Triple Creek  Patriots @ Jersey  Nor’easters

Series Summary: Triple Creek wins this series 5-2. The Nor’easters claim they have no offense and went out and proved it. Jersey was shutout 4 times in the series and scored but a single run in a 5th game. They score only 11 total runs in 7 games and were lucky to win two games.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Valdosta  Snappers

Series Preview: The over-achieving Bandicoots welcome the Valdosta Snappers for a six-game set as Bethesda tries to maintain their unlikely position atop the NL East while Valdosta tries to claw their way out the the NL Central cellar.
Game #1: Antonio Senzatela certainly did his part to help his team.
Senzatela gave up a measly three hits while striking out nine impotent Bethesda hitters in a 2-0 shutout for Valdosta.
Alex Cobb also pitched well for Bethesda as he went eight innings with 10 strikeouts and just three hits allowed but the difference was his team provided no offensive support.
Wilmer Difo had all three hits for Valdosta and drove in one run with a double in the 7th. The Snappers manufactured their other run in the 8th thanks to a couple of walks and a Ryan O’Hearn flub up in the outfield on an easy fly ball.
W-Senzatela (5-4)
L-Cobb (4-5)
Game #2: Kyle Seager launched the first pitch he saw from Joel Payamps in the bottom of the 12th to give Bethesda an 8-7 walkoff win.
Ronald Acuna had three hits for Valdosta and did his best to help his team overcome a rocky start by Chase DeJong who allowed six runs in 4.2 innings. Bethesda starter Jake Odorizzi lived up to his name in an odiferous start in which he gave up six runs in 5.2 innings.
The bullpens on both sides did considerably better than the starters with Valdosta’s Tyler Alexander, AJ Minter and Payamps giving up just 2 runs on four hits over 6.1 innings while Bethesda’s pen gave up just a single run over the same time span.
Ryan O’Hearn topped the Bethesda hitters with three hits.
W-Tepera (3-0)
L-Payamps (0-3)
HR-VAL: Acuna (6), Simmons (1); BET: Miller (6), Seager (12)
Game #3: Another titanic struggle ended with a big blow and this time it also came off the first pitch by a Valdosta reliever (AJ Minter) who served one up in the 10th to Victor Reyes whose third hit of the game was magic and lifted Bethesda to a 4-3 win.
Miguel Sano also had a big game for Valdosta with a homer and two doubles and drove in all three of his team’s runs. Jonathan Schoop drove in two runs for the ‘Coots with three singles.
W-Antone (1-0)
L-Minter (1-1)
HR-VAL: Sano (5); BET: Reyes (2), Soto (15)
Game #4: Valdosta got just two more hits than Bethesda but trampled them on the scoreboard with an 11-2 laugher.
The Snappers scored four runs in the 5th and 6th innings highlighted by a grand slam off Mr. Wunderbar Miguel Sano whose four RBI day was matched by Kurt Suzuki who doubled and homered. Ronald Acuna had three hits and scored three times.
The story of the game for Bethesda was giving up runs in bunches and failing to do anything in a clutch situation – leaving 13 runners on base in the game.
Bethesda pitchers had it in for Snappers’ slugger Austin Riley, beaning him twice and drawing a warning but ironically it was the Valdosta started Martin Perez that was tossed in the 7th for nailing Ben Rortvedt.
W-Perez (5-3)
L-Kelly (4-5)
HR-VAL: Sano (6), Suzuki (3)
Game #5: Bethesda finally wins by more than one run and didn’t need extra innings thanks to a clutch 3-run homer from Brad Miller in the 7th inning as the Bandicoots prevailed 8-4.
Juan Soto had a rare multi-hit game with a single and a home run.
The win was a costly one though as Jeff McNeil was drilled by Valdosta starter Senzatela and knocked out for five days.
W-Littell (3-1)
L-Senzatela (5-5)
HR-BET: Soto (16), Miller (7), Seager (13)
Game #6: Jeff Hoffman fanned 11 for Valdosta and pitched well, but gave up two homers to Frank Schwindel as Bethesda closed out the series with a 4-2 win over the Snappers.
Bethesda won the game with two unearned runs in the 7th inning when Andrelton Simmons made a rare lousy throw to 1st base that sailed into right field and allowed Kyle Seager and Ryan O’Hearn to score.
W-Cobb (5-5)
L-Hoffman (0-1)
Sv-Tepera (3)
HR-VAL: Riley (10), Murphy (7); BET: Schwindel 2 (10)
Series Summary: Bethesda has an extremely tough time with Valdosta and the series could easily have been 4-2 for the Snappers but some timely extra-inning hitting made the difference for the Bandicoots.

COL 4-9-0 WP Lyles (4-6)
Game #4: After a day off – another shutout, but this time is a trio of Harsen Island pitchers doing the stellar work. Zac Lowther got the start, when 7 and gave up just 1 hit! And his 2 relievers didn’t allow any. Meanwhile, Nolan Arenado got into the action with 2 homers (12, 13) and 4 rbis and Derek Hill hits a 2 run shot (1) to pace the 12 hit onslaught
HIW 7-12-0 WP Lowther (4-4)
COL 0- 1-0 LP Kolby Allard (2-8)
Game #5: The ship (ahem, no pun intended) is righted for the Explorers after the big shutout – although it took a lot of doing. And the game featured 2 ejections of Columbus pitchers AFTER the Walleye hurlers set the stage with a couple of hit batsmen. Columbus’ 2 run lead is wiped out by a 3 run Walleye outburst in the 4th sparked by Jacob Stallings 2 run single. But in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs, Pablo Reyes connects for a 2 run homer (2) and the Explorers pull it out 4-3!
HIW 3-6-0 LP Michael King
COL 4-7-2 WP J.B. Wendelken (1-0) S Liam Hendriks (11)

Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas @ Yonge Street  Stalkers

Series Preview: SW Detroit heads north. The Stalkers hold the top spot in the topsy turvy Central. Play Ball!
Game #1: A pitchers duel started things off quickly. Michael Pineda and 2 relievers combined to shut out the Pups. A Matt Vierling 3 run triple in the 7th accounted for all the scoring. YSS 3 – SWD 0
Game #2: A crisply played affair. Adrian Houser was serviceable. Half the Stalkers 8 hits were doubles. That added up to just enough. SWD tied the game at 3 in the 7th, but YSS answered in the bottom half and turned to a pretty rock solid pen to close things out. YSS 4 – SWD 3
Game #3: Still more good pitching. This time Brady Singer pitched above his weight and outdueled Corbin Burnes. Game #6: We opened the series with a pitchers duel, lets close with one too. Michael Pineda did his part. He went 7.2 innings and K’d 11, allowing 2ER. Darin Ruf singled for the home team. That was the highlight. Suarez and Burnes combined to shut out the home team allowing just Rufs single. Brandon Lowes 2 run HR was all the offense needed. SWD 2 – YSS 0
Series Summary: The Stalkers came out firing, but the Chihuahuas snagged the finale to salvage what could have been an awful series. YSS took 4 of 6, but it wasn’t fully satisfying. SWD continues their roadie to CHI, while YSS rests up to host HOL.
