Rosemere Renegades @ Triple Creek Patriots

Game #1: Bieber tosses a three-hit shutout and the Patriot offense cobbled together a couple runs for the win. Triple Creek loses Upton for 5 days though.

RRG 0 TCP 3

W – Bieber (7-2)
L – Kuhl (4-4)

Game #2: Tyler Anderson was no match for Canning’s two-hit, 8 inning, masterpiece. Tapia, Fletcher both go 3-5 and Arozarena 2-5 as Rosemere piled up 13 hits.

RRG 6 TCP 0

W – Canning (4-4)
L – Anderson (3-3)

Series Summary: Two game series was split.

Coconut Creek Crushers @ Chicago Mobsters

Series Preview: Chicago on a 3-game losing streak takes on the Crushers from Coconut Creek for a quick 2-game set in the Windy City.
Game #1: Julio Urias is unhittable for the first 6 Innings. He gives up a solo Home Run (First Hit of the game). The score stays tied at 2 Runs each into extras when the Crushers explode off Aroldis Chapman for 3 Runs. Chicago chips back with 1 in the bottom of the 12th, but it’s not enough.

Final Score: Coconut Creek 5 – Chicago 3 (12 Innings)

Win: Tom Hatch 2-1 (2.89)
Loss: Aroldis Chapman 1-1 (5.02)
Save: Sam Coonrod #1

Game #2: Nelson Cruz says enough of this losing and takes a 1-1 tie deep with a 2-Run shot.

Final Score: Chicago 3 – Coconut Creek 1

Win: Lance McCullers 5-3 (3.03)
Loss: Dane Dunning 0-5 (4.97)
Save: Casey Mize #2

Series Summary: The Mobsters are not playing good ball down the stretch. A Series split is not what Chicago management expected. “We won’t go far in the playoffs the way were playing right now”.

Hollywood Werewolves @ Detroit Crime

Series Summary: Hollywood Werewolves sweep the Detroit Crime.

Corktown Cycle @ Columbus Explorers

Series Preview: The Cycle pedal their way to Columbus – maybe that’s why there are at the bottom of the pack – to face the Explorers, a team near the top of the pack, and they are here for a quick 2 pack!
Game #1: Columbus starts fast with 3 in the 1st – Asdrubal Cabrera 3 run homer (4) and they score in the next 3 innings as well. It was enough, although the Cycle did put up a fight. Ryan Mountcastle lead Corktown’s offense with 3 hits. Chris Taylor socks a solo homer (7) in the 3rd and Alex Verdugo’s PH 2 run double sparked a 3 run 8th. That caused Liam Hendriks to appear in the 9th for the save.
CRK 4- 9-2 LP Jorge Lopez (3-3)
COL 7-10-0 WP Mike Fiers (2-2) S Hendriks (15)
Game #2: Columbus again starts fast in the first. Trevor Story launches a 3 run homer (16), Matt Carpenter adds a solo shot (3) and the Explorers add 2 more a 6 run first frame. And then they offense went to sleep. But it was good enough – although Lewis Brinson makes the game interesting when he hits a 3 run homer (4) in the 4th. But then all the pitching took over – and Liam Hendriks again comes in for the 9th!
CRK 3-7-0 LP Jake Arrieta (0-5)
COL 6-8-0 WP Brandon Kintzler (4-0) S Hendriks (16)
Series Summary: Columbus uses the 1st inning twice to win both games and now they go back out on the road for the next 3 series. Still trying to stay close to Tempe in case they spasm or something.

Fremont Cannons @ Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary:  The teams split the 2-game series.

Yonge Street Stalkers @ Cincinnati Skyliners

Series Preview: The playoff bound Yonge Street Stalkers come to Cincinnati for their first-ever visit to Glenn Sample Field. The Stalkers enter with a five-game winning streak, while the Skyliners have dropped three straight and five of their last six.
Game #1: YSS 13, CIN 5 – Yonge Street scored early, and often, in this train-wreck. The Stalkers scored three in each of the middle three innings to bury the Skyliners. Jason Heyward led the hit parade with three knocks and drove in three, as the Stalkers hammered six doubles and three homers in the contest.
Game #2: CIN 4, YSS 3 (11 Inn.) – Adam Frazier’s three-run homer in the fourth to open the scoring, as Cincinnati got a twelve strikeout performance from Josh Lindblom to held the game in check. Ildemaro Vargas tripled with two out in the eleventh to drive in Ehire Adrianza with the game winning run. Anthony Santander added three hits for Cincinnati.
Series Summary: A series split between the teams is a major move in the right direction for Cincinnati, which won its first game at Glenn Sample Field since August 23.

Game #1: Selkirk scored 2 in the 8th to win 3-2. Webb blew the save with help from a Reddick error.
Game #2: Selkirk got solo HRs from Hedges & Winker to win 2-1.
Series Summary: Selkirk takes both games to take solo possession of 3rd place.

Dallas Cougars @ Virginia Sluggers

Series Preview: First place leaders visit Virginia.
Game #1: VIR 5-2 W-T.Williams (1-3) L-K.Bubic (2-3) SV-T.Webb (13)

Wish I could say Virginia won this game,…but they didn’t. Dallas gave it away. After Pollack blasted a 2-run homer in the top of the 1st to put Dallas up 2-0, things went South for the Cougars. In the 3rd, VIR picked up a run on a DP to make it 2-1 DAL. But then in the bottom of the 5th,…Murphy walks, Merrifield gets an infield hit. J.Bradley strokes one to LF and Murphy races home…”MURPHY’s rounding third … he’s headed for home…chugging and puffing … the throw … collision … SAFE!…SMITH dropped the throw…MURPHY plowed into him hard and knocked the ball loose … unbelievable!” VIR-2 DAL-2. Merrifield then scores on E.Jimenez’ SF. Springer walks putting runners at 1st and 2nd. Which sets up this (a rare play result I am sure)…”R. DEVERS facing K. BUBIC, B 5th, 1 Out, 1st and 2nd, Ahead 3-2 …And the pitch … lined hard to left … POLLOCK takes it on the hop … BRADLEY will try for home…here’s POLLOCK’s throw … and it’s a wild throw … the ball goes to the backstop…BRADLEY scores … SPRINGER running hard … he’s around third … flying…he slides in headfirst … and he scores! … and DEVERS takes second on the play…POLLOCK picks up the error … 2 errors now for DALLAS. COUGARS 2, SLUGGERS 5.” Dallas would commit 3 errors in the game and VIR sneaks away with a win against the AL ‘s top team.

Game #2: DAL 8-3 W-D.Hale (2-1) L-L.Castillo (6-1)

Dallas back to playing like the team they are. J.Abreu’s 2-run homer puts DAL up 2-0 in the 1st. E.Jimenez gets 1 back for VIR in the bottom half with his own solo shot. And then Dallas erupted for 5 runs in the 2nd to put the game away. With runners at 1st and 2nd after an error and a walk, S.Brown dumps one into RF corner to drive in a run. G.Polanco follows with his own double into the RF corner that drives in 2 and Dallas takes the lead 5-1. H.Castro singles in another run and J.Abreu follows suite,…7-1 Dallas. And that was basically it. VIR got 10 hits compared to 12 for Dallas, but could not get any runs across.

Series Summary: A big win for Virginia as they get the split against the top team.

Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Motor City Muscle

Series Preview: TIJ @ MCM for two games.

Game #2: MCM 4 – TIJ1

Portland Lumber Jax @ Tempe Tempers

Series Preview: Portland currently sitting two games behind the last playoff spot visits Tempe for two quick games.
Game #1: Five straight hits to start the game gave Tempe a quick 5-0 lead when the fourth and fifth hits by Rendon and Brantley left the stadium. Valdez pitched 8 scoreless innings for the win.
Tempe 10-0
W – Valdez 2-0
L – Stripling 0-2
Game #2: Peralta rbi single put Tempe up 1-0 in the 1st. Stewart’s two-run shot gave Portland the lead for half an inning until Dickerson answered with a 2 run shot. Rendon’s two-run shot in the 5th gave Tempe’s pen breathing room. Hahn wasn’t sharp in the 9th but still got the save.
Tempe 5-3
W – Anderson 2-0
L – Buehler 2-2
S – Hahn #8
Series Summary: Tempe gets the two-game sweep. The offense was firing and the pen gave up only 1 run over 13.2 Innings. Rendon went 3-4 with two Homeruns and five RBI.

Pittsburgh Lumber Company @ Sacramento Capitals

Series Summary: Sacramento sweeps a highly anticipated and consequential series against Pittsburgh.
