Game #1: Tommy Edman had 3 RBI’s & the Skyliners beat up the Mobsters.

Final Score: Cincinnati 10 – Chicago 7

Win: Nick Turley 1-2 (3.45)

Final Score: Cincinnati 4 – Chicago 3

Win: Chaz Roe 1-1 (2.16)
Loss: Bobby Abreu 1-1 (14.54)

Series Summary: The Mobsters stunk up the place & will remember the beating that the Skyliners put on them, & will make sure one day to run up the score on them.

Rosemere Renegades @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Summary: Two teams perfectly satisfied with mediocrity split their mini-series.

Detroit Crime @ Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary: Detroit Crime SLAMS the Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas.

Sacramento Capitals @ Columbus Explorers

Series Preview: With the mini-season quickly winding down, the Explorers are looking for ways to hang on to 2nd as Selkirk is mounting one serious charge, now just 2 games back… And the Explorer’s shaky (and weak) starting pitching is almost on fumes. The offense is still there, but they have been used to near max. Columbus has spent most of the year on the road (and done very well) and now they get to nurse the pitching at home for the rest of the season!)…..
Game #1: Max Scherzer is carrying the ball for Sacramento in the opener against Matt Shoemaker. Shoe was uncertain for the start, but told the coach – GIVE ME THE BALL!!! Well, Avisail Garcia takes the 1st pitch over the wall for a solo homer (5), and just like that the home team is down 1-0. Shoe settles in and in the 4th Salvador Perez takes Max deep for a 2 run homer (7) and Columbus is on top. But then, Sandy Leon homers (5) for 2 runs in the 5th and we’re down a run again. But hang on, Perez lifts a SF in the 6th and it’s all tied up. 8th inning, the bullpens take over and Jimmy Herget blanks the Capitals through 9. Kyle Crick blanks Columbus in the 8th but gives up a walk and single in the 9th and Cody Reed is called on to rescue the day. He faces 1 batter – Matt Carpenter – who hits a walk-off 3 run homer (4) and Columbus takes the opener 6-3!
SAC 3-5-0 LP Crick (0-1)
COL 6-7-0 WP Herget (5-0)
Game #2: Whew, that was exciting – so now it’s Zack Greinke vs. Jordan Lyles (told you my pitching was thin/weak). And Lyles doesn’t disappoint (from the bad side). He gives up 2 in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd. Sandy Leon (saving his good hitting for this week) gets a 2 run single in the 2nd and Garrett Cooper a 2 run homer (4) in the 3rd, followed immediately by a solo shot by Mike Moustakas (6). Meanwhile, Enrique Hernandez hits a bases-loaded SF in the 2nd (Columbus only manages 1 run). Down 5-1 in the 3rd, Trevor Story launches a monster solo homer (18) and it’s 5-2 after 3. In the 4th, Asdrubal Cabrera drives in Matt Carpenter with a triple, 5-3 after 4. In the 5th, Salvador Perez hits a 2 run double tying the game and then Giovanny Urshela hits a 2 run homer (4) off Ryan Stanek making it 7-5 Columbus after 5! Perez adds a solo homer (8) in the 7th to cap off the scoring at 8-5 Columbus and the Explorers bullpen did all the rest (for 6.2 innings!).
SAC 5-6-0 LP Greinke (6-4)
COL 8-9-1 WP Brandon Kintzler (5-1) S Liam Hendriks (18)
Series Summary: Big week for comebacks as Columbus takes both in come from behind fashion. Salvador Perez a big 2 games: 4 for 7, 3 runs, 6 RBIs, double, 2 homers, SF, and 3 runners thrown out trying to steal!!! Next week we host Selkirk in a BIG SERIES!!! Sacramento heads to Portland.

Long Beach Dirt Bags @ Portland Lumber Jax

Game #1: LB 6 POR 3
Game #2: LB 8 POR 6
Series Summary: Long Beach wins the series 2-0.

Hollywood Werewolves @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview: Battle for .500
Game #1: CCC jumps out to an early 4-1 lead against Dustin May. But HOL battle back to win the game 5-4.
Game #2: Betts and Bohm are unstoppable for CCC, They combine to go 6 for 9 with 2 HR’s, 4 runs, and 5 RBI. Ultimately it wasn’t enough as HOL pounded right back and win the game 8-7.
Series Summary: HOL sweeps the two-game series winning both games by one run.

Harsens Island Walleye @ Pittsburgh Lumber Company

Series Preview: A pair of struggling teams, sitting at the bottom of the National League, square of for 2 in Pittsburgh.
Game #1: Brian Dozier’s 2 run single plates Cespedes and Kelly to put Pittsburgh in front 2-0 after 2. Michael King and Ryan Yarbrough match zeros until the 8th when Max Stassi takes Felix Pena deep for a game-tying 2 run homerun. The game remains knotted at 2 until the bottom of the 10th when a Joey Gallo RBI single scores Myles Straw with the game-winner.

HIW 2-6-0
PLC 3-9-2
WP – Clippard (2-1)
LP – Almonte (2-2)

Game #2: Walleye score 4 runs on 7 hits off Clevinger over 5 innings, but the Lumber Company bash Gio Gonzalez for 7 runs, on only 3 hits, taking advantage of 4 Gonzalez free passes. A string of 6 Pittsburgh relievers shut out Harens Island over the final 4 innings to preserve an 8-4 victory. Camargo had 3 hits, Walton 2 for the visitors. The bottom of the Lumber Company lineup did the damage for Pittsburgh, as Gallo scored 3 times, Renfroe had a single, double, and 2 RBIs, and Straw had a bases-clearing 3 run double to break the game open.

HIW 4-9-0
PLC 8-7-2
WP – Clevinger (3-3)
LP – Gonzalez (1-4)

Series Summary: With the 2 game “sweep”, Pittsburgh is playing .500 ball at home … too bad they’re 9-21 on the road!

Motor City Muscle @ Dallas Cougars

Series Preview: Dallas comes back from Chicago after the Mobsters won all 3 games finding themselves one game back from the first place Mobsters.
Game #1: Down 5 to 4 going to the bottom of the 8th Anderson Tejada leads off with a pinch hit double and scores the tying run on a sac fly by A.J. Pollock. Then Jose Abreu smashed his 18th homer of the year for the winning run.

Final Score: Cougars 6, Muscle 5

Game #2: Zach Plesac goes 5 strong allowing just 3 hits and 5 relievers finished strong with the only blemish being a Mike Trout solo home run. Ramon Laureano drives in two.

Final Score: Cougars 4, Muscle 1

Series Summary: Combined with the Skyliners surprising sweep of Chicago in Cincinnati and Dallas sweep of Motor City the Cougars leap back in front for first place in the AL a game in front of Chicago and Detroit.

Triple Creek Patriots @ Valdosta Snappers

Series Summary: The Patriots made it look easy as they roll over the limp bat Snappers. Patriots outscore Valdosta 17-1 and held the Snappers to 6 hits in the 2 game sweep. With Ronald Acuna out most of next year it is looking rather bleak for next season as well. The rebuild continues!

Selkirk Steelers @ Jersey Nor’easters

Series Summary: Selkirk sweeps the 2 games series 4-1 and 6-1.

Tempe Tempers @ Corktown Cycle

Series Summary: Tempe gets the series 2-0 and becomes the first team to 50 wins! Corktown keeps inching close to the 50 loss category

Mesa Solar Sox @ Tijuana Bottle Rockets

Series Preview: Tijuana hosts Mesa for two.
Series Summary: Each team takes one as this series ends in a split.

Virginia Sluggers @ Yonge Street Stalkers

Series Preview: The Stalkers host the Sluggers. Virginia comes in having lost 3 straight.
Game #1: An all around nightmare game for YSS. Triston McKenzie was borderline brilliant. (13 K in 7 IP). The sprint season injury crisis continued for YSS as Joc Pederson (14 days) and Jason Heyward (5 days) collided in the OF and were lost to the Stalkers. George Springer hit a solo homer for VIR, but the run production was spread around. VIR 6 – YSS 1
Game #2: Adam Plutko was solid (2ER in 7+), Springer hit another solo HR and a bunch more Sluggers slugged up the Stalkers awful pen. Even the “good” YSS relievers suck. VIR 8 – YSS 5
Series Summary: The home team entered the series bursting with excitement and hope. They exited feeling quite a bit different. On to 3 games in Detroit. VIR takes the good vibes from the mini sweep down the road to CCC.

Fremont Cannons @ Southbend Lynx

Series Preview: Fremont visits Southbend for a quick 2 game series.
Game #1: FRE S.Howard against SBL T.Houck

Houck gets his las t start of the season and tosses a CG for the win.
