Bottle Rockets off the scoreboard. J.D. Martinez was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI’s. Nelson Cruz delivered 2 Hits, including a Home Run & 5 RBI’s.

Selkirk  Steelers @ Tempe  Tempers

Series Preview:  Tempe looks to lock up the NL West Division title at home against Selkirk.
Game #1:  Tempe gets homeruns by Votto and Cano. Cueto went five easy innings for the win with Santiago going the last four for the save.
Tempe 8-2
Game #2:  Wright was shaky early giving up two runs, but Cespedes rallied the Tempers with a grand slam. Chen went five innings in relief for his 5th save of the season.
Tempe 8-4
Game #3:  Adams hit a two run hr and later a solo homerun, but that was all the offense the Steelers could manage. Cabrera’s two run hr put Tempe up for good and Chacin pitched seven decent innings for the win.
Tempe 6-3
Game #4:  Lester went 7.2 Innings securing his 20 win and more importantly, the 2017 NL Central Division Title for Tempe.
Tempe 6-1
Game #5:  Leon and Braun each hit two run homeruns and Cueto throws another easy five innings for the win.
Tempe 8-1
Game #6:  Norris and Iwakuma matched up very well in a surprising pitchers duel. Norris only gave up RBI singles to Leon and Tulo over six innings while Iwakuma went 8.1 INN and only made one mistake to Sanchez (Solo HR). Norris dropped to an ugly 2-21 and Iwakuma improved to 6-0.
Tempe 2-1
Series Summary:  Tempe gets the sweep and more importantly the NL Central title. Selkirk looks towards the future and drafting early in the 2018 Draft.
