Valdosta Snappers @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Preview: Valdosta and Bethesda are two teams going nowhere and here they are racing to see who gets there first.
Game #1: A close 2-1 game goes into the crapper with the Snappers scoring seven runs in the top of the 9th and running away laughing with a 9-1 win.
HR-VAL: Pujols (16), Thomas (3)
W-Chacin (7-5)
Sv-Colome (25)
L-Milone (7-7)
Game #2: Another game settled in the top of the 9th – this one by a bases-loaded double play ground out by Joe Panik that scored Willy Adames to give Valdosta a 4-3 win.
Valdosta steals 7 bases on armless catcher Chris Herrmann without coming close to being caught.
HR: VAL: Pujols (17); BET: Miller (11), Pillar (22)
W-Guerra (6-7)
Sv-Ginkel (6)
L-Phelps (0-1)
Game #3: Another game decided in the late innings … very late in this case with Valdosta counting three runs on Willy Adames 2nd home run of the game in the 11th to take it 6-3.
Three more stolen bases for the Snappers, but this time off of Stephen Vogt.
HR: VAL: Adames 2 (24), Acuna (31); BET: McNeil (16)
W-Colome (1-3)
Sv-Ginkel (7)
L-Cessa (1-2)
Game #4: Another game where the Bandicoots made a low-grade starter look like Nolan Ryan and this time the benefactor was Tyler Alexander who struck out eight and allowed only six hits in a 1-0 shutout for Valdosta.
No steals in this one.
HR: VAL: H.Ramirez (5)
W-Alexander (7-9)
Sv-Colome (26)
L-Phelps (0-2)
Game #5: The Bandicoots’ newly acquired Paul Dejong homered to tie the game and then in the bottom of the 9th with one out Brad Miller’s sacrifice fly brought in DeJong to give Bethesda its’ first win of the series (spoiler alert) and last 3-2.
HR: BET: DeJong (26)
W-Cessa (2-2)
L-Gaviglio (3-1)
Game #6: Jordan Zimmermann blanked the punchless Bandicoots for eight innings while the Snappers dished out an ass-whipping in an 8-0 win to close out the series.
Amen.
HR: VAL: Donaldson (38), Acuna (32)
W-Zimmermann (9-16)
L-Milone (7-8)
Series Summary: Ugh. Probably one of the more feeble hitting displays I’ve ever seen. The Valdosta relievers are good, but their starting pitchers really are not, but the Bandicoots certainly thought they were. Kudos to the Valdosta low-grade starters fir rising to the occasion and taking 5 of 6 from Bethesda. Now we just have to figure out what the occasion was.

Tempe Tempers @ Pittsburgh Lumber Company

Series Preview: In an interesting twist of fate, Tempe and Pittsburgh clash immediately following the big Verlander deal.

With many familiar faces wearing new jerseys – will the mood be light, or will the competitive fires be stoked?

Game #1: Yu Darvish opens the series for Tempe, facing the team that just traded him away. Will he get revenge? Not this day, as he’s rudely greeted with a Josh Bell 2-run HR in the 1st and gets pinch-hit for after only one turn through the lineup. Temple claws back to tie it up (twice, at 2-2 and 4-4), but ultimately The Lumber Company prevails winning it 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th. Ken Giles blows the save but gets the cheap win thanks to the Pittsburgh bats.
Game #2: Mike Clevinger and Wade Miley have a pitchers duel, but Clevinger is the stronger of the two, going 7.2 innings and allowing only 2 hits (one a HR by Castillo) and striking out 11 as the good guys win it 2-1. Kirby Yates rubs salt into the Tempe wound by collecting a one-batter save against his former team.
Game #3: Ryu and Hamels (former Pittsburgh SP) square off and both lefties pitch brilliantly. Ryu hangs a curve to Bogaerts in the top of the 6th and it costs him 2 runs and ultimately saddles him with a 3-1 loss. Pittsburgh commits 3 errors in the contest.
Game #4: Tempers hang 4 runs on Sonny Gray in the 4th (Grand Slam by Freddie Freeman), but it’s a bummer for Tempe as Aaron Bummer collects his 10th save after Pittsburgh rallies for 6 runs in the 6th. Lumber Company only gets 6 hits off of Wainwright and Ramirez, but they make them count. Jorge Polanco’s bases-clearing PH triple is the big blow.
Game #5: Verlander faces his former team (he barely knew ’em) and shows who’s the boss – he handily beats Yu Darvish (another very short start) to collect his 20th win of the season as the home team wins it 6-2. Tempers only manage 2 hits (one a HR by Albies, the other a double by Billy Hamilton) while the Lumber company blasts 3 homers – two by Hunter Renfroe; the first as a pinch-hitter against Floro.
Game #6: Their morale broken, Tempe curls up into a ball as the Lumber Company pounds them 7-2 to win the final game. This time, it’s ex-Temper Howie Kendrick who rubs it in with a pair of homers against Ramirez in the middle innings to make it a rout.
Series Summary: 5 of 6 from Tempe is always a good thing. We head out on the road for 2 series before wrapping up at home, so it was nice to have a big homestand before boarding the plane.

Sacramento Capitals @ Triple Creek Patriots

Series Preview: Division-leading Capitals sail into Triple Creek for 6 games.
Series Summary: The teams played nearly 7 games as one went very deep. The Patriots somehow manage 4 wins as they take all the close ones.

Rosemere Renegades @ Selkirk Steelers

Series Preview: Selkirk playing a few games above .500 were ran into a lot of Rosemere pride and can only win 2 of the 6 games.
Series Summary: Rosemere plays well and wins 4 of the 6 at Selkirk. Lauer pitches his best game of the year a complete game 6 hitter vs a tough selkirk lineup winning 1-0

Mesa Solar Sox @ Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary: Mesa Solar Sox Crush the Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas 3 games to 2 with a rainout, but lots of runs scored for the Solar Sox.

Series Summary: Somehow Long Beach took 4 of 6 from first-place Columbus.

Portland Lumber Jax @ Corktown Cycle

Series Summary: Corktown takes 4 of the 6 games.

Chicago Mobsters @ Hollywood Werewolves

Game #1: Chicago shuts out Hollywood 5-0 behind Danny Santana’s 4 hit-4 RBi performance.
Game #2: Hollywood hammers out 5 in the 1st, but Chicago plats 8 in the 2nd. Hollywood ties it with 4 in the 3rd, thanks to a Tom Murphy Grand Slam and rolls to a 14-9 win.
Game #3: Chicago hammers Kershaw for 3 homers and holds on to win 4-3 in a hard-fought game.
Game #4: It’s a shame Hollywood didn’t alter the rotation and put Gingergaard vs Syndergaard in Game 3, however, May did not disappoint with a 7-inning performance to pick up his first career win 4-1.
Game #5: Really all Hollywood. They go up 8-1 then clear the bench and hold on for an 8-5 win.
Game #6: a tight game is tied at 4 until the 7th when Hollywood plates 2 more to win 6-4 with Will T Harris picking up save 39.
Series Summary: Hollywood takes 4 of 6 and if they don’t choke, could see Chicago in the playoffs.
There are certainly no sure things in the AL this year. it’s wide open as Hollywood’s hitting goes in spurts and their pitching gives up way too many home runs.

Virginia Sluggers @ Tijuana Bottle Rockets

Series Preview: Virginia travels south to take on The Bottle Rockets
Series Summary: The Sluggers take it to the home team, dropping only 1 of the 6 games played.

This time YSS can’t hold the lead, but neither can MCM. after a see-saw game, YSS ties it in the top of the ninth with two runs. in the bottom of the ninth, Jeimer Candelario, who had three hits in the game, saved MCM’s depleted pitching staff with a walk-off three-run HR.

Game #6: YSS 19 – MCM 6

WP: Cole
LP: Clarke

HR: YSS–Thames, Sogard, Heyward, Frazier, Soler, Zunino, Hicks, Nola; MCM–Trout, Beaty

The YSS offense had a field day, with eight homers by eight different hitters. Of the starters, only SS Cole Tucker failed to go deep, but he made up for it with three hits. Aaron Hicks led with four RBI, but every starter had at least one.

Detroit Crime @ Fremont Cannons

Series Preview: Fremont might have a chance at the playoffs with a sweep. Detroit and Chicago are battling for the AL Central crown.
Game #1: Zac Gallen continues to pitch well, and the Cannons pitching allows only 3 hits in the 4-2 Fremont victory. Max Kepler hits HR number 28.
Game #2: Max Kepler has another nice day, hitting 2 home runs to reach 30 on the season. The game goes into the ninth tied 4-4. A walk and HBP followed by a sac bunt sets up Detroit at 2nd and 3rd, and Kyle Schwarber is able to single both runners home for the Crime 6-4 victory. Madison Bumgarner improves to 17-5.
Game #3: Carlos Correa decides to follow up Max Kepler’s 2-HR day with one of his own. Dylan Bundy strikes out 8 in 6.1 IP and improves to 11-11 as the Cannons win 7-4. Luke Voit goes 3-3 with a walk in the loss.
