Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Detroit Crime

Series Summary

Tijuana wins series over Detroit,.

Tempe Tempers @ Selkirk Steelers

Series Preview

Selkirk is a last place team and Tempe is a first place monster. Things did not look good, and the insane Iwakuma was starting twice. He is a 25 game winner with an era 1.08

Game #1:

Salazar struck out 14 but Iwakuma was solid with 2 in 7 winning his 26th. Cano and Cuddyer homer. Tempe 7 Selkirk 2

Game #2:

Cano Beltre and Davis homer 10-5 tempe

Game #3:

Selkirk beats the 21 as McAllister goes 8 innings Sel 4 Tempe 3

Game #4:

Santigo goes to 8-0 as Tempe wins 8-3

Game #5:

CARGO hits for the cycle but scores just 1 run and has only 1 rbi..  weird. Tempe 6 Sel 2

Game #6:

Iwakuma was on and all selkirk wanted to do has pound him and they did.  It has to be his worst start of the year. Selkirk scored 8 earned runs in 6.1 innings as ex Tempe player Miller hit two homers and drove in 6 off the amazing pitcher. But he improves to 27-3 1.42 era as Selkirk did bump his era by 0.44 but still he got two wins.

Oh yeah Tempe scored 12 as David hits 3 homers and drives in 5.

Series Summary

So as expected Tempe hammers Selkirk 5 out of 6 but this series sure has news as Cargo hits for the cycle Davis hits three in game. And the unhittable Iwakuma got hit very hard

Elyria Indians @ Dallas Cougars

Series Preview

One team looking fwd to the playoffs and the other looking fwd to hot stove season and the draft.

Series Summary

Dallas played the Indians tough, but was still staring at another sweep until Franklin hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 6th in the last game.

Bethesda Bandicoots @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview

Coconut Creek looking to continue gaining on John Carter of Jasoom aka Virginia.

Game #1:

Nate Eovaldi pitches like a Cy Young contender for BET. He carries a 3-1 lead into the 9th. Alex Wood comes in to save it. CCC scrub Brett Hayes takes him deep for a 2-out 2-run HR to send it to extra innings.

CCC defense continually tried to give the game away with errors and finally manages to do it in the 16th.

Wood pitches to 36 batters in relief. Many innings as a Grade-1. He walked 8 but made sure to do them in front of Alfonso Soriano. Was up with bases loaded twice and produced zip.

BET wins 5-3

Game #2:

CCC breaks out early and holds on to a 7-4 win.

Game #3:

CCC’s Ubaldo Jimenez goes 9 with 13 K’s and 1 run allowed. Not good enough to win. Alex Cobb takes a shutout into the 9th for BET but CCC pushes one across to go to extras again. This time it is short lived as new Crusher Adam Lind hits a 2-run walk-off bomb in the 10th to give CCC a 3-1 win.

Game #4:

BET gets to Colon early putting up 4 runs. CCC tries to claw back in but falls short 4-3. Marco Estrada with the complete game for BET.

Game #5:

Crushers continue struggling offensively. Only Matt Holliday could solve grade-3 James Mcdonald. Fortunately Holliday goes 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and gets us a narrow 3-2 win.

Game #6:

Nate (Cy Young has nothing on me) Eovaldi back on the mound for BET.

He shuts down CCC for 16-2/3 innings while facing 65 batters. CCC pitchers matched him frame for frame. Apparently everyone got tired by the 17th inning. Suddenly no one could field a ball cleanly. CCC errors led to 2 unearned runs for BET in the top of the 17th. BET errors gave 1 run back in the bottom of the 17th to finally get Eovaldi out of the game. Joba came on and got the 1 out save.

Alfonso Soriano once again had bases loaded opportunities and flamed out.

Series Summary

BET comes to town and earns a 3-3 series split. Thus pissing off CCC GM to no end. 🙂

BET player of the series is Nate Eovaldi. 25 IP, 19 K’s and 1 ER allowed.

BET co-payer of the series is CCC’s Alfonso Soriano. He put up a stellar

1 for 22 line with 20 men LOB in the series.

Jansen gives up 2 hits and and error and Carpenter’s 3 run HR (13) seals the deal. Stinson comes in to close the 9th.

NYO 3-9-2 LP Jansen (4-12, BS 3)

COL 5-6-1 WP Chen (4-9) S Stinson (13)

Game #5:

This game benefited from expanded rosters as it goes 15 innings. Winning run scored in the bottom of the 15th when Mazzaro couldn’t field the Young grounder in time to get any of the runners (bases loaded, 1 walk, 2 intentional walks).

NYO 3-11-0 LP Mazzaro (3-3)

COL 4-10-1 WP Chen (5-9)

HRs: Ortiz (23, Ramiriez (8), Blanco (8)

Game #6:

Outlaws have had enough and they score 2 in the first on a Uribe rbi single and a Happ wild pitch. After the Explorers cut it to 2-1 in the
2nd, NY adds a single run in the 5th and 2 in the 6th on a Kratz 2 run HR (10). Jansen comes in in the 8th up 5-2 and this time only gives up a walk. Rivera closes the game in the 9th for the save. Petit was strong over 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 4ks).

Series Summary

Explorers surprise the Outlaws (and themselves) with a 4-2 series win.  Trying to get to .500, but it will be tough. They lost Lough for the
next 8 days and Shoppach for the next 20.
