Columbus  Explorers @ Sacramento  Capitals

Series Preview: Sacramento comes to Columbus to give the Explorers a 7 game beat down!!!
Game #1: 6-5 Sacramento going into the 9th – oops we give them 2 more runs and lose 8-5. All 8 Sacramento runs were attributable to homers!
WP Rich Hill (2-5) S Casey Sadler (7) a 2.2 inning save!
LP Jordan Lyles (4-9)
HRs: SAC – Sterling Castro (33), Avisail Garcia (7), Garrett Cooper (3), Manny Pina 2 (10); COL – Perez (17)
Game #2: Explorers get late inning scoring to win a close one 5-2 even though Sacramento outhit them 8 to 5.
LP Ross Detwiler (0-1)
WP Kolby Allard (3-10) S Liam Hendriks (12)
HRs: SAC – Trey Mancini (8); COL – Charlie Blackmon (2), Salvador Perez (18)
Game #3: Capital win an easy one 5-1 behind 3 hit performance from Josh Harrison and 2 for 4, 2 rbi game from Michael A. Taylor. Only homer in the game was from Columbus’s Enrique Hernandez (4).
WP Steven Matz (8-2)
LP J.A. Happ (3-9)
Game #4: Carlos Matias Martinez back from the DL opens the game as a 1 and gives up 3 runs and bunches of hit in the 1st. Then he gives up and unearned run in the 5th, so he begins to grade up, finally reaching 20. And he’s doing so well that when the Explorers actually tie the score at 4-4, he stays in. 9 innings, 10 innings, into the 11th – but that was too much. Manny Pina opens the 11th with a solo homer (11) and that is enough for Sacramento to win the game as Casey Sadler gets the save. Starter Joe Ross gives up 4 hits, 2 UNEARNED runs in 7 innings (he was upgraded as well). A Salvador Perez 2 run homer in the 8th tied the game. Final 5-4 Capitals.
WP Jose Alvarez (2-2) S Sadler (8)
LP Martinez (1-5)
HRs: SAC – Avasail Garcia (8), Pina (11); COL – Perez (19)
Game #5: Another game that isn’t over after 9 – as the Explorers can’t hold the lead as Sacramento scores 2 in the 8th to tie it up. Liam Hendriks is getting iffy all of a sudden – but he hangs in for 2.2 innings and when D.J. LaMahieu homers in the 11th for 3 runs, he gets a win. Final 6-3 Columbus in 11 innings
Giancarlo Stanton gave it a valiant try with 3 hits (double), but it wasn’t enough.
LP Jesse Chavez (0-1) – although he left in the 11th with 1 on (no outs) and Seth Lugo came in and gave up a walk and the big 3 run homer.
WP Liam Hendriks (2-0) BS (1)
Game #6: Columbus has some stellar starters (not) – so let’s go for another EXTRA INNING GAME! 10 innings of fun with Sacramento scoring 1 in the 3rd on a Josh Harrison single. Columbus ties it with a Trevor Story homer in the 5th. Jordan Lyles was doing so well (and upgraded after the 8th) that he stays in to pitch the 9th and 10 (up, too long again). Wilmer Flores leads off the 10th with a walk. Then Yusmeiro Petit comes in and after a sacrifice bunt that moves Flores to 2nd, Harrison gets his 3rd hit of the game, an rbi double. And that was enough to get Sacramento the win, 2-1.
WP Casey Sadler (2-1)
LP Lyles (4-10)
HR: COL – Story (13)
Game #7: Believe it or not, the finale wasn’t an extra inning affair – but almost! Tony Watson and and Liam Hendriks couldn’t keep a 5-3 lead that Columbus had at the end of 7 innings! Watson comes in in the 8th with 1 out and then walks 2, gives up 2 hits and Sacramento scores 2 runs to tie. Then Hendriks comes in to pitch the 9th to keep it tied and gives up a walk and then a double to Manny Pina to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Garrett Cooper up, grounds hard to 3b – only play was the out at first as the winning run scores. Trey Mancini 3 hits in the game, A.J. Pollock 3 for 4 with a run and 2 rbis and a 2 run homer in the 4th.
WP Louis Head (1-1)
LP Hendriks (2-1) BS Watson (2)
HRs: SAC – Pollock (6); COL – Enrigue Hernandez (5)
Series Summary: Sacramento takes the series 5 games to 2 – although it could have been different (in either direction) as Sacramento wins 3 1 run games (2 in extra innings) Entertaining series, to say the least.

Chicago  Mobsters @ Virginia  Sluggers

Series Preview: Mighty (?) Chicago comes South to face the struggling Virginia Gentlemen.
Game #1: VIR 9-5
A 4-run 1st and a 4-run 2nd give VIR a lead CHI could not overcome. A.Velazquez get 3 hits and 3 RBI. E.Jimenez has 2 hits, a homer and 3 RBI. T.Williams gets the win, L.McCullers gets the loss and is yanked after the 1st inning.
Game #2: CHI 7-6
J.Votto hit two 2-run Homers driving in 4 runs. A.Bregman added a 2-run shot, and S.Marte got the other RBI with a 3-3 day. But CHI had to hold on as VIR mounted a comeback with R.Devers;3-run HR, J.Bradley’s 2-run HR and A.Rizzo;s solo shot. Fortunately for CHI, D.Williams and A.Reyes pitched a 1-2-3 8th and 9th to preserve the win.
Game #3: CHI 9-8
A.Bregman’s Grandslam in the 5th gave CHI a 9-2 lead, but CHI had to rely on Williams and Reyes once again to preserve the victory. VIR was down 9-4 in the 8th when E.Jimenez hit a Grandslam to bring VIR within 1 at 9-8. Enter the bullpen boys, Williams and Reyes. Game over.
Game #4: VIR 4-3
This time, D.Williams didn’t get his job done. With CHI leading 3-2 in the 8th, B.Reynolds doubled in 2 runs to give VIR the lead and J.Chargois came in to get save #17.
Game #5: CHI 6-0
An 8th inning single by J.Segura ruined T.Bauer’s bid for a no-hitter. But hey, a 1-hitter ain’t bad. L.Cain went 4-5 scoring 3 and driving in 3 while popping 2 home runs.
Game #6: CHI 6-2
CHI kept on rolling as they pounded 13 hits and their pitchers ran their shutout innings streak to 16. J.Votto also continued his hot hitting with his 18th homer. L.McCullers atoned for his disastrous game 1 start by throwing 7 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs.
Series Summary: VIR gave CHI a scare for the first 4 games. However, CHI had too much hitting and too many good, high grade pitchers to lose to a team as bad as VIR. CHI took the series 4-2.
Oh,well. Is the season over yet?

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Rosemere  Renegades

Series Preview: The Bethesda Bandicoots try to stop their downward spiral into the abyss by using the Rosemere Renegades as a last minute handhold.
Game #1: Only a 5-run 8th inning kept this game from being a complete laugher as the Renegades donated the Bandicoots some runs but it was not enough as the visitors took it 10-7. The Renegades cranked out 17 hits in the process making Mitch Keller’s first of the season memorable for Bethesda, but in a very bad way (like the first time you fell asleep on the beach). Chad Pinder doubled and homered and topped Rosemere with 4 RBIs with Juan Soto being the only reason to watch the game if you were a ‘Coots fan as he launched a pair of homers and drove in four runs. Bethesda, of course, had its prerequisite multi-game injury with starting SS going down for six days.
W-Lauer (4-3) Sv.Karinchak (3) L-Keller (0-1)
HR-RRG: Pinder (3); BET: Soto 2 (18)
Game #2: Juan Soto homers twice for the second game in a row but this time it was in a winning effort as the Bandicoots topped the Renegades 8-2. Soto was easily the best guy in the park not serving beer as he collected four hits on the day. Fernando Tatis had three hits for Rosemere.
W-Kelly (5-5) L-Weaver (0-1)
HR-BET: Schwindel (11), Soto 2 (20), McKenna (3)
Game #3: Juan Soto didn’t homer but did everything else as he missed the cycle only by the long ball and drove in five runs in a 16-7 Bethesda win. Kyle Seager also had four hits and drove in a pair of runs. Chad Pinder collected three hits for Rosemere. Another injury to Bethesda with Ryan McKenna going down for 3 days.
W-Odorizzi (7-3) L-Eovaldi (6-8)
HR-RRG: Hoskins (15); BET: McNeil (2)
Game #4: Juan Soto was back on the homer track with his 5th dinger of the series but her was overshadowed by Frank Schwindel who homered twice and drove in three runs in a 6-3 win. Fernando Tatis had two hits and drove in two runs for Rosemere.
W-Gant (3-7) Sv-Tepera (4) L-Gonsolin (0-3)
HR-BET: Soto (21). Schwindel 2 (13), Miller (9)
Game #5: With Juan Soto resting Reid Detmers comes through with just non-putrid enough a start to help the Bandicoots along to a 5-4 squeaker over Rosemere. Detmers missed a lot of bats in this one, racking up 9 Ks in just 5.1 innings. Chad Pinder continued to hit well against Bethesda with two hits and 3 RBIs. Victor Reyes collected three hits and drove in three from the leadoff spot for Bethesda.
W-Detmers (1-2) Sv-Antone (7) L-Manoah (4-4)
HR-BET:Reyes (3),McNeil (3)
Game #6: That frickin’ Chad Pinder guy again … Pinder-ella homered in the 5th with a man on to give the Renegades the lead and Eric Lauer did the rest striking out eight in a complete game four hitter that Rosemere took 3-2.
W-Lauer (5-3) L-Keller (0-2)
HR-RRG: Pinder (4)
Series Summary: Juan Soto and Frank Schwindel came through in a big way for Bethesda leading them to 4 wins in the 6 games while Eric Lauer easily was the best pitcher in the series with two wins for Rosemere including a gem in the final game.

TEMPERS 1 / 3 / 0
COMETS 3 / 3 / 0
WP – Manaea (7-4)
LP – Kim (1-1)
S – Jansen (16)

Game #6: For the third time in four games, Tempe would score 4 times in the first. The Tempers would build a 7-0 lead behind homeruns from Brantley (#5), Freeman (#11), and Perez (#6). The Comets would chip away … Harold Ramirez would hit a pinch-hit 2 run double in the bottom of the 9th to pull Baltimore within a run, but Dietrich Enns would strike out Joey Gallo, stranding Ramirez at 2nd, to end the game and preserve the game and series win.

TEMPERS 7 / 10 / 1

Fremont brings the excitement in the bottom of the first with back-to-back homers from Yoan Moncada and Shohei Ohtani off of Adrian Houser. Ohtani goes deep again in the third to make it 3-1 Fremont. Ohtani comes up again in the 5th with a man on, and sends it over the wall for his third HR in as many at-bats. Fremont takes a 5-1 lead. A Javier Baez sac fly makes it 6-1 in the 6th.

Jorge Soler gets one back with a solo HR in the 8th, but a Thairo Estrada dropped ball lets Fremont get a run in the bottom of the inning. Fremont closes out the game 7-2. Shohei Ohtani is the man of the game going 3-3 with 3 HR; after that, he was walked in both remaining AB. Max Kepler singles home Javier Baez in the bottom of the sixth, then Shohei Ohtani doubles home Yoan Moncada in the 7th to tie it at 4-4. Austin Nola then doubles in a run in the eighth to put the Stalkers back up 5-4. Emmanuel Clase then comes on and does his thing as Yonge Street wins 5-4.
