Yonge Street Stalkers @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Preview

Nerf bats and beach balls

Game #1:

Yonge Street hammered the crap out of Erasmo Ramirez (and there is a lot
of crap there) scoring six times in the 1st inning as they beat Bethesda
6-4. Cole Kalhoun smacked a 3-run homer for his only hit. Chris Davis
had three hits for Bethesda. Ramirez gave up all six runs on five hits
while getting just one out – useless sack of shit – and was bailed out
by superman Jair Jurrjens who toss 8-2/3 innings of shutout relief ball.
David Freese was hurt for two weeks in the game running out an infield
single.

Game #2:

Alex Cobb‘s turn to suck moose crap as he lasts just 3-1/3 innings,
putting Bethesda behind the 8-ball long enough to allow the Stalkers to
squeak out a 5-4 win. Cobb walked six in the game. Martin Prado had
three hits for the Stalkers. Cole Gillaspie made it close with a two-run
shot in the bottom of the 9th off Papelbon but he held the ‘coots off
long enough to get Save #22.

Game #3:

Henry Urrutia had four hits as the Stalkers stretched out the Bethesda
streak of losses to 9 games with a 6-2 win. Jacob Turner got the win
with seven strong innings of three-hit ball against the Chris Davis-less
Bandicoots. James McDonald dropped to 0-5 for Bethesda allowing his
usual 10 hits per game.

Game #4:

Marco Estrada dropped his ERA to 1.61 outduelling Mat Latos with 8
shutout innings as he combined with Shawn Kelley to blank the Stalkers
2-0. Estrada fanned seven and walked just one while Kelley got his first
save of the season. Tony Cruz drove in both Bethesda runs with a homer
in the bottom of the 8th off Latos who went the distance for Yonge
Street.

Game #5:

Kole Calhoun had three hits and drove in three as the Stalkers edged the
Bandicoots 5-4. Lorenzo Cain wasted a 4/4 performance for Bethesda. He
also scored once, drove one in and stole a base. Jonathan Papelbon
continued his streak with save #24.

Game #6:

Erasmo Ramirez does what Erasmo Ramirez does best, turning a close ball
game into a 10-2 laugher by giving up five runs in the last two innings
in a “what the hell” late-inning relief appearance. Jesus Montero and
Aaron Hicks homered for the Stalkers who scored eight times in the final
three innings to take it.

Series Summary

A nice kick in the crotch at home for Bethesda which has now lost 9 of
its last 10 while Yonge Street heads the other way at 8-2 and now sits
almost at .500 with a 37-41 record at just about the halfway point.
Bethesda reels back to 33-44 as they flop back into the cesspool of the
AL East.

       Clovis Wheat Kings @ Jersey Nor’easters

Series Preview

The streaking Wheat Kings meet the fading Nor’easters.

Series Summary

Good news for Jersey as many of their players made strides in meeting
the minimum playing requirements for card retention. Bad news in that
they lost all 7 games to a powerful Clovis team.

The Nor’easters were shutout 4 times in the series and scored only 6
runs in 7 games.

       Columbus Explorers @ Manhattan Project

Series Preview

Columbus makes the trip to Manhattan.

Teams with very close records, only one game apart.

Manhattan wins series 4-2.

Columbus’ won their 2 games overwhelmingly– just beat Manhattan bloody.

Manhattan’s wins were close and mostly low scoring.

Game #1:

Manhattan 7-5

Martin just caves in the early innings and Manhattan leads 7-0 by the
4th inning.

Explorer bullpen does much better and closes Manhattan down, while
Porcello gives up 4 runs.

Explorers still battling in the 9th, but the early lead remains too much
to overcome.

WP=Porcello

SV=Rzepczynski

LP=Martin

Game #2:

up until the bottom of the 9th when a walkoff RBI scores the winning run
with 2 out.

Columbus 14-2

Wild laffer all the way!!

Columbus smashed Jose Fernandez for 10 ERs in 5 innings—and then went on

Game #4:

Columbus 13-4

Wild Laffer Part II !!

Another energetic romp at the plate for Columbus.

WP=Milone

LP=Zito

Game #5:

Manhattan 7-6

Happ yields 6 ERs through 4 innings.

Columbus bullpen does good job holding Manhattan and giving Columbus
sluggers time to get 6 runs of their own. Then Manhattan scores just one
more run against Valvaro—enough to win.

WP=Medlen

SV=Dunning

LP=Valvaro

Game #6:

Manhattan 5-2

Game turned almost totally on Manhattan HRs issued by Martin—4 in all—3
in one inning.

Also, Columbus’ murderous lineup finally seemed to tire—for instance,
Victorino and Carpenter did not get a hit—and De Aza and Zimmermann only
1 hit each.

WP=Porcello

SV=Simon

LP=Martin

Series Summary

Manhattan wins series 4-2.

Columbus’ sluggers–Victorino, DeAza, Carpenter, Zimmerman–
relentless!!!

Manhattan pitching has to keep the score low enough so Manhattan’s
hitters can win.

       Long Beach Dirt Bags @ Camarillo Quest

Series Summary

Camarillo takes 5 out 6. Scott Hairston goes 11 for 23 with 2 homers and
8 RBIs in the series. Camarillo now sits at 46-32 and with Valdosta

But…..

Gyorko RBI single moves the score to 5-2 and then Carlos Gonzalez
smashes a 3 run blast to tie the game 5-5 !!! Peavy looks stunned on the
mound….

Top 13th: Mo in for NY, looking to hold the offense down. But looks lost
as bases get loaded and pinch hitter Reimold gets on via FC but a run
scores! Romo goes 3 perfect innings in middle relief.

Bottom 13th: Iron City holds on for the victory. 6-5 in 13 !!

Game #4:

Hellickson R4Y (5-7 3.72) vs Harang R3YZM (3-0 3.25)

Another extra inning game. Both starters pitch great but leave with no
decisions.

same for Iron City.

Yinzers get to closer Jansen in top 10th with back to back doubles and
hold on to win 3-2.

again needed to stay out on the mound, allowing 5 ER in 8 innings,
trying to give the bullpen a rest.

Ks.

Altuve has a big game going 4-6 w/3 rbi; Lowrie goes 3-4 w/4 rbi and

Game #2:

The SBL starters are solid again as Stults gets his 2nd win of the year
going 6 innings scattereing 8 hits and giving up only 1 run. Cook and

Game #3:

SBL starter looks likes he going to put up another strong start for the
SBL as he goes 6 IP giving up 1 run. But things fall apart in the 7th as
DAL strikes for 5 runs and takes control of the game. Hundley has an
rbi-2b, Pollock has a 2-run 2b and a Lowrie error pl;ates the other 2.
Gaudin would eventually pick up the save for DAL, his 2nd. Altuve is 1-2

scoreless innings. The injury bug hits DAL as they lose Ellis (5 days)
and Maxwell (11 days)

DAL 7, SBL 6

Game #6:

SBL Holland has another strong outing going 8 IP giving up only 1 run
and fanning 10. But the SBL can only get him 1 run also and he leaves in
the 9th and end up with a no-decision. Alckey is just as good for DAl as
