J.A. HAPP THROWS NO-HITTER FOR COLUMBUS

1JA_Happ16No-HItterst Time in 17 years – Columbus Explorers have a no-hitter!

On April 9th, 2016, J.A. Happ tossed the 2nd no-hitter in Explorers history as he shut down the Jersey Nor’easters 3-0. Happ, who only a few short years ago, thought his baseball career might be over when his face was rearranged by a line drive, faced 30 batters, giving up 3 walks in the game. When interviewed after the game he said.”wow, what a day. Never dreamed this could happen.  Can’t say enough about the Columbus management for sticking with me, and the guys, the way they poured out of the dugout after the last out, you’d have thought we won the World Series.”

Indeed, when the final out was recorded, the entire Explorer team surround J.A – mobbing him in joy. This was great for him, and perhaps a big part in a catalyst that might be seeing the Explorers turning a new corner. For J.A. his record now in the young season is 3-0 with 2 shutouts and a miniscule 0.38 era.  The last time the Explorers recorded a no-hitter was on August 7, 1999 when Tim Wakefield blanked Younge Street in a 7-0 victory.     CLICK HERE FOR THE BOX SCORE
